    On the weakness question what if I answer with the truth.. my true weakness is growing up in a tough neighborhood and genuinely feeling frustrated because I can’t make a difference in it for kids growing up there, or anywhere else similarly I don’t want kids feeling scared to go outside like I was growing up. These feelings to me are my true weakness and it’s the truth

    What are your opinions on this weakness statement. I have always been a procrastinator, I would always wait till last minute to do things. What I have learned to do to manage procrastinating over the years is to make a list at the beginning of the month. I make a list of my short term goals and long term goals. I look at and do my short term goals everyday and then I look at my long term and prioritize what I need to do first based off of deadlines. This has helped me stay in task and not procrastinate.

    While I like the improvement you have stated here, remember we are asking what is your current weakness at this very point. Law enforcement has a significant amount of assignments and self reliance, you can see where I am going with this is I was your board interviewer. Then if you try to state that you have learned to manage and correct it, I would not consider it a weakness in your interview. Hope this helps if you want to run another one by me I be glad to look at it.

    My weakness is that I naturally believe in what people say, so until I get conflicting information whether it be from another person or someone contradicting their previous statement(s), I tend to believe that. However, working with customers over the phones at my job, I have been able to pick up on hints of dishonesty (especially through recurring customers that have a history on falling behind with payments.) With people I work with face-to-face on a day-to-day basis, I have been able to pick up on subtle habitual tendencies that may stretch the truth to enhance the situation to the level of their emotion. So, although I find people believable as my weakness, I do my best to stay alert for any red flags that arise.

    An answer like this can open many different avenues of thought. First would this be a current weakness or a past weakness.

  • @donovancullum6687

    @donovancullum6687

    I would say it is a current weakness. If no red flags come up, I would have no reason to not believe that what they are saying is true. I may not have the best detection for what some red flags may be that others have caught onto through experience.

    In regards to the "what is your greatest weakness" question- if you do try to be genuine with your response or say something more personal like "I'm not great at public speaking, but I've been actively seeing a coach or doing "x" training to get better at it." I'm assuming that would still be a bad answer? What if you don't have anything that relates directly to the career like your computer crime example answer?
