Man I wish I would have saw this video a week ago! I just tried hand pollinating two flowers and failed miserably - video on my channel about it - now I know why! You're the boss!

My understanding of opening a flower bud early to get pollen or to pollinate is that you may be able to create crosses of plants that normally wouldn't cross because the plant has not developed the rejection mechanism fully yet. Just food for thought.

Interesting. Havnt heard that one, but if doing this trick further enhances the chance of successful pollination.. happy days!

Something you can also do if you have an excess amount of polin, you can freeze the polin for the next time you need it. How do you freeze the polin? You gather all the polin that you want to store, spread it out, and leave to dry naturally, don't add heat, just your room temperature is good. 8 hours later, place the polin into a zip lock bag with a humidity absorption packet, remove all the air, and seal the bag, then take that bag and place into a second zip lock bag also with a humidity absorption packet, remove the air and close, before placing into the freezer. Make sue to label your bags so you know what polin you have. To use it, remove from the freezer 1 hour before use, allow it to warm up to room temperature well it is still in the packet. It will take 10 t0 20 minutes to do so, then once warmed, remove from the packet and let is accumulate to the temperature as you wait for the flower to bloom, then the polin use as you would do normally.

Hey mate, nice one, sounds good 👍 Pollen storage is definitely a viable option, and i'll eventually get around to making a video on how i do it too 👌

Great pollination tip - greatly appreciated - I also go one step further and squeeze the stigma closed after placing the antlers. Kindest regards Crow Ps. What is your average fruit weight yield per plant per annum ? - I seem to be averaging 5kg per crop x 3 crops per year = 15kg total per plant per year

Interesting re stigma. Might give it a bit of extra protection from dew/ insects 👍 I'll be honest, i usually only weigh the fruit that look particularly special/ big or a first time fruit. This year we gave away half our fruit to the tradies working on our house, so couldnt even guess how many we had haha

Does successful cross pollination occur with two self sterile flowers, or does one have to be self fertile ?

They can be both self sterile, they can both be self fertile.. or a combination 👍 Tyoically as long as they arent seed siblings where theyre genetically very similar eg purple haze and dark star, you should be fine 👌
