Electric cars come in all forms these days, but arguably, there hasn't been one to really hit the spot for those who enjoy pure, simple driving thrills. With the stunning Polestar O2 electric sports car, that might change. This show vehicle is designed to prove that the modular aluminium architecture that will form the base of the Polestar 5 saloon can be adapted to also support a more dynamic, focused sports car. And Polestar’s boss, Thomas Ingenlath, has already suggested that while no firm production plans are in place, he has a long-term vision of adding such a model to his brand’s line-up.
In this walkaround video, Nicola Hume explains what we know about the project so far, and reveals details of a potential production version which could arrive in as little as three years time.

This is stunning. Polestar has huge potential with it's design and company ethos
Great preview review! Looking forward to seeing this on the road. We're entering into another golden age with EVs taking center stage as the tech matures. By the time this hits the road, batteries, charging, and the infrastructure (sourcing, delivery, storage) will all be much more rational and usable. And we'll be having more fun in cleaner air!
Polestar O2 and Nicola have this in common: they both turn heads and look gorgeous!
Wish the car could be more A5 Coupe-sized but still looks good. Nicola is such a talented presenter!

@@saratov99 DS is Citroen but they're easily distinguishable from one another. Polestar may be the sister brand to Volvo but that doesn't mean they're not entitled to their own identity.
Nicola Hume X Henry Catchpole would be a perfect matchup for a road trip special episode.

Just need it to be affordable.... Looking forward to the day when electric cars become more affordable and with plenty of choice for performance/fun to drive variants. An electric equivalent of a BMW m340i would be ideal for me. Fast, fun and practical family car is required.

Toyota has said they might bring back the mr2 as an ev mid decade. Porsche has said the next 718 boxter and cayman in 2025 on a dedicated ev platform weighing within 100# of the current cars. Lotus has said a 2 seat rwd purpose built ev as light as an emira is coming by around 2025. So they are going to get built eventually, demand dealer markups and stsrting msrp will all be very high though sadly. But then a miata isn't really cheap anymore either. 🤔

@@shoelessjoe428 Toyota already showed it off earlier this year in the background along with the upcoming ev lfa. 👍🏻 No set plans for it of course and no public info yet either. But there was a compact sleek low 2dr coupe shown besides the lfa concept. The lfa ev was also shown off last month at goodward btw, so they intend to make it and it will allegedly have solid power's ss batteries in it.

Aren't there electric sports cars already?
The screen should be landscape, the plus 2 is worthless as that roof takes away all the rears headroom. Other than that it should be launched as a 2 seat roadster in my opinion that way they definitely aren't entering the horsepower race, a roadster does not have to be super fast, the old MX5 was slow and still sold plenty of units.
If that went into production the price tag more then likely is going to well in excess of 100k perfect for a world going into recession

Really? The original Tesla Roadster came out when? … and this is a “concept car” … “could”, “might allow for”, etc., etc., etc. Love that Volvo has ventured into some non-boxy vehicles, but this is a “maybe one day” car akin to Autoshow concepts.

It looks very ‘modern’…but not what I would call pretty or beautiful. The curvaceousness of, say, a Porsche or a Ferrari - now that’s pretty. But this O2? Looks too…bulky and heavy in its design
