A little update on my project,I manage to disassemble my diff(05 ranger) seems to be easy to do with a socket (1 3/4) with 1” drive so the pinion fits thru the 1” square and then just grab it with a big pipe wrench or if you can weld something to it as “handle” that works too and for wedge I grab from the auto parts this piece they sell to remove stripped bolts (it’s like a ring with a sliding chisel, you set the chisel in one groove of the pinion and pry it to avoid spinning) in my case I had to sacrifice the “$30 nut” drilling two sides to cracked it loose since was very rusty, the cheapest way for parts: order the shims oem will be two different sets :2875332 and 2875333 For bearings all balls sells this kit ($125) but it’s not complete instead I got east axle brand for $67 ,oem shims was about $45 , I hope this help

Could this pinion shim kit also be used on a RZR 800 rear diff? I guess it shoulb be the same pinion shaft but I'm not sure. There's none specially available for the RZR.

I have the same problem with my 05 ranger ,when bought it the guy never gave any maintenance and inside the diff was no oil and the remaining lube was thick and smells like water mixed,so researching all I can get it’s this seal kit this guy mentioned but taking it apart is the challenge, the nut size it’s 1 3/4 but deep as hell ,dealer uses a special socket 12” deep so go figure,a forum posted HPD as a vendor for this diff, they sell the socket and a wedge to hold it from spinning,I hope this help someone

Hi, I wanted to know if in the course of rebuilding the rear differential, you removed the turf saver. I've replace 2 burned out solenoids, the turf saver relay, and am considering removing the part that actually actuates the differential (did not start after relay replaced, will check wiring and battery first). It's a small black cylinder, kinda looks like an oil filter. Is removal difficult or complex, or does it just unscrew and pop the next one in. Thanks for your videos, and good luck.

Yes, that solenoid just threads in, I'm sure it could be eliminated. Yiu have to come up with some sort of plug instead of the solenoid
