It's even funnier when you consider that it defaults to the buy menu, so he is moving the cursor every time but it keeps happening!

Here is a little tip for the whole "Overleveling" thing. That mechanic does not apply to Pokémon you caught under the current cap. If you catch a lvl 5 Pokémon before you get 1 badge, you can level it up to 77 if you wanted to and it won't disobey you. If you catch a Pokémon over that cap, then it won't obey you as much until you get a new badge. So your starter, Wattrel, etc. Will never disobey you.

Apparently Paldean Wooper/Clodsire is incredibly broken for a playthrough team. It's super-effective against Electric, Fairy, Fire, Grass, Poison, Rock, and Steel. It's immune to Water (if it has Water Absorb). It resists Bug and Fighting. Teach it Low Kick or Body Press and it gets coverage for Normal and Ice. If you terastallize it into a Water-type it gets Ground coverage and neutralizes its Psychic weakness.

Mikey, if you see this you CAN catch the titans. All of them. After you beat them go back to the areas you first encountered them and they will be their normal sizes as a static encounter. If you kill it or catch it it's gone forever so save in front of it. They all have fantastic stats and a special badge for when you throw them out that introduces them as "The Former Titan"

Can confirm. I caught the Great Tusk after finding it on accident in the wild. I wasn't going to pass it up, so I caught him, named him Lord Tusk, and added him to the team. I needed a Ground type and a Fighting type, and Mandy the Annihilape just was not working out for me as my Fighting type. Cross Chop missed too often, and I did not like the other options for its Fighting moves. The switch was obvious to me. Now, Lord Tusk has two titles! Former Titan and Paldea Champion.

Well some people wanted an open world and the ability to do things in any order. Some people reminisce on how gen 1 and 2 let you challenge some gyms out of order, severely under leveled and without holding your hand. This game gives you that. You're kind of highlighting how some people are just never going to be happy no matter what. If they gave a set order like most games, some people would still complain, if they had level scaling, some people would still complain. There's never going to be a perfect pokemon game that makes everyone happy.

Yeah, I mean I basically ran through the whole map to evolve my charcadet early. I had to run from SO many high level Pokémon… I did manage to unlock a lot of fast travel points for when I want to challenge those gyms

You dont need climb to get to any of the gyms, just high jump is enough, and even then you can still strategically make it to the mountain gyms without it

Facing the Quake Titan was the first actual terrifying and strong one. It was my second titan to beat and actually had to strategize on how to beat it. My Pokemon were in the high 20's when I beat it. Way under level but I got flying on Miraidon as my second mount upgrade. That was awesome lol.

I've yet to play it, but I did watch a V-Tuber face off against Great Tusk at around the same level. It wasn't easy as it basically came down to hoping Azumarill's Play Rough hits and drops the Donphan's attack, and then make it an excruciating battle of attrition.

I really appreciate you recording the first play through without a chat. Its nice just to see the streamer without chat distractions occasionally. I watch Vods mostly because of my schedule, I don't like seeing chat distract, troll, or upset the streamer. Its nice seeing just YOU instead of your community sometimes. I think this was a great idea, especially because the commentary was about the game and not some random conversation that throws everyone off topic. 10/10 love ur videos, and love this lets play. Mabosstif is such a cool pokemon with great stats being 120 attack 90 defense 85 speed and intimidate

It's interesting that the gym leaders no longer heal their Pokémon, like it'd be something that'd annoy me but now it's not a problem

If it wasn't already brought up yet you can actually catch the Titan versions of the Pokemon once you defeat them. They will be 'static encounters' near where you previously fought them. So the Bombirdier will be at the base of the mountain, etc. etc. Best of luck Mikey! Excited to see how you react to the end!

for anybody who hasnt noticed: You can catch the titans in the area which you battle them, So you can catch great tusks/Iron Treads In the desert after beating the titan

Salt Cure works like other residual effects in that it doesn't go away unless cleared somehow or the target faints, it's just the Starmobile is a special case. a lot of status moves don't work on it.

Just finished the postgame and holy shit, this game is non-stop HITS. I'm excited to see what Mikey thinks of the postgame

I've noticed Paldea's got a lot of Bird pokemon, would probably be a great place for Team sky

The Parthenon is the structure you are thinking of for the rock hat. Pantheon refers to either a group of religious deities or a slightly differently shaped temple in Rome.

Ok so the meaning of the names is that Cassiopeia is a constellation, & the names of the bases are stars in it. Schedar, being the fire squad, is the brightest star. Weirdly though, Navi, the name for the poison crew, is the informal name for that star, gamma Cassiopeiae. I don’t know why Cassiopeia and Cassiopeiae are different by a letter, it’s just how it is I guess

Man didn’t talk to the trainer NPCs after battling them. THEY TELL YE STUFF! Edit: also, for all the newbies to scarlet and violet: the stakes you find can open hidden vaults that contain legendary Pokémon. But you should take on the things in late game or after endgame.

Mikey primeape evolves after using several times the attack rage fist

I was training a Mankey for the Team Star base when I saw Iron Treads rolling around out in the desert and I immediately shifted tracks. It went poorly, but I did get it first try. Low Kick did loads of damage, and my Crocalor clinched it.

The face you made when Toedscruel got OHKO'd by the titan was priceless. 😳

56 hours and I caught my first shiny. FANAILY

Mikey, the obedience level is determined what level you caught the Pokemon at. So if you caught a Pokemon at level 2, it will always obey you even if it becomes level 100 before the first gym. But if you caught a level 35 before the first gym, it will not listen to you until you get enough badges.

Something I didn't notice: the map does show what shops are what! You have to be on the highest zoom level, but it shows you what the shops are like a mall directory!

Salt Cure will keep damaging opponents even if Naclstack goes down. The Starmobiles are special though, as they are immune to alot of effects including damage over time effects. The Titans on the otherhand... Yeah, use Naclstack with Study and a bunch of lemonade. Also, Clodsire is pretty strong as a support option. While the BST is low, the moveset and typing is amazing. Speaking of Titans, every town can be gotten to without the need to progress with the Titans as far as I can tell. There should be pathways to each town, but some of those pathways are pretty off the beaten path. Weather effects can happen by both attacks and at random. As far as I know, weather effects that were random also have real time effects so you can literally wait out the weather by sitting in the battle menu. For auctions, I normally pass the first turn, then bid the highest option second turn. Worked for me since Legaia 2: Duel Saga. From what I learned back then, the AI was programmed to stop at sudden jumps in price as a sort of stopgap. Don't know if SV is programmed this way, but that method still worked.

I believe Giacomo is pronounced "Ja-ko-mo". I think it's an old Italian name.

So, fun fact for anyone binge watching this in the future: You *can* catch the Titans! Just... Not as Titans. After a few in-game days, they return to the areas where they live, and they'll be catchable at a reasonable level! This means that, before you battle the likes of Grusha or Ortega, you can have a Great Tusk or Iron Treads on your main team!
