Description: Mazurek Dąbrowskiego, in English officially known by its incipit Poland Is Not Yet Lost, is the national anthem of the Republic of Poland.
The original lyrics were written by Józef Wybicki in Reggio Emilia, in Northern Italy, between 16 and 19 July 1797, two years after the Third Partition of Poland erased the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth from the map. Its initial purpose was to raise the morale of Jan Henryk Dąbrowski's Polish Legions that served with Napoleon Bonaparte in the Italian campaigns of the French Revolutionary Wars. "Dąbrowski's Mazurka" expressed the idea that the nation of Poland, despite lacking an independent state of their own, had not disappeared as long as the Polish people endured and fought in its name.
When Poland re-emerged as an independent state in 1918, "Dąbrowski's Mazurka" became its de facto national anthem. It was officially adopted as the national anthem of Poland in 1926. It also inspired similar songs by other people's struggling for independence during the 19th century, such as the Ukrainian national anthem and the song "Hej, Sloveni" which was used as the national anthem of socialist Yugoslavia during that state's existence.

Jokes aside it's sad to acknowledge all those cool quotes were made from tragedies. Wars belong only in movies and video games.

its so hard not to tear up while listening to the polish anthem. their history is almost always being invaded by some foreign government and the lay the lyrics portray them is so well executed its beautiful

Also about anthem: in my opinion this song must be modificated because bonaparte only supported poles because it was helpful to him and for some reason many poles treat that frenchman like some sort of hero. If we must talk when france serously helped poland people is ww1

@@knpark2025 It was about return of exiles, I mean you can compare it to return of founders of First Republic of Korea after Japs left. The exiles were able to recover half of former Poland after they returned and "joined the nation".

When I was in Władysławowo I've seen flag of Botswana on somebodys balcony lol, but I realized it's similiar to flag of Władysławowo itself, so I assumed they used what they got. It''s the same here. My first thouthg was about Kashubia. I have no idea how tf Silesia came to all your minds, mayby cuz colors are similiar. Anyway, symbols are matching and Kashubia makes more sense than Flanders. It may be Pomeranian Voivodship too, but I doubt it since local patriotism is weak in Poland and any will toward decentralization is being seen as kind of weakening of Poland and going back to fragmentation of the realm like in medieval times. I'm going political here, sry.
Sad part is that this was heard before poland was annexed by the germans

Shockingly like usual Poland 🇵🇱 Polska came through despite the worst things happening to it. I swear few other countries outside the global south had such unyielding trauma and tribulations. Like when the Wehrmacht surrounded Warsaw and Radio Warsaw blasted this on a loop Poland is Not Yet Lost!
