Gentlemen's clubs have always had a role in modern politics. And, to some extent, they still do.
Though the hours are more social than serious business, the tradition of political discourse is still being maintained.
In a Daily Politics film, Giles Dilnot looked at the political history of gentlemen's clubs.

The National Liberal Club was very smart about turning its immense building into a club/hotel hybrid. Thank goodness those wonderful rooms have mostly been preserved.
Why do we have some bloke off the market (complete with waving hands) involved ?
They're not smoking here anymore, of course! God forbid!

I know why the rich have *so* many different rooms all for different uses. It's how they stay fit while at home. Heheh.
