hi there! 🌼 if you're curious about more polymer clay tips, I recently shared a short Q&A that addresses specific questions, like types of glaze! kzread.info/dash/bejne/oot4rKRqY9iTpc4.html

can i use my regular cooking oven for baking if i still intend on using it to cook meals? ive heard i have to use a seperate oven due to fumes making the ovens no longer suitable for cooking in but ive asked many chanels if thats true, non of them have answered me
To help with dust, hairs fingerprints etc. use a q-tip with rubbing alcohol and gently go over the problem area. Works like a charm. Great video.

Instead of rubbing alcohol can I use sanitizer or water????
I taught polymer clay for years professionally, this is a good source video. The only info I would add is that rubbing alcohol (I use a lower strength) is great to take out fingernail marks, dust, dirt etc prior to baking. Use a q-tip and gently rub. Also I find a smooth ceramic tile a must because you can create on it and then pop it in the oven and it bakes great. I have some videos for different types of projects I'd love for you to pop over and see. (I do paper and clay projects) You have a wonderfully accessibly and clear way of instruction and your video is full of solid information that gives the beginner a good grasp of the medium. Well done!

do you use the rubbing alcohol after the clay is baked or before?
@Dragonaiis
10 ай бұрын
@@leeann8105 I believe its used before baking while the clay is soft. It is used to smooth the clay. Because you don't want to use water

Do you pull the item off the tile and put it back on the tile to bake? Or will it come off fine once it bakes?
@MichelleRaeLandry
9 ай бұрын
@@monicab28 it comes off fine once it is baked and cooled. Baking on a tile does make the surface that's on the tile shiny, however if that bothers you parchment paper can be put between the item and the tile, mostly I just cook right on the tile.

where would someone find a class to learn this? asking since you said you taught it. :) craft stores? art colleges? just wondered if there is a place for a person to go learn. Also, as I was reading about the clay in an article, it talked about toxic fumes from baking and maybe the need to clean your oven afterward. Is there another idea for this because I would worry about this for sure. It might be a deal breaker if I have to worry about toxic fumes in my house or cooking in an unsafe oven. I'm sure you have heard this so curious what you might recommend. Thanks so much!!
this video has such warm, comfy, peaceful vibes. loved my 5 minutes 14 seconds
Smol tip: if youre going to glaze your art piece i recommend using Mod Podge (idk how to say it) like the white glue if you let it sit for a while it will give a glaze texture or use clear nail polish! I think most white glue / pva does work so maksure to expirement!

Hello! I actually don’t recommend using clear nail polish because it breaks down the clay after some time 😅 ( yes I have tested it)
My girlfriend and I just got into making polymer clay critters and this video helped a lot. Thank you!
I used to love playing with clay growing up, & have some arriving tomorrow. Super excited to build 'Mushroom Land' again. It's so cool that you can over bake the art projects to make them more long lasting. Thanks for the 101 for beginners video 🙏🏼

Thanks for so many helpful tips! I bought myself a little “get started” polymer clay kit six months ago, but I’ve been too nervous to start! I feel much more prepared and I think I’ll take the plunge and start playing with the clay today. I also love your art! Those little ghosts are sooooo cute ❤
My favorite part of this video is I'm watching it so I can try to make a korok and you held up the korok and it made me so happy.
This was amazing and I genuinely loved it. ADHD Crafting hit me hard and I want to make some clay pieces for DnD Mini figures. This covered every single question I had about going into this.

@AnAverageJoe1012

@@abigailmojica3025in a sense, yes. As someone who has adhd myself, people with adhd tend to jump from hobby to hobby really fast and its call 'fixations' where someone with adhd craves dopamine (which is a chemical reaction in your brain that causes the emotion happiness) and finding a lot of hobbys that you enjoy is a good way of getting dopamine.

I just started. I don't have a pasta machine yet and I'm not willing to invest until I see if I'm gonna stick with it. (ADHD). However, I got a cheap extruder off of Temu and found that is very helpful for conditioning the clay on the cheap. I just roll a ball into a rope and then extrude it once or twice with the biggest hole plate and it's soft and ready to work with. Very helpful. :)

Thank you for sharing.
For dust, hair, lint, etc. I go over all of my charms with a q tip dipped in acetone. I have two cats and it has saved so many of my poly clay charms! Also if you have a pasta machine that is another easy way to mix colors. Stick them together and run it through a few times and it'll mix them quickly and easily.

do you go in with acetone before or after you bake the clay?
@catiepalermo849
Жыл бұрын
@Miranda Jorgens after baking. Some people do it before, but I find it way easier afterwards.
awesome!
Try parchment or wax paper instead of foil, it's semi transparent so you have some idea of what color the clay is. You can go a bit further by squishing the clay into patties and wrapping the clay like a 'taco', and then put that into a ziploc bag. This helps keep my clay fresher but doesn't let it stick to the clear bag as easily.

Some people do use varnish too! Depending on the brand, it can sometimes result in a stickier texture, so that’s why I haven’t tried it more…yet!

Awesome video!! I was wondering, when you bake a clay piece, does the inside harden first or the outside? Is there ever a risk of a piece having a hard outside, and removing it from the oven, but the inside could still be soft?
