Pole Vault Progression - 7th-10th Grade (0’-13’) Middle School - Sophomore Year

Спорт

I’ve been pole vaulting since 7th grade and I just finished my sophomore year in high school. I don’t have a video for every single meet I’ve competed in, but I have a lot of them. I know 100 subscribers isn’t a lot, but I wanted to make a video when I hit 100 subs so I thought a progression video was a good idea. I started vaulting in 7th grade because my friends talked me into it. It’s crazy to think that I’ve been vaulting for 4 years already. Time truly does fly when you’re having fun :)

your form definetly improved a lot, its looking way better. I am a pole vaulter at Sam Houston and a couple of things that I see in your videos that I think could be very benificial to improve would be your run, your pole cary, and your grip. While running you should try and be tall and get your knees up, this will help you run faster and it will help you be taller at take off so that you arent getting hit when you take off. Running taller will also help your pole cary, I noticed in the videos how you were almost jousting and that will slow you down because you are trying to hold the pole up the whole way. If you start with the pole higher and slowly bring it down as you run it will help you not be squatty and feel like you are falling into the pit. finally your grip, It slowly got better throughout the years but I still feel like your hands are a little close together, if you widen your grip like a fist or so it will help you bend the pole a little easier so you can get on bigger poles.

@@SILENT.EXEPRODUCTIONS I’d say try to focus on keeping your arm on the inside of the pole and getting your legs up high. Keeping your arm on the inside will help you go straighter. Also it will help to focus on your turn and pushing the pole away.

so work on your plant. you take off from a different point everytime. You are usually way under on your plant. It will effect you on longer bigger poles and higher heights.

@@ohtoasty4297 I am at the top of a 13’ pole and my PR is 13’. Inverting is very confusing lol. I struggled for so long on it. The best advice I can give you is: 1. Don’t pull on the pole mid-vault. You want to have a strong plant and you can’t invert well if you pull on the pole and muscle your way up and over. Keep pushing. 2. Inverting is very similar to how you start when your about to start running with the pole. You want to get into that position when your upside down and get your arm on the inside of the pole. 3. Practice lol. Look up some invert drills on KZread. If you have any questions, let me know 😄👍
