Police Station Stealth Camping In Hammock

Well, I finally found my dream police station to camp behind. That was a strange sentence. When we traveled through after buying the school bus beautiful wife noticed a fantastic spot behind the police station. I gathered up my courage and my camping gear and headed into the woods there for a great stealth camping adventure in small-town Alberta.
I used the Hennessy hammock (zip asymmetrical) for this video along with a basic Teton backpack and sleeping bag. Please consider subscribing, and thanks to everyone who is following along on these crazy shenanigans.
Cheers!!

I just happened to randomly click on your freeway interchange stealth video and liked it so I click on this one and when the video started I thought "this seems familiar". Then I saw the condos in the background and realized this is my hometown! I grew up here from 71' thru 87'. The police station you camped by did not exist yet. There actually used to be a tree fort where the back of the station is. You camped at the tee off of hole 4. The original station is at hole 8. (My father climbed up the flagpole of that station and was stuck up there while the police stood in the driveway yakking directly below him and didn't even see him. He got away with it). One night around 2 am a few buds and I were riding our bicycles around and got stopped by the RCMP at the exact spot you entered the bushes. lol Last time I was in the Burger Baron was probably 86'. Still has that same faux brick counter i see. Thanks for the memories. Wow what an unexpected throwback this was. I must admit admit seeing this is kind of freaky. Spent my whole childhood and most of teenage years there. Some of my family still live close by. Great video. Glad to have found this channel. I'm subbin' . PS Kibosh that redlight, it's too much of a heat score.

Steve, my take on being stealthy with flashlights is this; People wont see the ambient light from your light. What they will see is the light source itself as you are aiming it around or have it set up high, illuminating down on the camp. I found these tiny AAA battery LED tap lights, about half the size of a hockey puck. When set low or on the ground, the ambient light illuminates camp, but there's no glare of light from the light source directly that people will see when passing by. Happy hunkering, my virtual KZread friend!

As a 19 year police officer (retired) I must say you give the police way too much credit on powers of observation when they are not in the problem areas or looking specifically for something/someone. Most are oblivious to their surroundings unless they are "switched on" to be on guard for (FOR) something. In my opinion, you were in no danger of being discovered unless you had poor light discipline (fire) or bright light.

Hey Steve, I’m a cop in the states, so I can probably explain that car idling all night if it’s done the same way there as it is here. That person would be the watch commander or supervisor(sgt.). They have a pretty boring job unless something big happens where they need to respond, which is why they mostly hang out in the car. They primarily sit in the car approving reports sent in by officers on shift, watching the radio for major incidents, and responding when needed. Hopefully that answers the question on why he never left after all those hours

@@MrIgottap : aluminium cans, glass bottles, plastic bottles and containers, and cardboard/tetra drink containers are all worth 10c each at the recycle centers in Australia (as long as the scheme's unique system barcode on the items are still scannable through the reverse vending chute). I know people who collect, and cash in over $100. worth quite regularly. This broadened scheme has only been (re)introduced again nationally for a few years now, but it has overwhelming public approval. I remember back in the late 50's and 60's (yes, I'm in my 7th decade now) there used to be a 6penny deposit on softdrink, milk, and 'long-neck" beer bottles (which we would do the rounds of our neighbourhoods, door to door, with our 'Billy-Carts' in tow, collecting them for our Boy Scout Group collection).

stealth pointer: at night,...that police station parking lot is brightly lit. that means 2 things. 1- thier nightvision is gone, and 2-those lights are hitting the vegetation between them and you. therefore,...all they can see is the first 18 inches into the foliage and then nothing but jet black. the contrast between the lit up foliage and the blackness beyond is too great and they certainly cant see you standing 10 feet deep in there. remember: the person closest to the light source is at the greatest disadvantage at night ---winning
