Could it be that being with someone new just gives the illusion of starting over with lessons learned? New car (how exciting!), "this time around... i'm going to try harder to hold on". I see some divorced people who settled for worser partner, but claim to have found the right one when there are no other options. They forget they threw away years of trust down the drain for someone they just met... how exciting.

It's your fault, for marrying someone who doesn't like you from the start. You should had let her go the moment she said she made a mistake marrying you. Yet you insisted that she stay. You even go as far as telling her parents to coerce her to stay. So you said she ruined your life. You also ruined her life. This is the US, not Laos. In Laos, you can force women to stay in the marriage but not here in the US... you should already know that but you think you can do things the Hmong way and ignore the American way. A lot of Hmong people still have this mentality. That's why so many young Hmong Lao girls ditch their old Hmong American husbands because Hmong Americans think that the in-laws will lecture and coerce her to stay when she changes her mind about the marriage. But as everyone knows, that doesn't work. She will leave when she feels like it and no one can stop her... unlike back in Laos where Hmong men rule supreme.
