Yeah, I was stupid enough to buy a second hand Polaris...a 1996 300 Xplorer. Almost none of the electrics worked but it ran without a battery for 5 years until the voltage regulator died (because the current generated had nowhere to go). I installed a battery and VR today but had weak electrics due to a corroded terminal at the solenoid. A shot of Wd40 and the starter cranked over...a bit of delay with the Bendix engaging then it purred like a kitten.I had lights and the AWD solenoid worked. I found your video while I was trouble-shooting the circuit but thought I'd share that the 24 year old LH switch assembly on the Xplorer has had ZERO protection from the elements and is exposed to severe dust so I was expecting it to be tragic internally but seems the later model Polaris electrics are more prone to failure. Cheers.

hey Dustin, I have the same quad. love the led lights and handle grips. could you please do a video on how the fuel lines are run. I bought it brand new and my kids really miss riding it. family member replaced carb and took fuel lines off now I can't figure out how they go. i.e. fuel pump , carb , tank or on off reserve. originally problem was gas leaking from carb. new carb and still was leaking. any help would be appreciated, sorry so long. thanks..

Ronald Spencer, thanks for the comment. The led lights were the best upgrade I've done (close 1st to the sprocket upgrade and annoying exhaust fix). As for the fuel line routing, it's funny that you mentioned your problem. I made a video about fixing this fuel pump/valve problem while I was replacing all of the fuel lines about a year ago and I never uploaded the video. I'm working on uploading it right now. I found the video that I had shot nearly a year ago today. I had to take the fuel tank off to clean it and replaced roughly 7 feet of 1/4" fuel line hose. I also eventually replaced the fuel pump, though that was not recorded. My video is pretty descriptive on how it all goes back together and I included an optional fuel line bypass for the fuel pump if you're having a fuel flow issue. Thanks for reminding me about this upload I had forgotten about. Subscribe to my channel if you haven't already and you'll see when my upload gets done. Best of luck, thanks for the comment and I best of luck with your trail boss! Taking mine out trail riding tomorrow morning with the wife and my warrior 350. Hope to get around to uploading trail videos sometime in the future.

Carmen Lugo start by checking your switch, wiggle it and see if quad will stay running with switch preloaded to one side or the other in run position. Next I’d check your fuel delivery. See on my videos how to diagnose fuel flow issues. As always, start with cheapest fix and make your way up to more expensive fix. Usually with these quads it’s something relatively simple, bad wire, collapsed fuel hose, dirty/clogged filter etc. best of luck. Thanks for your comment.

Karen Adams sounds like it could be a multitude of issues. First thing to do would be spraying starting fluid directly into air filter and see if engine pops. This will help you determine if your electrical is working properly. If it doesn’t pop with starting fluid then you’ll be looking at a bad switch potentially, it’s expensive, but my guess would be the switch, especially if the quad spends a lot of time outside/exposed to the elements. There are many switches out there, be sure to buy the one specific for your model and year. If engine pops or starts with starting fluid and then dies off, check my channel for “Polaris won’t start, fuel pump replacement”. This is a video that replaces all fuel lines, cleans fuel tank strainers, and replaces fuel pump. I hope this helps you.
