As a kid, I really struggled with anxiety. (Still do at 24) The peak of it was when I was 11-12, when these games came out. I would play this game with my Piplup plushie in my lap. It soothed me. It was my escape. I'm now eating my favorite takeout with this playing over my TV in a nice clean room. Same effect. Oh! Now I have a munchlax plushie instead, as I gave the piplup to a kid I babysat who reminded me of me. Thanks for reading, I wish you well

My family has lived a rough life, my dad couldn't stay with us very long but before he left he got me platinum as a way to say goodbye, I named my turtwig after my father, a strong yet sturdy pokemon, this game brought me joy in the years that followed the same way black and white would when my stepfather got me that, games that kept me going and happy but a fading past with vibrant memories that will shine till I reach my own end.

Usually when someone uses “yet” it is to show contrast. Such as a “stiff yet comfortable pillow” strong and sturdy don’t contrast at all, in fact I’d go as far as to call them synonymous. A better way to phrase it would be “strong and sturdy”

No depression, no debilitating chronic pain, no losing my passions and my future because my body started failing me at the ripe old age of 20. No worrying about whether or not I'll always be able to bathe myself and brush my own teeth. I still have my games, but my arthralgia is so bad my hands can hardly work the controls anymore. I remember how ungrateful and ignorant I was back then. My dad bought me a bunch of DS games (including Diamond) just because he knew how much I enjoyed the DS. A lot of them were random games that I'd never heard of. I remember not appreciating the sentiment, but now I see he literally spent almost $200 on games just because he thought I'd enjoy them. Thanks Dad

These games are how I became close with my best friend, 12 long years ago, when I was 9 and she was 10. With BDSP coming out, we were talking about how excited we were to relive our childhoods, and I expressed how excited I was to bring home the first pokemon I ever caught to Sinnoh again, my Staraptor. She then expressed that she wanted to do the same with her beloved Luxray, and that she was sure she still had it somewhere, at which point I was like wait; I have a Luxray you gave me when we were children, to help me beat Red back in HeartGold. So I open Ultra Sun, snap a picture of said Luxray, and send it to her - and lo and behold, it's THAT Luxray. For over a decade, I have looked after my best friend's most sentimental pokemon, carefully transferring her from game to game whilst having no idea of the value she held, save for that she gave me her when we were children. She's visiting me next week, after BDSP come out, and after 11 years, her Luxray is finally going home. I cried when we had this realisation, and I'm crying again now. I've loved reading these comments and knowing that these games have such a special place in so many other peoples' hearts, too. :')

Awh man! That's wonderful! I remember my Charizard from Leaf Green: Flaim was his name. I'd raised him to level 97 when my game had disappeared from the fave of the planet. My close friends knew I was mourning my loss of my best friend. But one day, on my Diamond game, my childhood friend and eventually first boyfriend said to get on and go to the trade center. I did. He traded me a level 97 Charizard named Flaim that he raised himself for me. It was one of the kindest acts in my life to this day. I hope that your friend feels the exact same way ! @@celinepope that’s what happened to me but with my first Pokémon diamond game (and first Pokémon game ever) and I had gotten my torterra to level 100 and I lost the game when we were moving houses. Never found it ever again and the thought still crosses me about once a year at every release of a new Pokémon game that my all time favorite game and play through is either out there collecting dust or has been overwritten by some kid who found it. It’s wild how much sentimental value a small cartridge can carry lol.

Yellow was my first Pokémon game, but Pearl was the first Pokémon game I've ever played. I was sick on a school day, I was 6, and my brother brings me his DS and says I could play it, knowing I wouldn't do anything to his game. I was mesmerized, I caught a bunch of Ponyta, entered Contests, and it made me happy. A few months later before my 7th birthday, I got my own Gameboy Advance SP, and Pokemon Yellow from Gamestop. We stayed in a hotel that night, and I just remember being so ecstatic. It all just went uphill from there. Got my first shiny in FireRed, got Diamond, Platinum was the first game I'd ever beaten, and there's just so much nostalgia.

0:41 , you can’t wait to start the journey, to battle your friends, trade with them, compare pokemon and tell each other stories about the game. I remember everyone had something to offer back then, every friend had their signature pokemon and their own knowledge over the game. Some had older brothers who told them about the special events, some had action replays and thus a full legendary team, some with their over levels starters. I remember my level 88 bronzong with hypnosis and gyro ball. This game will live forever in my head and it holds my fondest memories.

when i read all the comments, I feel like we'll had the same childhood :') I remember being way younger, surely around 6/7/8, playing pokemon pearl every friday evening after having returned home from school... I went by so many emotions : joy, when I succeeded at fighting against important trainers, sadness, when I went in Eterna Forest (because the song reminded me someone I loved very much who passed away), admiration, because Pokemon was my only shelter, the only world where I felt safe and right fitting in (even it's a fake world) because of bullying and loneliness... So, thanks to this game, I kind of realized that even if I will never be able to fit in, there is always an escape who will make me happy :) Today, I cannot play anymore, and i miss the old joyful days so freaking much :( Younger, I had a lot of hopes and dreams to accomplish when I'd become older, but now, here I am at 17 years old, depressed, lost and struggling to survive... I wish you all to have a happy life, I wish you to be surrounded by people who love you sincerely, you are all amazing

Despite how media portrays it (a wave of endless fun) being 17 (well, teenager in general) is a struggle for many and I was among them. At that time I had lost almost any of my friends, my hope for the future (hearing lots of people in my surroundings saying which to land even some of the most basic jobs you need stellar grades, tons of extracurriculars and a lot of luck made me believe which I was seriously going to be an homeless within a decade) and I started to seriously struggle with mental health, I tought which the best part of my life was already behind me and wondered what's the point in keep going. Now I'm 24 and my situation significantly improved: I found a job (and that' gave me significant serenity for my future), I have some good friends, I learned to understand myself, my values and what I want better (and that helped me in stopping to knock myself down comparing myself with others) and I have dreams I'm working towards, they may not be the big dreams which a lot of gurus likes to sell but it's about something I believe in. Not everything is perfect, I'm still fighting against my daemons and I'm not where I wanted to be at this age but I have hope for the future and I'm very motivated in doing my best. I tell you this because I want you to know that even if now you find little reasons to have hope for the future becoming adults it's not "the end of all" as too many bitter adults and a lot of media wants to tell you, you can still dare to dream. I won't say "everything will be alright", "believe in yourself and the universe will magically sort everything out for you" and other toxic positivity bullshit, luck still plays an enormous role in everyone's life so especially as an Internet stranger which knows nothing about your situation I cannot promise you anything but still I invite you to not give up your hope. In the meantime you can still find a little solace into Pokèmon (if that's still your thing). When I was a teen Pokèmon and motorsports helped me to get by in some dark period so even if you don't have your original copy of pearl you can try to pick up some games (and if you cannot afford them emulators are still here) or even better if you have the opportunity you can try to get into TCG since it can help you to befriend other Pokèfan in your area. I got into my region's league just this summer (before I couldn't do that since its in a city 50km far from my house and public transportation is almost absent at evening where I live) and so far it has been a very wholesome experience: I lot of fun meeting and battling trainers from different walks of life (8-30+) and I was happy in seeing which 4th gen is still very relevant and appreciated by fans which weren't even born at time of DPPt release.

This music sounds so great now, and it makes me so excited to hear the remastered versions in November. This music takes me back to when I was a little 7-year-old who was given this as a Christmas present. I’ve long since lost the cartridge, but I’ll never forget the memories I made.

45:56 - I remember when I was younger, Pokémon Platinum was one of my first video games, and I had borrowed Pokémon Pearl from a friend when I was in 4th grade, right before Platinum came out. I’m graduated from College now, it’s been years and years. I still remember me purposely going to climb out the terrifying mountains of Mt. Coronet (I might spell that wrong, it’s late for me right now)- and I would just sit, and listen to this music. It gave me such wonder, and prepared me for the climb up to the top. Chilling, and sticking with me even still.

I don't normally do this but...i'll just express my feelings for this game because it's a part of my live. I remember back in 2010, I was 13, I had my pc that had no internet connecting in it, I was just alone with my emulator and a bunch of games on it that I took from someone who knew nothing about pokemon or what even is an emulator, the moment I started this game was really like a magical moment. I remember choosing chimchar and lvling him up until 100, in my country around that time there was a big revolution and we were under a lockdown, no one was allowed to leave their house, and what kept me through it all was this game, I just kept playing it forgetting what is happening outside just hearing this music really acts like a time-machine that makes me go back to my carefree self. I really am lucky for having to experience this kind of experience ❤❤❤

I remember being maybe 8, around 2013 or 2014 and my 20 year old cousins gave me their old nintendo ds lite, when it turned on, it booted in r4, there were a lot of games, I decided to open pearl and started my new pokemon adventure! I only got the first gym badge but I still had fun, turning the volume to the max to hear the amazing music. Diamond, Pearl, and Platinum were so special to me as a kid. I remember trading and battling my friends during indoor recess at school, and my brothers and I played Pokemon together every day. Piplup was my first ever Pokemon in Diamond. These games brought me into the Pokemon world (so did the Diamond/Pearl anime), and I still love them today. As I'm in college now, I remember when times were stress-free and I could play Pokemon after school without a worry on my mind.

These games truly used to be something special, what I experienced with Pokemon as a young child is something ill never forget, I miss those times, and I know you all miss them aswell, goodbye childhood, we look to the future now. The sad thing is though I wish I didn't have to say goodbye, I wish I could live in a world where I could forever live in the moments that I experienced back then. It used to be so easy, I just had fun back then, now I gotta worry about all kinds of bullshit, and it's not fun in the slightest.

As an adult, there are ways to still be a kid. I heard a quote from somewhere where a person who lives the best life is always in the mindset of a kid. Might be from Gintama, but the point is, there are ways to still enjoy that kid like feel even as you get older. Play older game titles, eat your favorite foods, do things you want and travel. If your problem is a job, find ways to make more money so you can have more time to yourself. Cut things out that are not for you. One shot at life, so live it happily til the end.

I went through some economic harships and among my ps2 my parents also had to sell my ds and all it's games. Diamond was one of them. I didn't know a lick of english when i went through the game the first time(i´m practically self taught now.). But now that my parents bought me a new ds after begging them i´ve been browsing the local used games stores and seeing some of the old games i used to play. I was overcome with emotion when i saw that they had diamond. I instantly bought it and seeing the text for what it is and actually understanding the nature of the game, it's a whole 'nother experience. It brought me to tears when i was mentally narrating the intro to the game. I'm still collecting as i´m missing black/platinum and rangers shadows of almia. But my hopes are definently up. Thank you for the musical nostaliga, makes me feel like i´m young again.

I've still got the same cartridge with me at college right now, and I'm getting ready to move into a place of my own. I just wanna say I'm really thankful Pokemon was (and still is) there for a lot of us. Like some others, I had rough patches in my life as a kid. I won't go into too many details, but I had my Pokemon games all there for me. With each new release, that same feeling of pure bliss explodes in my chest. It's a deep emotion unlike anything else, a deep happiness that brings me to near tears. I just owe so much to this franchise, and even though I'm turning 27 in a few days, I'll admit that I've coated my apartment room with Pokemon merch of all kinds. My family told me at age 12 or so I'd outgrow it, but once I was 16, they basically admitted they were wrong. I owe the most to gens 4 and 5, 4 was there for me to help fight things off, and 5 helped shape me into a new person. I can honestly say so much, but I'll wrap it up. Thank you, Pokemon. I'll always love you dearly.

I have to say once I finished this game I thought to myself that this would be the end of the Pokemon era after a decade (the 2000’s), Sinnoh was the epitome of the series. When B&W was released, people got confused and were weary about the future of the series. I always liked that complete 180 that happened there and enjoyed the contrast of the soothing serene calmness of Sinnoh and the ever so crazy, dramatic loud Unova. It’s what makes them both unique in their own Gens and I appreciate that of GameFreak. This wqs definitely for me the prime era of Pokemon (2007-2012).

Great playlist man! I love it. So much nostalgia. This birthed my favourite Pokémon Staraptor !!! (Still not in sword and shield post both DLC) even though I’ve played since Red. Had a blast man.

my sister and me have spent ages on d/p when teen, those days are far now but all the sensations and the emotions i can still feel now are still here and i know it's the same for her. thank you nintendo for having been creating such a huge saga, it's bound entire generations to something regular videogames cannot even think to do.

I am 13 Years Old, I met Pokémon in gen 5 and I never left it aside, but a while ago I raised money to buy Pokémon Platinum Version, my generation does not even know this game, it makes me sad to be the only one of my friends who enjoys these games but time passes and generations are changing. I wish I could have someone to share beautiful moments with these games that I will never forget. I still have my Cartridge, and I plan to complete the game 100%. Thanks to this game for so many memories (Use a translator to write this, sorry if it is not understood much)

I remember when Diamond and Pearl was out my brother and I were so excited to play, it's all we thought about, all we talked about for months. I don't think we were ever excited about anything else in our entire lives. We watched entire gameplays together on Pokemon Marylands (I think that was the name!) channel, feeding off each others excitement. Couldn't sleep the day before Christmas, wishing and crossing my fingers for Pokemon Diamond. We both got it and I just remember that feeling of being overjoyed, after months. Sort of became a key memory, booting the game up for the first time- heart racing when I saw Proff. Rowan. My brothers studying to become a lawyer now and we don't talk as much as we should :( I love you Naythan

also met my best friend for life through these games. back in the 7th grade, pokemon was starting to phase out and started to become uncool if you still played. of course it was still my passion and I played almost every night. One day I was hanging out with the kid down the street, we were acquaintances that only hung out a couple times but not best friends yet- but somehow Pokemon came up in conversation and my eyes lit up. I remember thinking, "Okay he likes pokemon but, probably not at the same level as I do" but no- it was on the same level. Both super passionate about it, we played through every game from DP up to modern day. We were always each others rivals, but we never had that "final battle" we always talked about. It was nice having someone to nerd out to, especially when you had no other friends. Always incredibly appreciative of those moments, he moved away now but that final battle will happen someday. Love you Devan

I'd play this game for hours then reset to do it all over again. That's how much joy it brings me to play this game. Never gets old.
