Polymer Clay Tricks: Paints with a Stencil

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Stencils, can they be used with polymer clay and if so how? Well usually you'd use silkscreens with polymer clay, but I've found that stencils can give a completely new look and can be very fun to work with. In this tutorial, I'll show how to use paints with a stencil.

    Thank you. I was worried people weren't going to like it because I was using a stencil instead of a silkscreen.

    I would love to see a tutorial on the necklace that looks like ocean waves and seashells and rose transparent slices on top. All your work is wonderful but this one especially is gorgeous. I hope you will consider it. Thank you.

    I will do a tutorial on those some day, but being that they have a lot of techniques to them and it will be a long video to show how to make them from beginning to end, I'm going to have to make them a payed tutorials on my website. I'm currently in the process of setting up a page to put all paid tutorials on.

    Can you stencil on dry clay

    Yes. You can, but the paints might bleed under the stencil as the stencil won't be stuck down to the clay.

    I think the metallic paint would look great with a black background!

    Hi, just watched a couple of your tutorials and followed how it all worked and want to try this sometime (only just came across this clay sculpting) but couldn't think how you would use this and retain the numbers. Is there anything on your channel as I did not find one. Thanks.

    If you're making creations that don't have a lot of fiddling involved, the paint will stick to the clay just fine.

    Delightful tutorial! Can I use any white polymer clay, or is there a preference for the type and brand to use for better results with acrylic paints? Thanks!

    Thank you for sharing this technique. A question about once the piece is baked - do I need to seal it with anything? Or would it be fine to leave unsealed? Thanks again!

  • @JessamaTutorials

    @JessamaTutorials

    3 жыл бұрын

    Once baked, you don't need to seal it as the paint will have baked onto the clay pretty well. However, it will make the paint finish stronger if you did use a sealer.

    I used this method with gold acrylic paint tonight and the paint bubbled in the oven. Is that because the paint was too thickly applied do you think? I swiped the paint across the stencil with a ruler instead of using a brush.

    I'd let the paint dry for an hour or so before putting it in the oven if you're going to apply it thickly.
