I doubt it. The XY randos didn’t have any role in the plot and when you fought them, they had like 3 Pokémon with 3 moves each at their STRONGEST. Nemona, Arven, and Penny had thought and love put into their stories that together weave one story. It’s also like the protagonist is the sidekick in their adventures until the very end. TL;DR I think the XY randos weren’t meant to be as important and memorable as the ScarVi gang.

You know what I find Hilariously Ironic about the Team Star Story despite the Sad nature of it? The Two Star Grunts at the Beginning of the game you fought were trying to recruit Penny Aka Cassiopia aka the Big Boss of Team Star into Team Star a group SHE made and is trying to disband. Despite the whole Team Star storyline being sad I find that fact absolutely Hilariously Ironic.

Yeah. I mean, I found her pretty intense, and like Mikey said, she has an addiction. Like when she said "let's rest before round two" I legit thought you would have to battle her twice. Thankfully you don't.

What I think I loved most about Nemona is that she's the nice rival that chose the weaker starter out of the kindness of her heart so you would have an easier time learning the ropes of Pokémon training. I would also find it great that in one of the next Pokémon games you actually choose your starter before your douche rival but they interrupt you and choose the weaker starter, so even though they're a jerk they still decide that they can beat you using the weaker starter to show how "bad" you are.

​@@Ditto.007I actually think that Hop chose starter weak to yours, because he knew Leon would pick the starter strong to yours, but at the same time it would be weak to Hop's; preparations for final confrontation... which obviously didn't happen because SOMEONE had to be stopping him as effectively as possible.

Or maybe she chose the weaker starter because the secondary type triangle of the fully evolved starters are inverse of their primary type triangle in gen 9.

I like how Mikey never even considered that Clavell could have scripted those encounters, I mean it doesn't matter since he reveals the truth right after the battle, but still, it wasn't immediately impossible because they interacted

I will say that I recommend the art classes because of 1) Hassel is the teacher and you get to see more of him (and Brassius in like one class), 2) Professor Gible, and 3) you can get dragon Tera shards for the treasure eatery if you talk to Hassel outside of classes (and get cool backstory for him too)

Honestly though, Mikey kind of shot himself in the foot here as a lot of these classes, especially Hassel's, just work so much better when you do them early rather than waiting until the very end of the game. The battle with Hassel in the Elite Four means so much more when you've gone through his entire story and bonded with him. It makes him crying for your success feel so genuine rather than just a silly overreaction.

Tip for the school stuff: You unlock events in the school area itself as you take classes. I would give the order but I don't want to spoil that, but there are multiple events for each character. Those are the exclamation points you see on the map of the school, and if you go there and talk to them it triggers an event like the one you had with Dendra. There are also triggers like story progression that unlock events with specific characters. Upon finishing the video, it appears you've already kind of figured this out, but I hope that was at least useful as a clarification that all the teachers have tidbits of lore stuff to offer in their respective events.

@@krisring8157 Not all the music in the game was composed by him, but he did help with a lit of tracks (and I wouldn't be surprised if he fully composed some on his own). But to my knowledge, Penny's battle theme is not one he composed or help to compose. I could be wrong, though.

@@crafthermanos758 area zero isn't necessarily a spoiler. You get told about the great crater around the start, that you aren't allowed to enter etc. It's only logical in a game that prevents access somewhere to eventually give access.

Penny doesn't have Glaceon or Espeon because she couldn't get ahold of the things needed to evolve them. Those being an Ice Stone and sunlight respectively.

The reason why the battle with Cassiopia didn't start is because you're supposed too fight Clive first and the game doesn't think you can get to the yard without fighting Clive, but after beating Nemona you're sent strait to your dorm skipping the Clive fight, which is pretty funny. Also don't worry about the Hail, it's still Hail Form Castform not snow form Castform, HAIL YEAH

I actually love how Eri seems really tough with her outfit, but deep down she’s really nice. Starfall street was probably my favorite path of the 3 to pick

Raifort's classes might be the most fun, for the lore and how sassy she is. I love her interactions with the protagonist.

I dont care that Ms. Raifort is most likely going to be the evil mastermind of whatever the DLC has in store, or that she gives you a quest to basically open 4 pandora's boxes, she a 10/10 queen.

I honestly did not know Penny’s team carried Baby-Doll Eyes so I gave my Falinks the Clear Amulet way beforehand, thinking nothing of it. Unironically became the key factor to beating Penny. Definitely invest in a Clear Amulet, it comes in clutch in situations like this

I am so shocked that he completely passed on the Clear Amulet when he went item shopping a few episodes ago. It kicks so much ass, especially putting it on a physical attacker so you can dodge Intimidate. Not only is it the best new item, it's probably the best held item period.

for the classes, it's something that updates with each 2 badge ish. Each teacher has 4 stage (ish) of closeness and there's some stuff when you reach that. Like, one of them gives you a Galarian Meowth

I think Meowscarada's name doesn't come from "mascarade", I think it comes from "mascarada" which is a word in spanish/portuguese that means someone is wearing a mask.

Word!, a shout out to Kuroko no basket, nice. I love the fact that the school setting is actually utilized and I genuinely loved going to classes, I’d be happier about it if you could change out of the school uniform after passing all the classes with perfect scores basically if they incorporated a graduation into the game where you no longer have to follow the dress code would have skyrocketed the cool factor of the school, if only some of the planned dlc would include such a mechanic, that would be truly GLORIOUS!

Man this has been so fun to watch you play scarlet while I have to begrudgingly wait till chrismas to get my copy of scarlet lol.

My greatest achievement in this game is that I found one of the ruinous Pokemon completely by accident. I didn't take any of the history class revealing the existence of the Pokemon yet like everyone else kept picking up the stakes whenever I came across them. I also randomly found one of the shrines but I had no idea what it was, I thought maybe it was a gate to Area Zero. Then one day, I picked up a stake and the game told me something had happened at the shrine! I didn't know what was going on (I thought the shrine was a gate of some sort) but I went to it anyway since it was the only thing that could be a shrine. I thought I was entering a new phase in the story and foolishly opened it without saving. Imagine by surprise when an Pokemon I had never seen before leaping out and started battling me! Unfortunately for me and because I was not expecting a battle, I had a half fainted team with under-leveled Pokemon. Thankfully though, I had a Salamance who could tank hits and enough Potions to keep him alive. I had dozens of spare Pokeballs so even though it must have taken me 25+ balls to catch, I managed to nab him. It was supremely cool to catch this Pokemon by complete accident who I had never seen before. And then later when I took the history class I realized there were more of these things lying around. I might have found it by complete accident by I'm proud of that catch, it feel like the purest experience when playing Pokemon, discovering a totally new species with no online help as you just explore the game, it was awesome!

I’ll put a vote to keep all of the classes in the video because I really enjoyed them and would love to see your reactions to them!

I LOVE watching people take interest in the classes the school provides! It adds so much more immersion into the game!

The lessons are fun as are the little stories from finding the teachers and friends are the academy, nice little character building and good for the lore too (:

I enjoyed all the classes and the teachers storylines. I recommend checking them out, it really adds a lot of character of the school. I wouldn't mind seeing your reactions to them.

The classes are a fun thing, actually useful if you're not well versed in pokemon or the mechanics of this game, and short n sweet refreshers for experienced players. True to form I had to retake the Math final 3 times to pass tho...

Double Shock is an electric version of Burnout. I absolutely Love Nemona, she is really Cute she is funny and she is energetic we Stan Nemona.

52:00 I do believe the building/cathedral you are looking for is the Sagrada Familia in Barcelona, Spain. Fun fact, about a hundred years ago the architect Gaudi, made plans for people in the future on how he wanted the cathedral finished, cause he knew he would not live to see its completion.

I have already beat the game and am 50 Pokémon from having the dex filled but I have thoroughly enjoyed all of these play through videos and the fact you read everything. Sometimes I think I play through fast and these videos point out things in the story I didn’t pay attention too

I loved the kurukos basketball reference, and yeah the characters name that you were thinking of was Aomine

That was so clutch to get a crunch defense drop right before getting hit by that body press.

The cutscene with Nemona just made me love her even more. SHE’S JUST SO CUTE AND SUPPORTIVE Also Penny entire team being eeveelutions is so adorable. I love like everything about her. Her personality, her design (Especially the eevee backpact like AGH IT’S SO ADORABLE I WANT ONE), she’s just cute and I love her.

I just finished the main story of the game last night at like 1:30 in the morning. I couldn't put it down! I can't wait to see you react to area zero and the rest of the story! But also to see how different it is, considering I have violet.

When Nemona started laughing I was like “Did… I break her?” Also her cry for Round 2 was hilarious to me… because before I went for any of the final battles of the three routes… I spent a day killing Chansey by the fairy base… And got two and a half boxes of level 60 Pokémon…. (My friend got clapped by Arven so I knew what to level to) So I was like “I mean you wanna go again I *got* the Pokémon for it!”

I really thought they were foreshadowing Raifort having an evil plan connected with the Pokémon of Ruin.

Did you know you can change the terra type of a pokemon if you get type shards of the type you want and give them to the chef in the normal gym. Say, you wanted to change Vulcans terra type to flying, you could get 50 flying shards, go to the chef, and you could change his terra type to flying.

I was laughing my butt off watching Mikey be so confused over the end of the Cassiopeia arc.

While I'm loving this playthrough so far, I'm really hoping he doesn't just try to dragon dance sweep on the final boss ^^;

I think mikey will have his mind blown when he gets to area zero. Like I was not expecting THAT twist, btw please don’t spoil it for people who haven’t beat the main story yet. Don’t be one of those people cause if you do spoil it you’re an a-hole.

I agree, that whole plot line was awesome

Okay, Spoilers for those who haven't finished the video. When Clevell said it was his prerecorded voice, he *probably* knew what it would say next. Thus, he could just say his part of the script before having "Cas" say their next part. He could easily just go back and forth with what he's saying. I don't see how "They talked to each other" is an actual counterargument.

I think what truly gave away the lie was the stutter when he said "the-um... high-tech gizmos" - if he actually did that, he would exactly know what he used, instead of guessing and trying to make up on the spot.

so few people have noticed or mentioned this but in the background of history classes there are pictures from legends arceus including the pokeball and professor laventon

The history teacher gets more suspicious the more you talk to her. After showing her all the legendaries she gives you the TM for Nasty Plot which has some final boss vibes

I don't think she'll be any kind of final boss encounter in future DLCs, but she is absolutely up to no good. She tells you, effectively, that only good, kind people can pull the stakes then immediately gives a half-assed excuse as to why she can't be the one to do it. When you start showing her the legendaries, she seems more interested in owning them than actually studying them. Once you get all the legendaries, she gives you the Nasty Plot TM. And, if you talk to her again after the whole thing is over, she none too subtly makes a point of saying that she'd be happy to take the legendaries off your hands if they're too much for you. She is definitely evil.

I love rewatching this entire series start to finish even this long after it's been completed. Mikey has such a talent of commentating so well to make it feel like he was streaming but he wasn't. Its my favorite playthrough to watch as i still play my scarlet & violet games (restart violet several times or just while shiny hunting).

The Team Star Bosses are such well written characters, and they're so easy to emphasize with. It's probably my favorite Evil team... maybe Team Skull beats it?

I was surprised that NO ONE seemed to react or care that the player had to battle the director right outside of the entry of the school! Not only that, he pulled a Team Rocket and revealed himself from a disguise! Seriously, why did the other students just act like nothing major was going down right next to them! Oh, they were too distracted by the cute little Rockruff...

I have been following this series like a hawk. I love that you make longer videos with playthroughs.

I absolutely loved the final rival battle, the music was amazing and the whole story of SV as a whole was amazing and the games are definitely worth replaying again
