    These were on sale directly from Polk, new in box, at the same price for a while. Tough field for bookshelf speakers at around $500/pr.

    I’ve been following the Reserve line. I don’t think I’ve seen the R200 go as low as $500 but that’s a smoking price. They are on sale currently, across most of the authorized dealer websites at $599. In my humble opinion, these are the bookshelf speakers to beat at anywhere near these sale prices. Thank you for stopping by, my friend!

    Lucky man! The R700 is supposed to be one heck of a speaker! From everything I’ve read, the R200 and the R700 are supposedly to be the darlings on the Reserve lineup. Good choice:) Congrats on the incoming speakers!

    If you've never heard the Reserve's in person I think you will be surprised, especially if you got them for under $600. I guess it will depend on your taste, or what sound you like..but if you like the R3's I think your impression of the Polk's will be good..they are quite balanced. For me I preferred them over the Klipsch, I'm not putting the RP600 down, it just doesn't play as nice with all genres as the Polk's to my ears..but we all have our own opinions. I've tried the Polk's with numerous amps, a few AB, Class D, Hypex Class D, and currently Class G from an Arcam SA30. Great speakers for the price. Looking forward to seeing your shoot-out, review, hearing your thoughts and impressions. I've only heard the Klipsch in a poor set up at a local retailer.

    Great post, thank you! From everything I’ve read about the R200, I think they’ll be quite good. As much as I love my RP600M, they aren’t perfect. The Polk LSiM703 and these KEF R3, have spoiled me, I’m afraid. If gambled, from my research, my money would be on these Polks. The PeachTree has also caused me to start shopping for Klipsch replacements. It’s that good. It will be fun finding out what stays and what goes though!

    Should be an interesting review. I have, at this point, a very old set of the first Polk's that used a ring radiator, the LSI-7s. And they're a nice speaker, a bit laid back though, and the voices are not as forward as some would like. But, they are easy to listen to. Need a good sub, to fill out the bottom. They only go to 53hz and the low end is tight but not prominent. The LSiM series bookie improved on this design. And these current models, have yet another iteration of the ring radiator and a new port (the old ones were Polk's standard power port).

    Yeah, I’m excited to get some seat time with them. I just wish I would have kept my old LSiM703 so I could compare them side by side. So far, my initial impressions of these are that they are exceptional for the money, especially at the current sale price. Those LSi7 were supposed to be great speakers also. I really wanted the matching towers when they came out but I was totally broke. Haha

    I’ve been doing quite a bit of research, so like you, I’m pretty educated on my finalists. It was between these R200, Wharfedale EVO4.2 and Arendal 1961. When these Polks went on sale, it helped me decide. Plus, I don’t want to buy too expensive bookshelf speakers, like the Legend L200, since I’m trying to keep this channel more budget minded live me and my great subscribers.

    The little bend you mentioned on the wave guide what if it's meant to be that way?

  • @blazermdx

    @blazermdx

    Жыл бұрын

    Hello Naveen! No, it wasn’t meant to be bent. This little wave guide was designed to transport the high frequencies evenly. I think it just got slightly bent, due to it being an open box and someone bumped it slightly when packing it up. The good news is, it bent back to perfect with very little effort.

    hi, do you have an advice for affordable near field , low volume listening in a desktop setup ? thanks

  • @blazermdx

    @blazermdx

    Жыл бұрын

    If you aren’t looking to get a desktop system that’s crazy loud, I’d probably just go with a powered pair of monitors. JBL, Kanto and AudioEngine all make great sounding, powered speakers. I like powered speakers in nearfield situations as the bass is usually perfectly tuned for close listening. Also, be sure to check your local used market first. There’s usually quite a few powered options in my area.

    @@blazermdx makes sense, that i why i have jbl 305 but the constant tweeter hiss is annoying when not playing music, i was hoping there was an upgrade without the twitter hiss, how can $300 passive speakers not sound better than $300 active speakers as all the money goes into the drivers and cabinet design ? are there no passive speakers designed for near field, low volume listening ?

    Hi, How are you? Between the L200 and R200, which in your opinion is better for 2.0 stereo and why? Thanks.

  • @blazermdx

    @blazermdx

    Жыл бұрын

    Well, you came to the right place. I was torn between purchasing the L200 or the R200, so I did my research. I just love the looks and the build quality of the L200 but after reading tons of impressions on these two, I ended up going with the R200. It turns out they are audibly very similar so you would be paying around double the price for a slight bump in performance and mainly due to the over quality. Now if it wasn’t for the channel, I would probably have gone with the L200. I tend to be willing to pay for quality, within reason, more than most. But since I’m trying to angle this channel towards average folks, like myself, I figured the R200 would be more relevant to the channel subscribers. Plus, I wanted white. With all of that said, I know the L200 is more similar to the LSi703 I had, so I’m definitely going to grab a used pair, once they start popping up.
