I love that you pointed out the difference between Korean and English. Turkish has the exact same grammar structure with Korean so English is hard to learn for most Turkish people as well but for Korean we only need to learn words.

Its funny how i, as a native speaker of a slavic language, find learning languages an easy task, because the grammar structure of the slavic languages is in general so flexible because of the cases and declensions that we can set the word order pretty much as we want... And that makes our brains more adaptable to learning any new structure))) But at the same time, its more difficult when i learn languages with strict grammar rules because i must follow that specific word order and i have to study harder to memorize those rules... Of course i can speak only for myself, but its something interesting to discuss))) thanks for sharing your vision))) ❤

I feel like it's a combination of everything that's hard about language for English speakers - different alphabet, complex pronunciation, crazy grammar. It's rough. Props to any native English speakers who learn Korean and native Korean speakers who learn English. You're much smarter than I am lol.

The other day I was listening to a podcast about "swagger" in sports. They were using it to describe that point past a mere display of confidence but without crossing the line into full-on arrogance. I think that's probably a good word for the kind of dancing that "sassy" isn't _quite_ right for; it sure seems to fit what I just watched here!

I had no idea that English is so hard to learn for native Korean speakers. I grew up hosting international students and our school district was particularly popular with Korean and Japanese students. Sometimes we'd get students from China or Taiwan, sometimes we'd get Europeans (my honorary sister who came back for my wedding is German!) and a good friend from high school who lived with a different family was from Mexico. By far though, the vast majority of international students in my school district and thus the vast majority living with us for various lengths of time were Korean or Japanese. Both sets of students generally already spoke very well when they arrived and improved incredibly fast once here. It was such an interesting way to grow up, too! The district didn't allow two students of the same native language to be placed in the same home if they were staying for 8 weeks or more, which means in the summer we might have 2-3 short program students chattering away in the same language and we'd get to experience their language as well rather than just teaching ours, but this also meant that during the school year we'd have 2-3 students from different countries. There was nothing funnier to 16 year old me than sitting in the kitchen with a Korean, a Japanese, and a Chinese teenager while they all debated how to do or pronounce things that were common to them and then tried to use me as the tie breaking vote. I'm of Norwegian x UK/Irish x German ancestry. Whatever they were debating, it was usually only the first or second time I was hearing of it.

Stir coffee, rinse spoon, dry spoon, eat cereal 🤯 revolutionary I know. Thank you for coming to my Ted talk I’ll be here all week😎
