Wow, I'm feeling really old here (this aired when I was in college). It is amazing how much times have changed in 25 years. Leslie Abramson is the only person making intelligent and accurate statements and the men just mock her. The audience mocks her too. This segment doesn't age well and I think it would play out totally differently today.

Can we give Leslie an award for saying *"Facts matter"* since 1997? Now we know just how right she was back then. And they were so disrespectful to her.

Evidence is such a difficult thing to understand especially if you’re not personally in the courtroom. It’s stupid how people who are obviously affected by the media had so much to say when they knew nothing compared to the fucking counsel of the trial.

All the people laughing are the part of the problem. They missed her point completely. Its very important for the facts that are presented in court to be very very precise. Blowing their heads of for killing them can make a significant difference in court. These men have no understanding of how important is to be very factual in court and how much damage a single word can make!

Facts are the difference between innocent people being convicted and guilty people walking free. She never denied they killed their parents but these men decided to ignore that it was self defense, not just parents being murdered. Those "figures of speech" are what lead the media to create sensationalist exaggerated headlines. These facts and distinctions do matter in court and they shouldn't be exaggerated and falsified for public entertainment. Thats why there continues to be so much misinformation.

lmfao look at you, criticizing Leslie for missing the point of a figure of speech in the same breath as doing it yourself. "the court of public opinion" doesn't refer to any actual court and it really shouldn't. making trials public in the age of television and internet serves less to make the process more transparent and more to turn it into a show.

No way, you heard the conversation? They were talking about speaking FACTS when literally what they said was contrary to the facts on the case. 1) “they blew their parents head off” A FALSE statement. their heads were not blown off. He might have used a phase wrongly here when he might have ment they shot his parents in the head. 2) they reloaded. No this sentence is FALSE and not a fact because only ONE of them did. 3) she said if he just said that the bothers had killed their parents then she would’ve agreed because it a a WHOLE DIFFERENT POINT. She did not sound dumb.
