    The experts of cernit clay always advise to leach the clay, which I do but also I bake the pieces inside the moulds where it's appropriate to do so. Love you finished piece. Prefer it sanded and buffed.

    Yes, I think I said that I should have leached it, but it was fine. I wasn’t going to leave it in the mold. For the purpose of the tutorial I need to show viewers what the piece looks like pre-bake.

    I love making faux stone and have done a lot, but this is my absolute favorite technique - all the translucent in it gives it amazing depth. I also tried it in blues and it is almost as pretty as the colors you used. You were right about just having to keep squishing it and the alcohol did a great job of cleaning off some of the foil. Thanks for such good tutorials!

    Hi Deb. I love this tutorial and how much fun you have with the stickiness of Cernit. I am so happy that you are supporting Yaroslav’s moulds because they are amazing! Kalyana taught me to use wax paper when rolling with moulds and cutting at an angle to not move the clay. These gemstones are absolutely beautiful! Everything you make is gorgeous! Thank you for sharing your artistic techniques and inspiration with us. I cannot wait to see what you make next! ❤️

I don't know much about gemstones ironically enough as much as I love working with jewelry and clay so if what I am about to say sounds crazy you know why lol. Thanks, Rosa! I love his moulds! I think this would look amazing in purple, just not sure you could still call it a prase pyrite in that color, but who cares, right? That’s what’s great about clay, you can do whatever you want with it! ❤️💕

    Stunning! Your ability to recreate a stone with clay stands out and above! The sanding and buffing alone...wow, or is it in part due to it being cernit? Do you think premo could achieve this? So, about the leaching, just roll into sheets and leach as you would any other clay? Can it reduce to not being at all sticky via leaching?? Lol, lots of questions. I bought the line of cernit metalics, and translucent but have yet to use...I'm on it now!! Beautiful job

  • @clayboutique

    @clayboutique

    Жыл бұрын

    I don’t think it’s to do with being Cernit. Premo buffs up just as well, especially the pearlescent and metallic colors. I honestly prefer Premo, except for Cernit trans. When leaching Cernit, do it the same as any other clay brand, but be careful. It tends to leach quicker, than say, Premo. I check after about three or four minutes to see how it’s doing. If it needs more time, do another three minutes.

    Molds for baking can withstand as much as 200 degrees Celsius, that's way hotter than you'd ever bake clay at. So why not use those kinds of molds for clay and bake it inside of the mold?

  • @clayboutique
