Pole Mount Solar Array on the Mountain

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Part 1 video fabricating the pole mount solar array is here • Solar Panel Pole Mount...
This is a Part 2 video installing the four-panel solar array on the Mountain. Our temporary location ended up in solid rock. Both good and bad, it doesn't take much cement to fix a steel pole solid to the ground, but it is difficult work. Softer ground would have required a longer pole in the ground and related cement work for a safe anchor.

Don’t know how much you have watched so far but there is a playlist for this panel mount and our server rack all in one control, inverter and battery storage. It has been very convenient plugging in saws, air compressor, cement mixer and other appliances without having to fuel a generator. We will be able to do full on construction on our house with the available solar power. Thank you for watching!

I think that jack hammer is really a hybrid. You can hear the generator rev up when it's hammering. 😂

Hard work is worth it. You learn a lot, get to keep the tools needed for the job, and save a lot of $$$. Most of the time when I have had work done for me, quality was lacking or there were problems later. Thank you for watching!

I install these as part of my electrical contracting business. Your homemade mount is very similar to the mounts I buy. I think yours is over built for the 4 modules unless you snow load is very high. Good job!

It is over built but since scrap material, cheaper than spec materials. Doesn’t hurt to over build for the odd winds out here. Going into solid rock helps. Thanks for the comment and thank you for watching.

Wouldn't it be easier to poor a thick slab and mount the pole to the slab?

In time, work and material, drilling a hole was the cheap, short route. But only because it was solid rock and a temporary placement. Every situation can require or benefit from different solutions. Thank you for watching!

I fabricated everything from junkyard metal. I had to buy the 12” top cap pipe because it was hard to find a small piece locally. The Uni-strut and hardware is new.

Here is a playlist for some of our solar projects. One video is the mount build. I fabricated the main post mount. The rest of the mount is “uni-strut” or “super strut” from Menards, Lowe’s, or Home Depot. kzread.info/head/PLqbvRJ6oY7GRPBJ7vvSRB1fTSwnsRP4fK

Have considered that. Biggest obstacle is the cost. Once the holes are drilled, breaking is not too difficult. Would still have to drill the holes for the demo grout. We have dug out about 18 yards of this rock for footers. We have some other large holes to made and still may find a place where demo grout may bail us out. Thanks for watching.

@@jasonbroom7147 You are exactly correct. Our land is either solid rock or fractured rock. Moving around is a waste of time. You just pick a spot and expect to work.
