I've been watching many of these vids, as I want to learn to make items in clay. What you create, are the best on YT. You've taught me so much, but most of all, you're relaxed personality comes over so well. You're not alone when it comes to being forgetful. You've made me feel at home in your page. Just love your work.

I love the results but when using cernit I always leech it first so that it's not so sticky but then after I've finished the block I put it into the fridge for a few hours. It's easier to slice that way. I always leave cernit out of the packet for a few days prior to using.

Hi Deb. I’m new to polymer clay and have just started. I love watching your tutorials! So helpful. I have a question please. When you make pendants what is the finished depth? I have an Atlas 150 and am using #3 for my backing. So would the top be the same? Or Smaller? And what about a vaneer, would you make the piece you put it on the same thickness as the back or would you necessarily have to add a back? Thank you so much for your input.
@clayboutique
Жыл бұрын
I don’t usually add backs to my pendants, I prefer to resin with glitter (see my tute for that). I do, however bake in layers for bangles. I have several tutes for those.
I've watched this video several times, I love it.what do you think of red or purple as a back?

This is gorgeous! Can you use silver glitter instead of the embossing powder? Thank you!
@clayboutique
Жыл бұрын
You could, but it wouldn’t look the same. Embossing powders ‘melts’ in the oven. Glitter does not.

I'm a newbie with polymer clay and I'm wondering, when you cut pieces straight from packaged clay, do you condition it first or just use as is? Trying to learn all these techniques.
@clayboutique
2 жыл бұрын
With this technique I tend not to first condition it, as it needs to keep relatively ‘hard’, except Cernit is really soft. The conditioning with this technique comes when it’s all squished back together. As you saw, the black clay had been conditioned and rolled before I used it. So, in answer to your question, the clayy needs to be conditioned first, unless you’re doing this technique - and depending on how hard the clay is, you might want to soften it up a bit first.
Great tutorial. Just wanted to ask it is ok not to condition the clay? I'm talking about the white and translucent clay that you cut up onto small pieces. Thank you
@clayboutique
Жыл бұрын
If it wasn’t ok, I wouldn’t have done it. It’s fine when doing this technique, as the clay gets conditioned as you’re working with it. It’s not a case of cutting off a chunk and throwing it straight in the oven. Polymer clay is considered conditioned, when it becomes workable. It became workable, therefore it is conditioned.

Ti segue dall Italia, i tuoi lavori sono molto belli, vorrei sapere dove si acquistano gli stampi di silicone che usi in questo vide, grazie

Because embossing powder has a different effect as it melts in the oven.
