    I just used my Helios 404 which I purchased for my light blue Subaru. I tried it out on my buddies Black 450 CLS which probably had never been touched by a soft cloth ever. I was absolutely amazed as it transformed right before my eyes. I allowed it to sit for 2 days then topped with BC2 after I did an IPA wipe down. Aside from the rock chips it’s newer paint now and it did provide some confidence as it’s not a very aggressive glaze.

    In detailing terms, buffing the surface after polishing with 403/404 is one of the most pleasurable experiences out there. If I were only allowed to have 10 polishes, I'd find a space for them both in my arsenal.

    I always recommend an IPA you don’t know what particles are on the clear coat even after a polish. Trifecta and finale don’t leave behind anything that needs to be removed with an IPA, but I would do an IPA before any coating (not wax)

    Steve so with 403 and 403 using is a primer base for all ceramic coatings with out effecting the longevity of that coating has then been tested with say Gtechniq CLS and EXO coated car. Just seem counter intuitive that acrylic base coat filling in the surface of the clear coat is stable enough to not effect the SIO2 coating. Just curious.

  • @xtreme_solutions

    @xtreme_solutions

    3 жыл бұрын

    Acrylics have been studied and used for a long time, they’re used almost everywhere. Once they cure they become as stable as your original clear coat. That acrylic will bind to your clear coat, and essentially bind the same way to the ceramic coating over top. We have hundreds of detailers in the network who use these underneath every coating they apply. Now I definitely can’t speak to those other companies ceramic coatings and how they will bind. Each company will have a different blend and I’m not sure how they formulate theirs and how it binds. I can tell you off the record the chances of their coating binding properly with 403/404 is 99.9% BUT I can’t study everyone’s formula to know for absolute certainty. If acrylics aren’t your thing which is completely understandable I recommend Finale Soft Paint Polish. No fillers no residue no leftovers

  • @TonyBuysCars
    @TonyBuysCars3 жыл бұрын

    Thank you for the explanation! A little bit of clarification if I may: On your website FAQ, it says that the cure time is only for keeping the 403/404 away from detergent washes, am I okay to put down a wax right after my polishing glaze? I just spent about 4 hours polishing my dark colored car with 403, then laid down LVR 336 perfection. Looks amazing! Should I expect the resin to harden underneath the wax or was it just a quick polish?

  • @xtreme_solutions

    @xtreme_solutions

    3 жыл бұрын

    Putting a wax down right after is fine yes the cure time only applies to cleaners and detergents. It really has to do with IPAs before ceramic coats. A wax right after 403/404 is perfect

  • @dreklin

    @dreklin

    3 жыл бұрын

    I would also just caution about using certain "speed" waxes. Some speed waxes have solvents in them. You can tell if a speed wax uses solvents since they will typically separate and the solvent will float on top of the wax. Solvents will wreck the acrylics before they have a chance to cure.

  • @xtreme_solutions

    If it’s new how much correction needs to be done? The less correcting that needs to be done the more you’re leaning to a polishing pad. If there’s some work to be done I’d go with the green. If not so much then the microfiber polish pad.

    496 doesn’t have acrylics, these do so it depends on your desired outcomes and if you’re looking for acrylic reconditioning. 403/404 are gentle enough for soft clear coat. So you really don’t need to use both it would be one or the other.

    @@xtreme_solutions Appreciate the quick response and great content. As someone newer to paint correction are there any reasons to use a pure polish in lieu of a polishing glaze (durability, appearance, etc.)? Especially with softer paints the idea of minor polishing and adding acrylics seems preferable to simply removing clear coat.

  • @xtreme_solutions

    @xtreme_solutions

    3 жыл бұрын

    Polishing glazes will most likely be safe for soft clear coats. When we’re talking about removing too much clear it really is directed at standard compounds. The benefits to polishing glazes, they GENERALLY will leave behind a bit more gloss and shine than a pure polish since it has that added glaze benefit. Acrylics do take time to cure so for those who just want a quick polish and to move on a pure polish would be more of their go-to. Thank you for the questions and kind words!
