Also.....(and I just spent a bit of time looking into this) I believe the Varathane you bought from Home Depot is the same as the one you're buying from polymerclayexpress (which I also use and love). It used to be called Flecto. It is owned and made by RustOleum now and Flecto is no longer involved. However, some people still call it Flecto.

Hi~ I bought 2 of the glazes you mentioned in this video.... diamond flecto & the golden varnish and I didn't like either of them. You had to put 15 coats to get a good shine. I like a really high gloss shine like you get from the triple thick but as you said it gets sticky. Any other suggestions?? Thanks for sharing.

Thank you for this video!!! It's super helpful..I've only used triple thick(and a cheap paint varnish before that) and I liked it, it's ok, but I will definately keep your input in mind when I go to get some more glaze!!!

Not only is it really frustrating (especially when you've spent a long time on a piece) but it's very embarrassing when it's given to someone only to have it slowly lose quality :/

I have used sculpey and it was awful. So I now have triple thick, and I have noticed that one out of every ten(or so) things I have glazed with it has become sticky and now I am scared to use it. I would use resin but I had ez cast and it never turned out right for me. Is the resin mentioned in the video a two part resin that I have to mix? That is what is stopping me from getting it.

Great video - I sell my pieces on eBay/Etsy (CreatingCottage) & totally agree... do NOT use Sculpy or 3 thick, they will turn sticky. How sculpy glaze is allowed to be sold as a useful product is beyond me? Thank you for the new-to-me info on the Golden Varnish - can't wait to try it. Diamond Flecto from PolymerClayExpress is worth it, that version of Varathane is $40+ a gallon when I buy from Lowes.

It's funny I've bought Sculpey glaze twice now. I haven't had a problem with it. It dries fast for me and I always brush on 3 coats to protect itself. Though it is expensive and I have thought about changing glazes for that reason. Maybe Scupley glaze is effected somehow by how hot or cold it is in our different environments

Tracy Lustick Thanks. You may well be right about the resin - I was hoping to avoid all the mixing, mess, etc. If I had a bunch of pieces to glaze, preparing the resin would be more worthwhile. I was also thinking about clear embossing powder (that you melt with a heat gun). I did a piece with Dimensional Magic and it looks great, but I have questions about the durability with a wearable item.
