Like so many of you I had a stroke too I had a pontine stroke on my right side of pontine which affected my left side movements and especially walking stay strong and motivated ❤we will get through this 💪

I had a posterior inner capsule stroke. Balance and hemiparesis and sensory problems. A lot to deal with, I gain a lot of benefit from your exercises as I need a home program.

I tried to find the video you mentioned about a brain stem stroke. My husband had an aneurysm (large dilation in his case) in his basilar artery that developed a clot. TPA treatment was not as fast due to access to a CT. He initially was able to move hands and feet both sides but lost that during the first day and is now locked-in. He answers us with eye movements. Yesterday, my son saw him move a leg so worked with him and he did it twice more though he told my son that it was hard. I tried that night and he couldn't until later I happened to me holding/squeezing his knee and his leg moved. He said he knew and he intended it. We feel very much in a tight squeeze here in terms of expectations and trying to prove that we should keep trying. We'd very much appreciate content/advice on his situation. We do realise that it's not a great one. Thank you!

In the same neighborhood, a hemorrhagic stroke in the thalamus. One professor of neuroscience did say that although we lose many of these pathways in the brain permanently due to stroke, signals can be rerouted and redirected and healthy nerves can sometimes be trained to perform more than one duty, just not as reliably. And we do grow new nerves. As many as ten thousand a day! Unfortunately at my age we normally can lose around a million a day. Seriously, who counts these things? Quite fortunate & happy to have survived this long. I come here to listen to your positive approaches to rehab, Dr. T. It's infectious. You're constantly teaching us to adapt and accept incremental improvements, and it's been transformative for me. I start each day slightly overwhelmed with great projects I love working on crying out for more time and attention. Here's a simple one. 😁Daylight savings time! Turn the clocks back.

My problem is motor movements, the patient next to me is partially affected by the pons, he spoke very little. There was no speech therapist so I spoke to him often, at first slowly and repeating, later short questions to answer me and he progressed pretty well. The effort often pays off, and the pleasure of helping someone is harder than me.

I was not told what type of stroke I had, but everything you have described, including the long term hypertension and uncontrolled diabetes is exactly what I had, as well as facial and eye muscle weakness and mild swallowing difficulties. I learn more here than I did after 30 days in hospital/rehab. Thank you.

thank you so much for putting this all out for free on this channel. We had sub-par neuro instruction in my PT program and this is really helping me bring up my weak points for patient treatment.

I was told I had an massive ischemic stroke, but not told where. This was a great video, and answered a lot of questions. Much thanks. I have resistant htz for almost 30 years and was shooting Lantus (100 ui) before going plant based.

Hello Dr. Tobias. Hope you're doing well. I had a brain stem stroke by hemorrhage. These exercises are great. This type stroke seems to have the same symptoms as my brain stem stroke. I have followed your guidance for 3 years now. I still have some sensory challenges in my right fingertips. Teresa, you are one of the reasons I stay motivated to keep teaching :) If I had any part in your success, I have accomplished what I set out to accomplish. 😊 As far as "brain stem stroke", the pons is in the brainstem so you will see a lot of similarities. However, when I hear "brain stem" versus "medulla" or "pons" it usually means there are a few additional symptoms. That is why I plan to make a separate video for this. Do you happen to know what artery ruptured? I might even break it down by artery. I have not decided yet. If you know the artery and you do not mind sharing, please let me know! Again, i can't thank you enough for taking the time each week to comment and share how the videos are helping you. And to know you have been around for 3 years. I appreciate you sticking with me. Hello,nice video but I have a question ,what it the best advice for a friend who had a surgery for tibia and fibula fracture for the second time because he had a problem with the first one(the plate broken after 1 year after surgery).

Did you make a brainstem stroke video? I know my pons was damaged i had a avm in my pons and I do have hbp ataxia dysarthria hemiparisis arm and hand weakness

Mine was called acute ischemic stroke in the medulla. My symptoms are very similar to what you described for the pons.

My Stroke was Pons….apparently 60%…..ya it’s scary …I’m number 5 in a family of Hypertension…but I never understood it or was taught about…My Doctor said I have White Coat…not so…it was Hypertension, up n down…I was in good shape..but fooled….in the 2 years I have done well…left side is trying with a little movement… I can walk with a walker n Brace….next goal open my hand….I just got my Urias Inflatable hand splint…Wonderful…🥳💅🏾 Thank you again for the education…I have learned more from you then any other Health Professional.

Dr. Does daily consumption of Vit C supplements protect from a stroke or restroke if already have one. I had one in 2020

Thanks for your video. Have you heard of PBA with pons? I was in Italy @ 2 years ago and they said I had it in 2 different parts of my brain, I got to the US in 9 days and they said only the pins. For a mild ischemic stroke, this limbo, inconsistent stroke, it's been a challenge.

Thank you,, thank you dr. Tobias. Finally you have talked about the pons. As you might I had in februari 2017 my brainstem stroke. I was always good to my body. I had in beginning on my left side of the brain, very much pain. During my sleep on my couch, when i wake up, i could not move my body at all. de stroke was a fact . The ambulance personel, thought that is was something with my blood level, but that was always oke. They did nmot know what happened to me. My left side was paralyzed. I had only pain in my left head.

What parameters are you using for BP during your sessions?

in 2021 i have the following finding in my MRI brain (encephalomalacic focus along the pons is noted and white matter foci) in my follow up MRI brain in 2022 the following finding (two pontine foci of csf and the white matter foci) but the doctors always giving me anti depressions medicines would you please doctor tell me what is my case ?

Hello doctor My father had an accident and Doctorow say he had pons injury , his whole body was paralysed, but now he has recovered a lot , his speech was also gone , doctors used tracheostomy . Now his left side is working much better as compare to right side , but he is still not able to speak clearly . What do yo suggest .

@@rehabhqofficial really hard to two things at once especially the arm and hand if I try to do something else the arm just drops off or I try to do something with my affected arm my affected leg start going wrong

I’m always amazed by the different types of strokes and how each experience is different because it occurs in different parts of the brain. I had an AVM (arteriovenous malformation) brain bleed that caused my stroke. I always heard it described as “tangled vessels” that I was likely born with that ruptured just after my 49th birthday. Before the cause was determined, the location was described this way in a report: “Large left posterior frontal intraparenchymal hemorrhage …” Thanks for asking. 😊

Oh! My case,

Is it possible to have had this type of stroke; or this area(pons) affected if there is significant change in feeling or sensation to certain areas?My left side is certainly paralyzed; but I am slowly getting back sensation in areas on the left, but even light touches are very painful. Not sure if this makes any sense. Always great to see your perspectives,Tara.thank you!

Great to see you this week! This series of videos is going to be a little bit different. To get the most out of these videos, it is best to know what area of your brain is involved. In most cases you can request your MRI report. I try not to ever assume it is a certain area based on symptoms. Again, these reports are pretty easy to get.

Mam my son had a pontine stroke last year and suffered quadripaeresis. He is now able to walk but has his trunk and hip are tilted on his left side(stronger side) while walking due to which he is not able to balance properly.please make a video on how to correct it. Also he twist his hip in opposite direction to the leg that he lifts which cause opposite twisting of hip while walking and shorter stride.Mam can you please make a video on it

Occupational therapists are supposed to be expert on the subject matter of lifestyle modifications ie find out reasons for those poor habits and ways to motivate them into a direction of change

Is it on the right side

Hello dr. Tobias I had a large hemorrhagic stroke in my basal ganglia on the left side of my brain. All over the right side of my body I can feel and see my muscles moving and sometimes a lot of vibration feeling under my skin. It seems every day I can feel more and more sensation returning. First it starts as a stinging sensation and a week later or so I can move something better and feel my feet or my back or whatever better. My doctor has told me my nerves are regenerating. Ever heard of this before?

Hello , how is he now?

I was just diagnosed with NMOSD the neurologist believes this triggered my 2nd stoke in the pons area the first was a accident related stroke

Right side basal ganglia(sp) Left side affected. In month 6. Getting very hyper sensitive on the Left but I also suffer from adhd-I have sensory issues, hyper-mobility and dyspraxia-which makes this all confusing.

if i've had a pontine stroke, would a 2nd stroke be 'likely' to happen in same area? is inability to deal with weather changes (heat) a factor of a pontine stroke?

Hi Paisley! Thanks for watching and for your question! I do not know if it is common to have a second stroke in the same area. As far as your second question, I can't say I have heard this complaint. However, I live in Florida and our temperature is pretty consistent.....hot. :) So that might be why I do not hear this complain :)

I'm 39 years old now, I had a stroke almost 3 years ago while the dr was ambulizing my avm, which is located on the right side of my brain, close to my motor cortex. He said that the glue spreaded which caused me to suffer a stroke close to my motor cortex but not in my motor cortex. I have weakness on my left side. My main concern is my hand and arm. I've been in therapy for almost 3 years but my hand is significantly weak. My fingers give me the most problems. I have spasticity in them, but I get botox in my arm and hand. I have a personal trainer as well. I'm trying my best to regain movement in my hand.

Thank you so much for sharing this! This is a unique "cause" of a stroke. I have actually never heard of this happening (glue spreading?) during an AVM embolization. With that said, Your symptoms are consistent with a stroke/clot near the motor cortex. DON'T GIVE UP ON THAT ARM! The arm recovery is very slow. Once you stop, that spasticity will get worse and make regaining arm and hand movement more challenging. Everything you are doing (botox + therapy) is the best "formula" at this current time. And also I'd like to know if you could sleep in it. I noticed that my fingers hyper extends while using the splint. Is there some type of cusion you would recommend?

@@rehabhqofficial Reduction of all motor functions on right side of body. Trouble walking , arm movement, feeding, grooming, bathing. Basically every thing involving right side. And I was/am VERY right handed.

I worry about a 2nd stroke

They say I have MS since I was 25 and I think I had a stroke a while ago because I was getting so mad because I had been crawling for 4 years and I'm 52. I literally think I had a stroke when I fell into my face one night. after that I couldn't lift my arm up. And I'm constantly peeing which is really f***** up. Yes I said the f word because I'm still pissed😁

I had hyper tension eyes are the biggest .need prism glasses
