Police Are “Stuck Between A Rock And A Hard Place” When Policing Protests

Former Met Police Detective Inspector Hamish Brown MBE, says police are “stuck between a rock and a hard place” when policing protests.
Six people have been arrested as a St George’s Day event was held in Whitehall.
Videos posted on social media show disorder breaking out and people being detained by officers at the event, which was attended by Tommy Robinson, who was one of the speakers.
The Metropolitan Police posted on X, formerly Twitter, earlier on Tuesday to say they expected “far-right groups and groups linked to football clubs” to attend.
Four arrests were made outside a pub in Whitehall - one on suspicion of assault and three on suspicion of assaulting an emergency worker, the Metropolitan Police said.
Julia Hartley-Brewer says: “I don’t accept that! They could just do their job.”

@@brianferguson7840 St George fought and died for Christianity, and that is why we named him our saint. St Patric the patron saint of Ireland, St Andrew the patron saint of Scotland were both Roman. You don’t have to have come from that land to be taken as their saint. Have you ever listened to a speech by or interview with Tommy Robinson? Or is your information from secondary sources? I used to be contemptuous of the man until it struck me that I'd never heard his own views from his own voice. I had read and heard news reports about him. I had absorbed a lot of commentary about him but I had heard very little from the horse's mouth. So I searched out interviews with the man expecting my views to be confirmed. I was surprised. Very surprised. He was considerably more moderate and with more classically liberal leanings than I had ever thought possible given what I had read about him. He is very far from being a fascist unless one is misusing the term. It's true that he spent a short amount of time with the BNP in his youth but very quickly realised they didn't reflect his views. The EDL started taking on a life of its own after he started it and he saw it was moving in a direction he wasn't happy with so he stepped down and severed ties with his own organisation. Carl Benjamin did an interesting interview with him where they both agreed on a number of classically liberal ideas. It may still be on KZread I'm not sure. I'm not saying that you'd necessarily agree with him regardless because I know nothing about your personal viewpoints. What I do know is that the media have done and continue to do an utter hatchet job on this man and consistently misrepresent what he stands for and what he believes.

Watch him at the Oxford Union and many other speeches and debates he has done then form your own opinion. Was he wrong about the grooming gangs, etc? He has been disgracefully treated by the authorities as was proven yet again on St George’s day when he was cleared from the trumped up illegal charges. It is absolutely disgusting the way he is constantly targeted.

The footage I saw on Maya Tousi's channel showed people being blocked off by the police, a group of people tried to push through and the police piled in and 2 mounted Police joined the fray. I wonder if this unnecessary behaviour was a deliberate tactic by the police to agitate? Nothing infuriates right wing Brits more than being told they can't move about freely in what is supposed to be a free country. I don't recall ever seeing the Saturday marchers being stopped from going anywhere they want. Why were people peacefully celebrating our national day being blocked, kettled and bullied, in extremely stark contrast to the hands-off approach the police take toward the Saturday marchers? It's surely racial prejudice to treat people with dark skin better than you treat people with light skin. It's surely religious prejudice to treat Muslims better than you treat Christians and Jews. Isn't about time the Home Secretary dealt with Khan and Rowley for overseeing these acts of prejudice?

Julia, don’t surrender to the political marxists and Islamists, I had 32 years policing in this country and it sticks out so blatantly that the police on the block yesterday were positioned to cause as much intimidation as possible to create a story for the left wing MSM. They had been allowing free flow of pedestrians for ages before the main gathering approached their barrier. There were already hundreds of patriots on the other side of their barrier so they were deliberately put in a position where they were between two crowds of people both enjoying the same event. How dare that fool insult us and call us far right , I am a 61 yr old woman with a professional job and yesterday I went to London with a 68 year old woman on a walking stick. We made the journey to London as we wanted for one day of year to be proud of our heritage and celebrate St Georges day. I could not believe my eyes as I approached the gathering only to be met by police in riot gear , with helmets strapped to their sides ready for some action!! I have watched the protests in London for the last 6 maths, I have watched police officers being attacked verbally and physically, have fireworks thrown at them and have stood by as people have flown flags for Hamas and Isis/sang out 'from the river to the sea' seen the destruction of our monuments and not once made an arrest! Also not once have they been in riot gear whist the Palestinian marches took place! The police were itching to kick it off with the public yesterday and they are a NATIONAL disgrace To think that ordinary English citizens all in a great mood, a real feeling of camaraderie were met with such disgraceful intimidation and hostility is an absolute disgrace! Two tier policing doesn't even cut it, there is something far more sinister going on here !!

But Palestine marches Muslim's marches both flying their Flags Policestands well back the sizes of the marches are huge. Plus Police were very nasty towards a Jewish man trying to cross the road while the roads were blocked by Palestine marchers. Im sick of hearing Poor Police being stuck between aRock and a hard piece.RUBBBISH. why is it they drove police horses into old people just standing there knocking tgem to the floor. The British person did nothing. No wonder British people dont trust the Police we used to respect our Police Force. No one does now.

If you dare look closely you will see the undercover police doing the pushing and shoving of peaceful people then the main ones run off toward the police vans. Watch it and see what is happening, try it in slow-mo and see what the police and their sudden barricade was done for. Fake news for dummies!

@@blotontheland My point being that the police don't care if you have committed a crime and indeed will treat you better if you had, they have a rapore with known criminals, they will and always have treated criminals as their equals and the rest of us as scum - do you get it now?

If the police are stuck between anything, it is people who love Britain and people who don't!

St George’s day March is not a protest, it is a celebration of Britain and all its thousands of years of history which some people are trying to obliterate.🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿
