It doesn't happen EVERY year, but it happens often enough: Where we live, there is NOTHING to stop the air from the arctic circle from sweeping on down the plains over the winter .. and when it does, All bets are OFF. In order to avoid costly repair bills, we are shutting off our water. This is an easy chore to do .. but it would have been more pleasant if I had done it yesterday!

Oh, That's cold! Reminds me of those stories we used to hear, about how grand dad had to go outside in the dead of night during the winter.. "He would dress up as warm as possible, and take a maul to the chimney pipe, to break the smoke apart that got frozen in there. One year, it froze so hard, we took bits of that smoke and put them in the ice house. We had fun playing with those all through the summer .." Stay warm if you can!

I grew up in Minnesota, so I have experienced exactly what you mean. That’s why I retired to north central Arkansas. I still have four seasons, but the winter is not as brutal, the summers are longer but not particularly hotter, and the leaf coloration of autumn is still good.

We got ready for the cold snap BEFORE it hit. At least one neighbor waited until the rain started and the temperature dropped before he decided to get firewood. Did I feed sorry for him? NO!

Our are buried deep enough here in Michigan so I've not had to do that before. Cool to watch though, thanks for sharing!

Hi there bud .Just using your channel chat to send a message about Greg's upcoming video. Messages are going missing. Perhaps they are being filtered ,but my 2 comments to Nurse went missing as well as hers .Just needed to make a note of this .Maybe it will correct by itself.

My pipes froze up twice a couple of days apart. I turned my kitchen tap on after the pipe thawed and let the water run at a trickle. Seems to work as temps have been in the single digits.

Crescent wrench is a bad idea black widows love those things. Just by the pole it's much safer and easier

Absolutely! I used the wrench trick one time, and decided "Nope. Not going to go through that again" The key I'm using now came with the house - its over 80 years old!
