Fun fact! Trainers in this game will only use items on their highest leveled Pokémon in Gen 2. So if you drop something into red HP and they're not the ace of that trainer, they're not using items on it. Even if their ace is already fainted.

@@skibot9974 Then the trainer can use items on any of the 3 once their HP falls low enough. So Blue can use Full Restores on Arcanine, Gyarados, or Exeggutor.

Huh. No wonder Red didn't heal Snorlax when it got low on health after barely surviving Explosion from Methane the shiny Weezing during chuggaaconroy's Crystal LP, as Pikachu was one-shot by Earthquake from Darmani the Donphan.

Phanpy is one of my favs ever for this gen. Was so excited as a kid seeing Donphan in Pokémon the First Movie, and then it turning out to have such a cute first form was even better.

The fact I don’t see a comment about his rivals name being “AAAAAAAAAA” being the funniest bit in this video is sad. That’s hilarious and could help separating his content from other KZreadrs who do these similar videos. Made me laugh quite hard cause I didn’t expect it, nice one 😂

Good stuff! I've been thinking that an interesting challenge to do would be to only use one pokemon per trainer battle, and then not use the same pokemon the rest of the run. It might need a lot of grinding with wild pokemon, but it would be interesting to see the strategy needed to get through the game and saving certain pokemon for different trainers. It would also force you to use a bigger variety of pokemon then you would ever normally do in any run. I'm not even sure if it is possible with the limited selection during the early game, but maybe you could do different pokemon in the same evolution line (you use your starter for the first rival and can't use it again till it evolves). I'd be curious to see how you would approach a challenge like this.

@@ktownpunkjr.1946 Possibly...unless you don't count Pokemon in the same evolution line... I'd have to look through the minimum battles list to check numbers and available Pokemon

I feel like most youtubers ignore the Kanto level cap on the gyms (just setting it to Blue), but honestly I really liked you using it. It forced you to flush your team and pivot partway through the run, which made it much more interesting.

Hell yeah! I wish more nuzlockers did gen 2.

I'm honestly so glad that you're allowing trade evos, so many of these challenges say "no trade evolutions" for no apparent reason, and while I appreciate KZreadrs trying to make it interesting, that's just a nonsensical restriction.

Not as a Living dex, that's impossible, but getting all 184 demons in the game sounds like something fun. It's also useful, cause doing so cuts the prices of the compendium in half.

It's fun to choose a type, and play pokemon. I did this with a few of my friends, and do that with the pokemon mmo and knock offs.

I unintentionally did a team of almost all water Pokemon and it was hard. But at that point I stopped trying the nuzlocke challenge; I was losing too few too many Pokemon and it was not being fun.

Might have been prudent to not risk the crit with your amnesia'd quagsire vs meganium before the league, but it all worked out in the end.

Finally. The best Pokémon game.

It bothers me so much that I had Crystal as a kid and never knew you could catch a Phanpy that early. I used to catch Geodudes there, how did I never even accidently run into one? To this day I have never used a Donphan.

Maybe when you go to fight Pryce do the same strategy of beating Chuck, Shiny Gyarados, and Team Rocket HQ for the level 31 cap and then go for the level 35 cap of Jasmine afterwards. Then you wouldn't have to grind as much to fight Clair with her level 41 cap.

Either self trade or there's a option in the universal Pokémon randomizer to change trade evolution to lvl up with a held item or just lvl up
