Wait ... I don't think that genetics work like that. A child doesn't only consist out of the dominant traits his or her parents have. For example, it's perfectly possible for a blond father and a brunette mother to have a redhaired baby if both of the parents have the gene required for red hair even though it's a submissive gene when compared to blond or brown hair. It's unlikely but it is possible.

You aren't likely to have two light haired parents with a black haired child, but it can and does happen. The genes are still there, and gene expression can be mixed and even change over time. His mother, for example, has brown hair, which is a common result of having genes of both light and dark hair. If the father also had brown hair, their children could end up with black, brown or even light hair, depending on which genes were passed on. By the same token, the attached earlobe is actually rarer and a recessive trait, but it isn't a guarantee of gene expression based on having two parents with attached earlobes. That doesn't make it wrong to analyze these as genetic traits, though. While the brown-hair parent, black-hair kid as a factor is wrong because of how hair color (and eye color) works so heavily off of gene expression, the other aspects are enough to make a sound argument. You can't actually rule someone out or definitively say someone is a parent, but it can definitely make a case for it. As a rule of thumb, though, if it can change over the course of your life, it isn't a genetic trait you can expect the dominant-recessive model to hold up for, and hair color is one of the most obvious examples of that with peoples hair darkening or lightening depending on their age, sun exposure, how much they spend at the salon, and diet. It's extremely common for blonde hair to start out red, lighten to pale yellow, then darken as a child ages, and it's also common for black to fade to brown over time.

It can't be Ash's dad, since we can see the hair, and the hair is brown. In order for him to be Ash's dad, he'd have to have black hair, or at least a hair color that, when mixed with Delia's brown hair, can reasonably make the tealish shade of black that Ash's hair is. He was probably just a passing trainer.

Codrian Drasil Ash's black hair is definitely a recessive gene from his mom. You don't get your hair genes from your father, you got your hair genes from your mom so the same can be said for Ash so it doesn't really matter what his dad's hair color was.

They didn't mention Ash is olive/tanish in skin tone like a mediterranean person. Ash's mother is white. I know this focuses on the early seasons but in the later seasons which contain flashbacks to early Ash, Ash is still dark implying that this isn't a tan, that is just his skin colour. Luckily, Bruno is coincidentally dark skinned which does not disprove this theory.

ASH'S FATHER IS ALIVE AND UNKNOWN AT THE MOMENT and is not Bruno or anyone we know. I'll try to explain this as best i can so read carefully. Ok, lets start with Ash what is his dream, its to become a Pokemon Master, ever wonder where did he get this term "Pokemon Master" from because no one in the games and anime has this title as yet, there is "Champion" and "Elite Four" titles but not "Pokemon Master", who told Ash about this term and made it his dream, I believe it was his father who is the one and current Pokemon Master in all the world, saying that a Pokemon Master is someone who has caught all the Pokemon "Gotta catch em' all, Pokemon" or seen and registered them in the Poke-dex and defeated ALL other trainers in the Pokemon world and awaiting a worthy challenger to try to take his title, maybe he is in some far away land, sitting upon a throne atop a tower waiting or maybe in some Pokemon Utopia land, because he has done it all and also maybe the responsibilities for a Pokemon Master is too great that's why he left his wife and child. Also the whole premise of anime Ash is his dream since day one to become a Pokemon Master and Gamefreak knows this and if they were to ever make him ever finally fulfill his dream the anime would have to end and that means less or no more money. Gamefreak is keeping Ash's father identity hidden because that is how the story would end, when Ash finally meets his father the only and true Pokemon Master and the one who gave him his dream, they battle, Ash wins and become the new Pokemon Master completing his dream and everything he worked towards.

In the anime they explain that anyone who wins a pokemon league tournament in any region is a Pokemon Master. So his father being Bruno of the Elite Four is a Pokemon Master since you can not become a member of the elite four unless you have been proclaimed as a Master in the first place. I am not saying this theory is canon or anything (although I really like it in comparison to many others) but it does certainly have solid reasoning.

+rj20za 1. bulbapedia is not an official pokemon website 2. if you look about 1 scroll down from those lines it shows that the original use of the term in red and blue was LANCE after you beat him saying "I hate to admit it but you are a Pokemon Master" This shows that gamefreak had a clear idea of what a pokemon master was from the beginning. In the beginning of the Kalos league ( and many other regions in sure I just recently started the kalis anime) Ash is annoyed that he isnt allowed to take part in a certain gym battle, He whines "I just want to WIN the league and become a POKEMON MASTER" this is more than enough proof that the league is the utimate test for trainers in any region who want to become masters. That is why tjey have a league in every region run by 4 or 5 (including the regularly present champion although not in the anime) masters allowing trainers to see their goal within their own country instead of flocking to Kanto.

It's implied Ash did know his father, as his mother said Ash is "the apple of (his) father's eye" and "He's going to be so proud!" and even if Bruno was his father and just rarely saw Ash because he was often/almost always out of town training, He was still on TV THAT DAY, and if Bruno was his dad, they probably would have been watching together cheering him on. It's definitely not Bruno.

Your theory may be correct on the basis that ashes most likely father based on your points in this video would be bruno; however, I have a dilema over the science behind it. From personal experience I can tell you that I am nothing like my father, I share little to no physical or mental traits with him.

sometimes that happens, but generally you have to pull some looks from somewhere in your family, and based on ash's mother they made the assumption that ash got the remaining traits from his father. Its a logical assumption, but clearly your case being an example, not always correct.

Firstly, Delia knows where Bruno hangs out because she says there's a RUMOUR! That means lots of people passed that information around. Secondly, as someone else said, the quote posted from the director said that it was Ash's GRANDfather that was a great trainer--not his father. Thirdly, Ash's skin tone is nowhere near that of Bruno's. If someone with a light skin tone has a kid with someone with a dark skin tone, the kid will have either a dark skin tone or something midway between the two. Ash's skin is the same colour as his mother--not tan in the least bit. Fourthly, as others in the comment section has said, recessive genes exist, and it's possible for features to skip a generation. To illustrate this, I once knew a girl whose son had blonde hair and blue eyes. However, neither the girl nor the baby's father had those features. You failed to do your homework this time, Lockstin.

The skin isn't really that tan, though. My mother was dark skinned, and my father was light skinned. My skin is heavily tanned as a result. You'd think Ash's 'tan' would be more noticeable, but it's not. It's barely discernible--at least for me. His level of tanning could be gotten just from being outside on a sunny day--not from genetics.

not to mention that there are plenty of people in the world who have complete half white and half African parents and they are as white as anyone would be from a pure white family so just because he's darker and her lighter doesn't necessarily dictate his skin tone, I mean granted most genes are a crap-shoot when it comes to what will ACTUALLY be produced so when it comes to making theory videos you pretty much HAVE to deal in absolutes otherwise you can't really fully prove the point your trying to make, have to many polarizing arguments and people will just tear it apart even worst and claim that they don't know what they are talking about at all much less that they have a good THEORY which is just a idea that can be backed up by facts but can't be proven to be true even with those stated facts

Sure you can assume that ash didn’t many noticeable genes from oak but with out any actual evidence of your own that is stronger that point to oak being the father it’s all kind of pointless

well the father being gone might not be because the war happened and he died. in japan it is very common to see fathers missing from the child growing up. instead of taking care of a child, the father usually just works to make money for the family, and the mother is the one that takes care of the child.

In pokemon DP, his father was shown (half of him). He wasn't that buff and doesnt have the same skin color

Of all the theories I think this one makes the most sense, my main issue with it however is that if Ash is "the apple of his (father's) eye" as his mother said it's hard to believe he wouldn't know what he looks like and that she says she can't wait to tell his father because he'd be proud, though they may not see each other often that line makes it clear they're in contact and that she at least early on intended to keep him updated on Ash's progress in his journey. Not to mention, I don't remember for sure since it's been years and years since I've seen the episode but I find it hard to believe Ash's name wasn't said around Bruno at least once. Even if somehow didn't recognize what Ash looked like if he were he's father he hopefully would know his name and I doubt he's just brush it off as this being a different kid named Ash who just happens to be the same age as his kid and from the same area. Honestly at least point I lean most towards the idea of it being Red and before anyone tried to jump on me about the timelines remember that the pokemon multiverse is canon and I'm not necessarily saying it's the SAME Red.

Good theory but one problem that I see is that ash has brown eyes not blackThis is mostly seen in the later seasons (starting in unova) as his eyes became mostly brown.Ash's eyes in the first few seasons are normally seen as full black, but on multiple instances (which mostly consists of close up on Ash's face) his eyes can be seen as brown.But Ash's brown eyes can be seen in the first episode of Pokemon where in season 1 episode 1 Ash's eyes can be seen as brown around 2:23 where there is a close up on his face (can be seen just after a clip seen in this theory video starting at 6:52) .His eyes can also be seen as brown in the intro for season 1 (kanto) at 5 seconds in when there is a close up on Ash's face.Also his eyes can be seen as brown in the intro for season 2 (Orange islands) at 9 seconds in.This shows that Ash's father eye colour does not matter as his mother's eye colour is a shade of brown.This shows that his father could be some one other that Bruno ( not that I don't mind him being the father).For example (even though you are only doing season 1) his father could be Looker, the international police officer, as he processes the other three traits (black hair, spiky hair (though not as spiky as Ash's) and unattached earlobes) and we can assume that he is at least a good Pokemon trainer since the police all train Pokemon at it seems that he is high up in the ranks of the police ( which could show that he has strong Pokemon or been a good trainer back when he was younger). Also we can't place where is home town or even home region is at that information is never given, so he could be from any of the known or unknown regions. He also seems to be the right age to be Ash's father, not to old or to young. Then again even if this is correct, there is still enough evidence to also assume that Bruno is Ash's father. So anyway since Ash's eye colour is brown, not black, it opens up more possibilities of who Ash's father could be.

yea, but proffesor oak has a grandson. in the anime, its gary. meaning that if professor oak were to be ash's father, gary would have to be his nephew or kid, and since they are the same age, professor oak is not his father.

You can carry genes for certain traits without actually expressing those traits. For example, red head + brunette can = blonde. Also, you still carry genes of your parents and grandparents, so even if Silver lacked certain traits, his parents may still have passed them on to him, where they laid dormant until being expressed in Ash, or the genes for silver hair may also be able to produce black hair. I get that this is just a short video about a fictional character's father, but it really over-simplifies genetics.

Thing is, you forgot about the part of genetics that includes Dominant traits, Recessive Traits, Codominace, Incomplete Dominance... those stuff

I'm pretty sure we see ash's father in a flashback in the diamond and pearl anime if not the hoenn anime where he's not as physically fit as well as ash being at least 5 in the flashback so he does know what his father looks like or at least vaguely remembers

Forgive me if I mess these facts up, I have not taken biology in awhile but what about dominant and recessive traits in genetics? Did you cover that in the video or were most of the traits dominant or recessive from the beginning so that you didn't feel you needed to go over them?

But to even skip a generation both parents would have to have a recessive gene, a little 'h'. Making Ash's hair gene a rare hh which has only a 25% chance. Black hair color is usually dominant making it a big H. Assuming Bruno Has an Hh or a HH gene ash would have a 75% chance (Hh) or a 100% chance (HH) of having black hair assuming that Deliah's hair is recessive. Is this what your looking for?

+Dezmond Essex In our universe yes but Pokémon has many more possible hair color traits who to say some impossible in real life hair color isn't a more dominate gene then even the black dominate gene, after all the super strange hair colors are even more suggestions of relations then the standard one.

***** Maybe not on-screen, but what makes you think that she wouldn't do so off-screen, or even before the series started. Face it, this theory may be fun to think about (if you ignore common sense), but it definitely has quite a few holes like most theories do.

Ash's father is obviously Lucario, how else does he use Aura in that one movie? Bruno can't use Aura, or can he?

I'm sorry, this is a really interesting theory and all, but one thing I found to be inaccurate is that you had read a quote stating Ash's dad is a great trainer, when the text had mentioned that his grandfather was. I remember watching a video mentioning that in a book about the anime, Ash's dad was never even a registered trainer, but I don't remember the video or the book title. I'd love to see you two dig deeper and figure it out because you are 2 of my favorite youtubers. :)

Watch the part at 1:32 again. His mother says "You're already in Viridian city? It took your father four days to get their. Oh he'll be so proud. You're the apple of his eye." This implies strongly that Ash's father is keeping track of him and is in contact with Delia as well. So he would recognize Ash. Theory destroyed. Next.

So, assuming that Bruno IS Ash's father, then . . . Ya know, i was about to say he sounds like the deadest of beat dads, but it's kind of a Japanese thing to do. In a documentary called Jiro Dreams of Sushi, the titular character was home so little in his quest to become a master sushi chef that the first time he was home when the kids happened to be awake, the next day his own children asked their mother "who was that strange man who slept here last night?". And the mother was apparently completely cool with basically raising the family by herself while Jiro chased his dreams. Delia doesn't seem to work and I kinda doubt she would have the funds to raise a kid by herself even if he does leave home at ten, and she does live in a nice house, so she's gotta have bank rolling in from somewhere and an Elite Four member strikes me as a well paying job. Okay, so it's plausible that Bruno put his baby batter in Delia's oven and nine months later Ash's bun was done from a genetic, personality, and cultural standpoint. But this whole video makes me wonder, where the hell are all the fathers in Pokemon? Gen 3's kids get Norman, so we know for certain at least one set of characters has a father present, but the rest? Where did he go? Are the player characters the result of a one night stand where nobody had the foresight to bring a condom? Children struggling to find inner peace after the death of their father? And why after seven generations has there yet to be a single game where Dad hangs out at home instead of Mom?

I think all fathers were part of the great pokemon war and that ash his father is just not alive anymore... and that Delia doesn't want to tell Ash his father is dead because who tells that to a 10 year old kid?... but i like the Bruno theory alot... tho does he have a rapidash?

You lost me when you said current Ash is a different person to original series Ash because of physical traits. Ash has always had brown eyes (shown a lot in closeups in the old series) and he's always had dark green hair, shown the very screenshot you put on screen from the original series at 3:25.

And he looks like Brock. Brock has to be related to Ash, they hang around alot. Maybe nephew and uncle or cousin and cousin? Ash's dad left to train with Pokemon and so did Flint, so maybe they ran off together, leaving their families behind.

Red is ashs dad. In origins red takes the same amount of days ashs mom said his dad took to get to the town. And for those of you who says the timeline doesn't match up, it does. After Giovanni makes mewtwo and loses control mewtwo goes to the cave before making the palace and red catches him but when red take him to the Pokemon center to get healed the nurse releases him out of his poke all and mewtwo destroyed the pokeball and steals nurse joy. And then builds the palace. That's why there are no clones with mewtwo when red catches him. And the staying 10 forever might be genetic so red might be in his 40s but looks 10 and that would explain why ash is still 10. And when Giovanni says team rocket is disbanded that might of been just to get red off his back.

What about sir Aaron from the Lucario movie? Lucario said himself that they had the same aura

What about Riley? Or what's his name from the "The mystery of mew" those are also perfect candidates. Especially the guy from "The mystery of mew" because of how similar their Aura's where.

Y'all gotta remember this is a anime Jame's dad basically just has a darker shade of Jame's hair Brock's family all have different shades of brown as their hair because their mother has brown hair Max and May's parents' hair are similar to their kids' hair You kinda get the point here, if the hair isn't the same it's at least close either being a different shade or slightly different colour So Ash's dad most likely does have black hair or something very close to black

This also applies with style, as all of the Brock family kids have that spiky hair in some form, May's hair is kinda like a longer version of her dad's, Max's is a bit of a mix of their parents Jame's hair is fairly close to his dad's

Another support to Bruno is when we look at Red, Red IS ash from the games, just like how Blue/Green IS Gary in the games. Red, in his adulthood in Sun and Moon is shown to look almost exactly like a younger, not buff Bruno.
