And that horse wasn't wearing blinkers. It was wearing a mask. To protect its eyes from dust on the roadways. Blinkers are off to the side of a horses eyes to make them focus ahead so that they don't get spooked and to make them focus on their job. I was in the Metropolitan Police London.. now retired. When we had, some decades ago, a lot of football violence in the uk one of our horses one day was attacked by someone who stabbed it in the eye with a dart. Cruel and disgusting of course. After that on such occasions and certaibnly on riots I think our horses wore strong perspex (?) masks over both eyes to protect them from this. Sad reflection on some people that they think this is the thing to do.

As the horse language goes, if the ears are forward say hello, if the ears are back leave them alone!

As you rightly say beds and washrooms are shared on a frequent basis and we can be proud that the standard of cleanliness is superior to most hostels and hotels. The army and other military pay huge attention to cleaning. The effect of this is good health continually through the ranks

That's good to hear, especially as a British tabloid very recently published an article claiming the very opposite, with photos of rubbish piled high, rats, and general filth in the dorms etc. Mind you this 'newspaper' is not known for its calm reporting of facts, so I am delighted to hear somebody with actual knowledge has given us the truth. If you are a serving soldier or veteran of any of the forces, thank you so much for your service and all the best for the future.

I would never be a good one to go there, I would talk to the horses. LOL I don't talk to humans, but I do talk to animals. The latter are more interesting by far. Well, that is funny, using the PA to let the horse announce its imminent arrival. 🤣 This was a good one, John. Thank you for sharing.

i first came across Horse guards videos via a buska video, but i wasnt impressed by his comments in his videos, IMO hes a bit of livewire,. I moved on to london city walks months ago, and as u can see in this video i think it was the right decision, its much more infomative.

Blinkers are used for horses that are distracted by what's happening around them, that's why some are blinkered in horse racing to stop them looking around and focus straight ahead.

Loved the horse take-over of the PA system. What a great way to get the attention of the tourists.

Hello John, that really upset me , that man having a go at Buska, why have a go at him😟???? Please ask Buska of camera why. Oh by the way the blinkers are keep the horse focused and helps him from being spooked. You be careful.🙃

The eye covering the police horse was wearing weren’t blinders/blinkers. The covering looked like some sort of eye protector so the horse could be getting over an eye infection/injury or the horse is susceptible to debris getting in its eyes and causing issues.

I just watched another video with this same horse, very recognizable star and no socks. She bit nearly everyone who came up, and they kept standing right next to her, even holding little children next to her. One little boy was bitten hard enough that the guard on the horse asked the police to go check on the kid. Very nice of him. That didn't keep the next person from walking up within reach of her teeth. Very stupid. These people are keeping a sensible distance. I wouldn't walk up to a horse with her ears back like that. She's not having any of it.

You mentioned leaving behind luggage....the first time I visited London, we were at Heathrow, waiting to load onto the plane for the return across the pond. The police were patrolling with dogs(bomb dogs) and they found a trolley loaded with luggage. Another policeman with his own dog decided to take the trolley away. About that time, the owner of the trolley decided to make an appearance. Guess he couldn't make the choice to stay with his stuff. The policeman with dog let him know that he came very close to having his stuff blown up. This was when the IRA was very active, and we saw the crater that was left from one bomb. Pretty scary. Love your vids, John!! Stay safe out there!! NH. USA 🇺🇸 😊😊

Police know Buska, so talk to the other guy, and if needs be they come to talk to Buska. The other beauty is Tipper, he is gorgeous they both are. Horses are usually blinkered to help them to focus and not feel frightened in traffic, or flapping objects or anything else that might make them feel anxious. All the old cart horses always wore blinkers. This is sad poor Buska though why are people always picking on him? Good on the police finding out what the other chap allegedly from the National Front ( I thought they were now the BNP) was up too. so pleased you did intervene you are a kind man. Big problem if a fight had broken out others might have joined in and caused a really bad incident. So happy the tourists letting the horses alone the guards don't get their shoulders thrown out every time the horse pulls over to bite someone, it must pull their hands, wrists and shoulders quite hard. I know I have been nearly throw over the horses when hadn't realised it wanted to eat grass, it is quite a yank forward and it was only my second riding lesson, I didn't fall off though. Like that tea bus, so beautifully decorated. Hope that never happens a dog has its head bitten of due to it completely ignorant owner. Dogs should not be allowed near the horses at all! Well done Lyric successfully repelled the tourists, and tipper has been really been chilled!

Wonder what the Guards think when they find out they're going to be mounted on a horse that thinks tourists taste like chicken.... I'm always rooting for the biter. I love how Lyric looks at some of the tourists as if he's deciding whether they are worth the effort of biting or not. LOL Keep spreading the word and the horses won't be nearly as mauled around, it'll keep the chicken dishes at a distance. Has blinkers maybe because it's new and gets easily distracted?

the blinkers are use to keep the horse focused race horses some times use them too

They were not blinkers. Blinkers are very different. That was a mask; meant to keep objects like dust, flies, stones out or even perform as sunblock. The horse has full vision while wearing a mask. Blinkers are generally dense leather or plastic that do lock vision such as racehorses or harness horses.
