Polestar 2 - How is consumption towing a huge trailer?!

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

The Polestar 2 has a tow hitch with 1500kg capacity. More than enough for me. In this video I will show you how the consumption is when towing a big, box shaped trailer. How is the towing range?

Wow. Not bad. I thought the consumption would be a bit higher. Thanks for the video. Looking forward to the next. Blessings!

Thank you! :) With an open body trailer the consumption is a lot less. All in all not that bad.

Nice informative videos! A bit off topic maybe, but I wonder how you get the TM and TA to be visible on the screen without entering the trip menu? On my car it is not visible. Vennlig hilsen Magnus

Select display in menu 'carsettings'. In that menu you can choose 2 items to visualise

Based on this test and other driving, what % increase in consumption would you say you experienced?

  • @Vegard-Driving-Somewhere

It would be around 100-105% increase I'd say. The lack of aerodynamics of the box shaped trailer has a huge impact on consumption. With an open trailer the consumption will be less, maybe 40-50% increase, depending on the trailer from my experience.

@@Vegard-Driving-Somewhere Wow so it halved the range?

@@SpectrumGeeks In my case it did, yes. There is a lot of variables here though, so it might be different result on another trip. Dry or wet roads, headwind or tailwind, temperature, speed limits, topology and so on.

@@Vegard-Driving-Somewhere Cheers for sharing. My Polestar 2 arrives next week and I have some towing plans so this is interesting.

Wouldn't it have been a good idea to tell us the weight of the trailer? Or towed a trailer of a known weight?

Hi, the weight of the trailer is 630 Kg with about 100 Kg of cargo, so around 730 Kg in total. I`m no expert, but I belive most of the added consumption is due to the poor aerodynamics and less due to the added weight. (both of course add higher consumption). I got lower consumption when driving with an open trailer of similar weight. Putting consumption aside, driving the P2 with a trailer is a great experience! There is so much power in the car you barely notice the trailer :)
