Your comment on the legal matter sounds inaccurate. You say he was charged with the death of the officer because he had intentions of killing the officer. Most states have laws that hold criminals responsible for any deaths that occur during the commission of a crime regardless of the criminal intent to kill or lack thereof. These laws even cover the deaths of accomplice criminals killed by the police during criminal activities. If the criminal gets into a car accident that accidentally kills his accomplice he will be charged with murder. This is the more likely legal status as to why he was charged with murder.

I know I totally agree. I can't fathom what he is going through. Jonathan's family stated they didn't blame his partner or hold him responsible. They knew it was complete accident

@@InfamousCrimeLocations The office is closed to the public still. When they open back up after Covid it’s a touching memorial in the main lobby.

When an officer gets gets killed in the line of duty in Phoenix, they get a "last call" permanent memorial sign where it happened. It states last day of duty and the officers name.

I wish we would do that in Canada. I love that idea a lot. We here on Vancouver island bc Canada we had a terrible death where a woman cop jsuf came back from having a baby and some drunk was speeding and ran into her and she was killed. The motor of the truck was sitting on her lap, it was so very sad and heartbreaking. They have a statue for her at the cop station but not where her life was taken.

When a Police Officer dies here in Washington it's Celebrated by the Liberals & not even acknowledged by our Politicians. And in Seattle our Govt. will allow our police station to be taken over and then put our police in a position where they are not allowed to protect themselves when being attacked by ANTIFA & BLM.

His partner must feel incredible amount of grief and guilt. Jonathan's parents forgave him and understand it was an accident

Mainly because the suspect was on the driver's side window shooting into the patrol car. Jonathan was in the drivers seat. His partner shot toward the suspect which Jonathan was in the line of fire. Hope that makes sense

I wasn't living in that moment though so it's hard to say what he was thinking. Regardless it is a sad story, however well presented on your channel. I see now when you said the shooter came up to to the cops window and started shooting at them. I can understand now how this horrible , tragic, accident happened. The total BLAME is on the shooter and I hope this MANIAC gets the death penalty!!! So ,so sorry for both these police officers.

Why would the suspect they were pursuing get the death penalty, as the other officer's bullet was the one causing the fatality? Vengeance/bloodthirst is not how the justice system works here in America. Also, there is no capital punishment for an "accident" as you stated. Good grief.

Thanks for covering this. I live near there and it was horrifying. We thought for a long time the suspect killed Officer Shoop. It was a bit shocking to find out that other officer had accidentally shot Shoop. Very sad.

It's because the suspect Henry, went up to the driver's side window and shot in, where Jonathan was sitting. His partner was in the passenger seat and returned fire and Jonathan was caught in the line of fire. Hope that makes sense

This is horrible 😢 I feel so bad for all involved. Rest in paradise Officer Shoop 🙏. I will never understand why some people feel the need to hurt others for no reason. I mean a simple traffic stop? I live like a mile from here. I remember all the sirens and helicopters/police drones that night.

I remember when this happened and saw some videos from some Apts to the right and behind of where the shooting occurred. But I wasn’t aware that his partners bullet was the one that killed him. The last I heard they were investigating if the bullet came from the partner or from the perp. How tragic! I cant even imagine what his partner must be going thru. Congrats on the 50k!!
