"This Is Now A National Emergency" | Reform UK BLASTS Rwanda Plan

Kevin O'Sullivan and Reform UK's Rupert Lowe criticize the government's migration policy, particularly the Rwanda plan, which they believe will face legal challenges and be ineffective due to the European Convention on Human Rights.
Suella Braverman and Robert Jenrick had resigned from government over this issue, with Braverman arguing that leaving the ECHR is necessary to make the scheme work.

@@coolhand1966It depends if you are really concerned about people in boats actually dying trying to get here or if you just don't want anybody to come here. The boats only started because the govt closed down just about all legal routes to get here. Hence a stack of boats full of genuine and not so genuine asylum seekers. So first I would take up the offer from France about opening up processing centre in calais. Genuine asylum seekers would use that centre. Then I would open up legal routes for countries that are known not to have genuine human rights or are worn torn. UK signed the UN convention on human rights and asylum seekers so we have a legal obligation. This wouldn't stop the boats but it would greatly reduce them. Govts own figures show 70%of boat crosses are genuine asylum seekers. But if you want to really cut the legal numbers then the criteria that the home office use to assess the right to live here has to be toughened up. UK let's in a bigger percentage than a lot of other countries. Yet according to the migrant league table the UK is only 18th in Europe for the intake of refugees /asylum seekers. Banning all immigrants from coming here would mean dropping out of ECHR and the UN convention and make the UK like Russia and Belarus and that wouldn't be a good look. .

Israel had a "voluntary departure" scheme for 4,000 migrant deportations with Rwanda between 2014 and 2017. Most were driven straight to the border. Almost all are thought to have left the country almost immediately, with many attempting to return to Europe via people-smuggling routes. Rwandan homes that were previously earmarked to house migrants deported from the UK have already been sold to local buyers. the developer has said. Some 70% of the 163 affordable homes on the Bwiza Riverside estate have been sold, the developer ADHI-Rwanda said. On top of the £220 million Britain has already paid Rwanda, the UK government has agreed to pay an extra £150 million over the next three years, and £120 million pounds once the first 300 asylum seekers have been resettled, the National Audit Office (NAO) said on Friday 1st March 2024.

I could not disagree with any of the points made in this broadcast. Sadly, the two main parties have a completely opposite view and I have heard too many promises from both Labour and the Tories when in Government, that ,with hindsight, I realise now, they never had any intention of truly implementing. Stopping this illegal immigration is not what they want to do. Where there is a will there is a way. If they really had the will , they would have done it already. For some reason they do not want to stop this and they are lying to us.

Airlines will refuse permission for anyone to board a flight without the regular legal documentation. Some genuine asylum seekers may not have this if they have fled a worn torn country and some will throw it away so they can not be sent back to their country of origin. And some undoubtedly will be wrong uns, it's up to the authorities to question them and find out. There are no easy answers.

Yes I'm glad Australia had a backbone and stuck with their tough stance on illegal boats arriving on our shores, and way back the world was finger pointing and calling us all kinds of names for doing so! If we didn't stick by our convictions we would be in the same mess as the UK! You have to get tough and make it known to arrive illegally and they won't stay, and that means they need to be detained not left to freely wander around at the detriment of the people living there!
