Polish DP-75 Geiger Counter

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Polish DP-75 Geiger Counter, with alarm functions and a dosimeter charging port. The DP-75 Geiger counter was the replacement counter for the DP-66 series used by the Polish People's Army and is still in use with Republic of Poland, it is a very nice Geiger Counter unit, relativley compact and can measure reading from a 0.1x to 500x MilliRoentgen and Roentgen scale.
A headset can be plugged in to hear clicking an an alarm and it also runs off of three D cell batteries, meaning you can easily get batteries for it, I personally use rechargeable D cell batteries as it's a lot cheaper in the long run.

Yeah actually better in some ways, for example this can identify radiation of lower and higher levels than a smaller modern phone sized Geiger counter.

its pretty cool to see older technology still functioning today! This is very similar to my dp-5v, but has a few extra features that are pretty cool, I might have to pick one up.

Great video man. You should try and put a piezoelectric speaker on through the headphone jack to amplify the clicks. I did the exact same thing on my DP-5V and it's loud.

Weaponsandstuff93 Yea man just place the two wires from the speaker into each headphone plug and tape it down to keep the wires from falling out. The sound should register much louder and it's really cool.

Lovely video, I've always found geiger counters interesting but this video has gotten me searching for one again. So I'm here to bother you again! I found a Soviet DP5-A but the seller doesn't know if it's functional or not, what do you reckon is a good price? See you at your next stream!

DP-5 geigers tend to all be over £100 from what I've seen. This is a better model than the DP-5 but some people prefer the DP-5, bear in mind the DP-5 uses an obsolete battery format so you may struggle to use it.

I have same model! Quite good GM counter for its price, vintage model, but if is still working it can detect very low radiation levels from background radiation to post-apocalyptic nuclear war radiation 500R/h (very deadly dose - run away if you detect it). Of course is a bit big, heavy, needs 3 D-3 batteries available from Poundland in the UK (or R-20 batteries in Poland), also can be powered from any DC 10-30V source but plug is a bit awkward.

  • @Weaponsandstuff93

Yeah the issue I've found with smaller units like my Soeks is that they tend to be a jack of all trades Geiger that can't take serious radiation levels for very long before overheating.

DP75 is definitely better, it's a bit more compact, seems a bit more durable in some ways, has the alarm function etc and most importantly has a higher top end radiation reading ability, this has a X500 R/H function where as the DP66 is X200 R/H same as the Soviet DP-5
