Oh, I think I get the splitting for types like Wind, Wood, Abnormal, etc. It’s for the sale of basically giving Physical and Special versions of moves, cause of how the physical special split works in early gens.

There actually are, though I doubt they're all easily obtainable in the same run Pidgeot, Lopunny, Raticate, Dodrio, Ursarang, and like, any route 1 normal type are all brown in their final evolution, alongside a fair few more. Brown is a very common color for normal types.

Raticate's never been a bad Pokemon, especially for in-game use. It won't see much competitive use, due to its poor defensive stats and underwhelming sweeping potential against more powerful Pokemon, but does have decent offensive stats, especially for in-game, and hits like a truck in the early-to-mid-game. It does become thoroughly outclassed by other Pokemon as the power creep starts to ramp up in the late game, but can still be useful in the right match-ups even then. Edit: Raticate does have good enough offensive stats that, if you were somehow able to Baton Pass it a few stat boosts, it, like most Pokemon, would be capable of sweeping a competitive team. Like, let's say you lead with Ninjask, and use Swords Dance on the first turn, letting speed boost raise your speed simultaneously, then use protect to allow speed boost to raise speed one more time, then substitute (another speed boost), then baton pass to Raticate if low on health (or continue to boost if your opponent isn't threatening to knock Ninjask out), then Raticate could definitely take out even a team of Ubers, especially if Ninjask were somehow able to get off 2-3 Swords Dances.

In Generation I, Horn Drill and Fissure are unaffected by the opposing Pokemon's level. That's not a thing until later in the series. Instead, those moves are affected by the user's speed stat vs the target's speed stat. If the user's speed stat is lower than the target's speed stat, then the move will fail. This would make Dugtrio, and any other speedy Pokemon that has access to OHKO moves, the best Pokemon to use those moves with. In the real Gen I, the only Pokemon most people used a OHKO move with was Dugtrio using Fissure.

23:07 Given Prism has its unique types fo with one of them. I would say Gas because that's a total of Six Pokémon to get at all(you should probably allow Dupes due to that), which would drive the _Hardcore_ down(or maybe up) really well. Granted it would be quite the uphill battle. But hey, FlygonHG (after quite the struggle) managed to get the "ultimate Memerun" Diamond Fire-Only done, so it's not impossible to get a Hardcore Nuzlocke done with a "tiny" Team.

  • @albertbass18

I have a weird idea for a pokemon challenge. It is a Locke of sorts but not your typical Nuzlocke. Most Nuzlocke Rules apply such as No Items in Battle except held items, battle mode must be placed on Set, and if one of your pokemon faints it is dead. You are able to catch each unique evolution line per route. You will need the diversity. When you come across a Gym, do some research and find out how many pokemon the leader has and the level of each pokemon in their party. You will need that information because your team will need to perfectly mirror the Gym Leaders team levelwise. For example let's say Gym Leader 1 has a lvl 7, lvl 9, and lvl 10 pokemon, you will be limited to a team of 3 pokemon. They must contain a lvl 7, lvl 9, and lvl 10 pokemon. As for the battle against the Gym Leader, you must battle their lvl 7 with your lvl 7, their lvl 9 wuth your lvl 9, and their lvl 10 with their lvl 10. If at any point of the battle one of your pokemon faint, you must soft reset, go to the pokemon center, and permanently box or release the pokemon that fainted and replace it with one of the spares you've caught. The challenge is an automatic loss if you either A) can't make a party of pokemon equal to the Gym Leader, or B) You are unable to match each of the Gym Leaders pokemon. If you make it to 8 badges, whatever your team was that beat the 8th Gym is the team you must use to beat the rest of the game. Now for at least 90% of Roms and Official Pokemon titles you most likely wont be able to acquire enough rare candies to do this challenge against the Elite Four and Champion so for those cases you can use normal Nuzlocke rules. If the game your playing gives easy access to a plethora of Rare Candies than you fight the Elite Four and Champion using the same rules as you did for the Gym Leaders. The one exception is that if the 8th Gym Leader had a team of 6 pokemon but the Elite Four have 5 pokemon on their team while the Champion has 6, you may pick any 5 pokemon on their team to match the Elite Four members teams. I tried to do this weird challenge on Pokemon BDSP and it took about 80 attempts before I had a run that made it to Cynthia. I had a lot of fun with it because it forced me to this about not just what pokemon to use for each gym, but also what levels they learned their moves, what their stats are at very particular levels, and how those 2 factors would match up to the challenge at hand. It brought forth a lot of "sleeper" pokemon I never expected to use successfully.

That's basically a normal playthrough then. Most smart Pokemon players don't keep more than one of a particular type on their team. The reason for this is having multiple Pokemon of the same, or similar, typing gives your team a glaring weakness against a particular type. For example: Let's say you really like water types and chose to have both Starmie and Lapras on your team. Both are great Pokemon, but now you've just made 1/3 of your team weak to grass and electric attacks. If you tried to bring along a ground type to counter the electric weakness, well then, you've just made half your team weak to grass. This is not something a smart Pokemon player would find acceptable and would normally choose one and replace the other with a type that counters the other's weakness.
