FACTS

Apart from Polar’s music being inferior, so too is her design. They made Miku unique by giving her a lot of things to make her stand out. Huge ponytails, a tie, and weird power glove arm sleeves. Her design also has a fixed color palette, which leaves her looking a lot less cluttered and she’s in the anime style. Polar, however, only has her mask, and that’s it. She doesn’t have anything else that makes her stand out and has a kinda messier color palette. Her design style is also worse, being just that of a bratz doll.

the reason why separate ways sounds so much like sweet but psycho is not only because the beat is the same but because it has the same chord progression. for people who don't understand music theory, yk how some notes go together and others don't, right? the notes that go well together is called a chord. a chord progression is a pattern where a song switches between the same chords. so yea, there is a possibility separate ways was "influenced" by sweet but psycho

Polar is from TheSoul Publishing (the same people who brought you 5-Minute Crafts, 123 Go!, and Brightside), who are based out of Cyprus (despite being Russian). Hence the 5-Minute-Craft-like live action scenes (I'm pretty sure those are from actual 5-Minute Craft videos). As far as I can tell, she is actually voiced by a hither-to unnamed singer/actress that TheSoul hired. It's how she can have consistent natural cadence in both her spoken and singing voices. TheSoul also clearly used motion capture (or mocap) to animate her. Mocap has well-known problems when you map the animations to models with non-human or exaggerated proportions. This is because the actor and the model aren't 1 to 1 (ex: visible "head twitching" on a large-headed model, large hands clipping through limbs and face, stiff or "floating" movement). It doesn't help when her model's physics get broken or glitch, which is what is happening when her hair "vibrates" (the tendrils of her hair are 'colliding', both with each other and likely the pillow).

The thing that upsets me a lot about the visuals is that whoever made them did have some good ideas! Like the mask is cool, but in concept. It feels like if you only did a few tiny changes and made the animation less stickbug-y she would look really really great

I love that despite everyone talking (badly) about her, her views aren't growing that much

I feel that the tune, the melody, the mixing could all be music on its own. It sounds pretty nice in my opinion. It’s really the painfully bland lyrics, the fact that Polar’s a meta verse singer, and the fact that she’s from the same creators of 5-Minute Crafts which inhibits me from listening to her music. Plus, I hate the character models, they look so ugly that I can barely watch it without getting secondhand embarrassment. But can I just say that somehow the IRL scenes are so much worse than that?

If anyone is questioning the La La Love Visualizer music videos Polar has (the music videos with real people in it) and why the scenes they're shot in look like a 123GO! set, that's because they are. If you look closely at some of the school life hack videos, they tend to use the same sets. LaLaLife is a sister channel of 123Go, along with 5 Minute Crafts, SMOL (this one is a new one), Slick Slime Sam, and a whole bunch of random craft channels that somehow blew up.
