    this is the best tutorial out there for marble earrings I'm just curious about 2 things... is liquid clay necessary? or your work would be just fine without it? same question for the translucent slab, is it important too?

  • @TheCloverPatchClayCompany

    I usually use my pasta machine on the 4 setting for the transluscent. Then I do the slab as a whole on either a 1 or a 2 :). Sometimes its a matter of preference. Some people like the pieces to be chunkier and thicker versus some like thinner pieces. Do what feels right to you :)

    Hi Vivienne! I usually use either a super thin layer of whatever color the slab will be (like black for instance with the black marble or plain translucent if its a stained glass technique).

    Beautiful work!!! I have a question. I am new to polymer clay and have now made several pendants as gifts. I am considering whether to try to sell my pieces on Etsy and could use a little advice. Do trendy earrings sell better than pendants? I'm not looking to make a fortune but maybe enough to pay for my materials but would not be apposed to it growing into a small business. I am disabled and love having something I can not only sit and do but love doing it. Thank you for your time!

  • @TheCloverPatchClayCompany

    Hi there! We have only just started selling on Etsy so we are by no means experts, but from the little experience we have we can say that being able to sell things that are searchable or fit into a niche seem to be a bit of a leg up when trying to sell anything on there. For instance, any of our themed earrings have done better than our more generic earrings simply because they are something people search for versus something like our watercolor or marble earrings where there is a lot of competition on Etsy. Once you have a bit of a presence and have a few sales under your belt, I am sure it matters less because by that time you will hopefully have people who follow your shop and etsy will recommend your products more, but I would say if possible try to create a few things that people are looking for. Search around on Etsy for what pendants are selling and see if you can offer anything in a similar vein. I think one of the keys to being successful on Etsy is doing the research before you start!

    How long does the paint take to dry ? And after you place the bake and bond can you start roll immediately or it has to dry as well ?

  • @TheCloverPatchClayCompany

    @TheCloverPatchClayCompany

    2 жыл бұрын

    We usually leave the paint for a few hours before we check it, it will depend on what kind of climate you are in but definitely a few hours to dry. Once the bake and bond is on you can start to squish it together/roll immediately as long as the paint is already dry:)

    Do you have to use resin? Would satin glaze give the same shine?

  • @TheCloverPatchClayCompany

    @TheCloverPatchClayCompany

    2 жыл бұрын

    You will definitely get a shine using the satin glaze, but personally we have found that it just doesn't give us the same result as resin. We are going to be experimenting with different methods to get that shiny result in the future for those who prefer not to use resin so we have some alternatives to suggest:)
