    Love your videos! Are you trimming off the paint of the cane? In the video, you see the cane with the white paint all over it and then the camera shows the cane without any white around it, all red. Thank you so much in advance!

    When I was finished making the cane I put it aside for the night. I covered it with plastic wrap to protect it from my cats (lol) and when I took the plastic wrap off it did take off some of the outside paint. But the white veining within was not affected/changed. It may have had a bit more white veining where the edges would have met otherwise but not a significant amount.

  • @RavenTheElder

    @RavenTheElder

    2 жыл бұрын

    Not the creator, but a fellow sculptor. There’s no set number of times the clay goes through the machine. You’ll have to fold repeatedly and check often to make sure there’s no splotches as you combine colors. It isn’t necessarily a short process and every clay brand performs a bit differently

    This is so amazing, never would I have thought that you could make this! I was wondering if you could make a video using this technique but to make a kwagatama? (the yin and yang symbol) I'd like to make a necklace inspired by the kwagatama necklace in Miraculous ladybug and since finding a stone with that specific shape is hard, I'd opt for making a faux stone. I've been trying to find tutorials for it but it seems that no one has yet :,( (At least that it looks realistic)

    1:10 - you use bake and bond -> I believe I was told to use liquid sculpey it at this point in the process. Is there a reason you use that as opposed to liquid sculpey

  • @TheCloverPatchClayCompany

    @TheCloverPatchClayCompany

    Жыл бұрын

    You can use either and both work great! I find that the translucent liquid clay bottles leak (the sculpey ones, im not sure why this is but literally EVERY bottle leaks when its knocked on its side) so for that reason I tend to buy bake and bond. But definitely both work :)

  • @TheCloverPatchClayCompany

    @TheCloverPatchClayCompany

    2 жыл бұрын

    Hi Maddie! The paint took a few hours to dry, any more than that and yes a bit too much may have been added. You definitely want to let your paint dry and then add the bake and bond, since bake and bond will only really set once its put in the oven and will otherwise keep everything tacky if the paint isnt dry yet. It took us a few tries to figure that out so we have definitely have had our own fails too lol! Thank you so much for watching:)

    I have an issue where whenever I buy the Sculpey Premo translucent (I buy the smaller size since I'm still new to making earrings and am not ready to spend that kind of money) it's so crumbly and hard that I really struggle to condition it. Is this how most people find the texture of it?

  • @modlinefertil

    I've been having the same issue with Sculpey Premo translucent. Whenever I pass it through the pasta machine it just crumbles and I had throw the whole thing away. I also have the smaller size I wonder if it's just the smaller size that does this because the big one in this video runs so smoothly through the pasta machine.

    I just bought my first pack of translucent today (2oz) and ot was totally crumbly! Kept trying different conditioning methods, but no luck. Was happy I bought an extra pack, but I think I will invest in the bigger brick.

  • @TheCloverPatchClayCompany

    You could but it would give a different effect if you didn't use translucent, it would still be pretty though! The translucent clay gives it depth once it bakes and really enhances the stone effect, especially when held up to the light.

    Only use a little bit of paint. A little goes a LONG way. And let it sit until the paint dries completely before you smush it all back together into the cane. You might have to wait 30 mins or so. Even if it takes longer always wait until it dries before pressing the cane back together :)
