When we started this job, we thought we were just going to replace the wheel bearings. However, this one needed a lot more work.
In this video from Partzilla.com, John will show you how to replace the wheel bearings on your Polaris Ranger 800 Crew, but he’ll show you how to replace the hub on your Polaris Ranger as well. We’ll also replace the half-shaft on this Ranger.
We’ll start by getting this unit on jack stands and removing the wheel. From there, you’ll see how a combination of worn parts and stuff that doesn’t even belong have combined to tear up the right front corner of this Ranger.
John will show you how to remove the caliper and hub in order to access the old wheel bearing. But because the old wheel bearing was ruined, it had damaged the hub. We’ll press in a new wheel bearing and we’ll show you how to do a hub replacement on the Ranger, which includes installing the wheel studs and the brake rotor.
The old and missing parts also damaged the half-shaft, so we’ll do a half-shaft replacement on this Ranger before we put everything back together again.
Our unit has aftermarket wheels, but if you have factory wheels, the torque settings are different depending on the material used in the wheel.
Steel wheels: 35 foot-pounds per lug
Aluminum wheels: 30 foot-pounds per lug

I watched the video and was very impressed taught me quite a bit about torque the anti-seize on the inside of the hub, and how you greased it thank you so much
Outstanding detail! I appreciate your use of a torque wrench as well. Pride in craftsmanship is hard to find and it's obvious you have it.
This guy has patience like a saint!
Excellent job showing how it's done! Thanks Bob
Is all that play from the bad bearings, or from the loosened lug nuts too?
Nice video, learned how to change the studs which was what I was looking for. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 thanks for great videos 🙌🏻
Thanks for the video sir! Saved me so much time and frustration.
Great vid , thanks John! My mechanic friends said they'd never use red loc-tite on the bearings. What are your reasons for using it?
I like the video. You explain the process very well. I was wondering if its ok to use green marine bearing grease instead of the red high temp. grease? Thank You.
I just found your videos. Thank you. Excellent detail indeed!
