I've been digging colored pencil tutorials lately so this is great timing. Kirsty Partridge here on KZread and on Patreon is a MASTER at color pencil tutorials. She is truly amazing and inspiring.

Thanks for the recommendation. I've been wanting to get into colored pencil as well.
Might have been tedious but it sure paid off. It's fantastic, Lindsay!
Really love the way this turned out. I have done a few colored pencil pieces and they do take a lot of time and patience. I always love the end result. Thanks for sharing.
I miss your colored pencil tutorials... thanks Lindsay! Be well! 😘✨👍🏾
Sometimes I watch one of your videos just to hear a positive voice. s/an 80-year-old during lockdown (or anytime!)

“I felt my heart crack slowly like a pomegranate, spilling its seeds.” ― Trebor Healey, A Horse Named Sorrow This is so beautiful with colored pencils, awesome lindsay.❤😊👍👌
The pomegranate looks so real! Thanks for another wonderful video.🤗
I really like how this turned out! I like to see looser colored pencil art that isn't perfectly photorealistic sometimes. It has your style in it and looks like your work.
Really pretty. Love the detail.

So beautiful!!! Love it!
So lovely, the highlights just make it sing~
What timing! I'm water coloring at the moment, and had just been watching your real time magnolias!
Lovely! Happy Sunday indeed, I look forward to Sketchbook Sundays!
Love your painting. It is a great tip to use a filbert brush for Gamsol. I will try that next time it is much faster than the stumps.
This is amazing. I have watercolor pencils that I don’t really use and haven’t really gotten into other kinds. For some reason my colored pencil pieces never come out very nice. This is super helpful.
You're ridiculously talented.
Wonderful !
Beautifully done Lyndsey.. I have never tried using a brush with the Gamisol ,but to be honest with most of my colouring with the pencils,I found with experience I stoped using it and tend to use pencils applied in layer upon layer and it gets to the stage that you get a beautiful even texture with no pencil marks as I like my work to look..but it had been my main medium for above 10 yrs or more so learnt a lot of tricks in those years..And when people say they can’t believe it’s coloured as they thought it was a print ..It does make one feel very proud ..Love this Pencil painting you have done,it reminds me of the old still life pictured with the dark backgrounds and the fruit glowing in the front of it..I enjoyed watching it too 😀
Love the video. I was thinking about using my colored pencils (prismacolor). Beautiful picture.❤️
Beautiful! I am just starting to explore the possibilities of color pencils as a medium so this is very useful. Thanks!
Your painting is lovely! I’m getting my color pencils out... they are time consuming but so relaxing and meditative on a lazy day. Thank you for your tips. E
Love it, Lindsay, but I love all your work! 🤪. Hugs~Chelle
I like using watercolor pencils for the background
Beautiful
The background looked really quick, not tedious at all -- at 600% speed ;-). Wonderful and fun to watch.

...if only I could color at 600% speed 😋
This painting turned out great. Every time you do colored pencil art you don't like how time consuming it is. But look how great your colored pencil pictures turn out. I mean, they're fantastic!! 😍

I just found your channel and i love your personality 🥺💘
Thanks for another video Lindsay! 🙏🏻🌈
This is a great colored pencil tutorial. Hope you'll do more!
Last night I was looking for a piece of suitable 12x12 scrapbook paper to make your mini accordion no sewing sketchbook, and found a usable piece with white washed brick on it. But I ALSO found a tin of brand new, shrink wrapped Prismacolor 12 count colored pencils. So I made the book but not the cover yet, and also swatched the pencils. AND tried water on them just in case. I've got White and black too. some of the Leads look centered but some are off center. Pretty sure I used a coupon on them because of what I found them with and the receipt is in there if I really need to check. At this point they feel like they were free because I didn't remember I even had them at all. Everytime I open a Pomegranate I get thick red juice all over that stains. I bet you could paint with it. When I was in elementary school I had a friend with a tree in her back yard and we'd go after those Pomegranates all the time. We were kids and easily reached the fruit so the whole tree couldn't have been that tall.
Now I want to eat a pomegranate! lol
Beautiful piece, Lindsay 💕
You did a great painting.
Ok under 2 hours for that is not that slow at all. I dont use solvents so mine take longer but I also don’t do it all in one sitting
You probably see why artists call colored pencil art "like watching grass grow"; I do prefer mediums that give a more immediate gratification. As for Stonehenge paper, it's a beautiful paper, but it proved too soft for heavy pressure with colored pencil, as it left obvious impressions in my finished work. I enjoyed this vid; thank you!
Important solvent tip: If you do let it dry completely before adding more layers you will have a smoother effect. Depends on the effect you want.

Hey Lindsay I hope you are well could you do a review of the Cezan colored pencils?

I reviewed them 2 weeks ago on my channel and blog:)
Hello Lindsay, I hope I'm not too late, but I have a question before I even have watched the video. I'd asked about this on another video but was too late - would you consider doing a simple landscape with regular pastels on colored/toned paper with the explanation of why you chose what color paper for the subject matter you chose? I really hope that made sense to you. Thanks in advance. I could use a little boost in this subject. Take care and God bless you and yours. Sincerely Becky B from Arkansas

What is the white powder at 15:21 ?

Titanium white powder from brush and pencil. You mix it with the touch up texture liquid to make an archival white paint for highlights. I linked to it in the video description if you want more info.

@@thefrugalcrafter thank you for letting me know! It is very helpful as I'm learning
I'm surprised they remind you of the Derwent Artists, I find them much more oily and smooth, really closer to Polychromos than the Derwents - but then again I don't have much experience, so maybe :)

I think they might have changed the formula recently because I have heard people in older reviews say that they are soft and creamy but these are hard and dry and on the Blick website they call them "Dry Color" in their title listing.

Can I use paper stamps to blend
@thefrugalcrafter
3 жыл бұрын
You can with solvent. I dont think it will move dry pigment.
I tried this with derwent coloursoft and without solvent. It took me four hours! Next time I will either find solvent, or try my watercolour pencils. Thank you for this tutorial.

I think using watercolor pencils as an underpainting would cut the time by half at least. Your coloursoft would preform beautifully over them:)
