Political campaigning in the digital age: Lucian Despoiu at TEDxBucharest

Lucian is a passionate entrepreneur determined to create meaningful connections between the political world and citizens. Where others see lies and false promises, Lucian strives for truths and earthbound programs. Where transparency, accountability and communication are found to be lacking, he throws in the tools and techniques to create a fair and effective link between politicians and citizens. It is for this reason exactly that he founded the two companies that promise to change the face of political communication -- Majoritas, Technology and Media, and Kondiment Group, the leading European Interactive Agency.
Lucian is an influential persona in the political marketing world, having successfully led more than 20 political campaigns in Ghana, Albania, Serbia, Bulgaria, Greece and Austria. Under his supervision and strategic thinking, the two companies have grown to offer full services and technologies to political parties, politicians and public institutions.
Equipped with surprising data, tools and insights, Lucian will take the stage with a global message on how voters can and should influence political parties in the new digital era. Be the leaders and creators of your own future! In the spirit of ideas worth spreading,
TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)

Here's 4 things for those who are running small campaigns (offices as small as Mayor or smaller).............................. Signs that you post in public areas and in peoples yards can be stolen. Letters that you send to peoples homes can not be (that's mail fraud). Signs don't say anything more than your name, the office you're running for, and the date of the election. Letters that you send to peoples homes can say anything you want them to. You can write 100 words, you can write 300 words. Most signs never have more than 8 words. Signs are not cost effective because you place those signs in places that people who don't live in your voting area can see. You're advertising to people that are not allowed to vote for you. Letters can be sent to only those people who live in the voting district that you live in. Since letters can be hung on the refrigerator until election day, you can advertise your campaign to more than one registered voter in every single family home (or apartment) that you send letters to. This includes people that are not legally registered to vote the day they receive the letter but could be legally registered by the date that the election comes up. Save yourself some trouble. If your campaign is for an office that does not extend beyond one individual town send letters first and then buy and place signs later.

this was horrible, 17 minute talk that could have been cut short to 10 if he simply would’ve skipped bringing up the important topics that he wasn’t even planning to talk about

and i dont think is accurate to say that facebook frew faster than anything else in the planet. Comparing a free internet platform to an empire is not really correct. And what about other things, like mobile phones? There are more facebook users or mobile users?
