Technically it could explain ultimatum being held back …. The trial master served chaos and Lycia served Beidat ( sanctum ) if we go back all the way to scourge league the blood crucible was given by chaos to battle the beyond scourge … it’s prob the most connected lore I’ve seen across Poe leagues

I thought GGG stated they were aiming to go back to more humble roots (less god slaying and such). The idea being we don't need such extreme power creep lore wise to make engaging content. If I am not misremembering the above, I could still see your idea, just not pushed to the extreme like with POE1, where we would probably kill a ruler of hell or something.

I definitely think beyond and Beidat in particular have to mean something for our next story. Could even be related to the seed of corruption? There’s so many ways they could go, just depends on how much they already built out before Sanctum even happened

As foretold, the weapon was powerful beyond compare, but using it had cost him absolutely everything. And we know what happens after that part. Orbala survived the 'Divine Inferno', still very much alive, though covered in soot, much to the horror of the bandit king. He took a massive gamble, and it didn't pay off.

Your lore presentation as well as speculation are very well-done. I appreciate the work you put into exploring things like unique item text, heist item text, and all other places where tidbits of lore are found. POE is a game of many deep systems, but the lore is also very deep and can be hard to pick up on or make sense of. Your videos help immensely. Keep up the good work :)

I've been searching for a PoE lore channel, i feel the lore is big and deep enough for these types of videos.

8:28 Crucible league doesn't have much of an explicit story, but it's important to note that the one Titan we get to interact with in the League is straight up named "The Molten One". The same "Molten One" that the Redblades worship. The Redblades themselves are mentioned here and there in Crucible league, including a Readable in the Forge of the Titans named "The Redblade Caldera", and the Unique sword named "The Redblade". >"Its forging marked the melding between man and titan against the coming darkness".

@@miscstomp568 It feels likely that in this case, the specific batch of monsters the Titans were fighting against is the Lightless, especially given: "Kalandra watched as the almighty titans fell, relegated to the innermost depths of the world, where horrific abominations awaited them." --Primeval/Primordial Remnant flavor text "We were largely indifferent to the struggles of humanity for millennia. Their suffering has become our own, now that we have a common goal to unite us. The hostile entities that threatened to overwhelm us still lurk deep beneath the surface of our world. We must ally with mankind in order to keep them at bay." --An Unlikely Alliance (a bit of environmental lore that I never saw but I guess is in the "Uber Forge of the Titans" from the Primordial Remnant).

"We haven't seen [the hooded one] in any footage since ExileCon" FALSE! He's shown at the front of the caravan in the trailer for act 2, seemingly leading the way. His position there felt SKETCHY AS FUCK to me and I've not trusted him since.

Never cease to be amazed at how make sense of all this stuff. PoE2 hype fan start now that lore vids are starting 🎉

I could just be a coincidence or not the final VA they intended but the Hooded One during the ExileCon demo has the same voice and intonation of the Envoy. He doesn't speak in quite the same fashion as our current Envoy, but it's entirely possible it is him still. Which wouldn't shock me at all if this was intended since the way the current lore has been moving is the the outer gods or whatever you want to call them have finally fulfilled the claims of coming to deal with "the Hatchling" and her meddlesome followers (us).

It's was super cool to see you on ExileCon talking with Matt about PoE lore. They couldn't pick better person for that.

Before watching things i expect : tasuni followed the whispers of the beast for some reason. "Please, leave me, before the frenzied voices inside my head devour my body and soul" While we beat the vaal oversoul, the vaal have been resurrected or managed to travel to the future. There's still feral gemlings, because it's what they do, maybe they organized though? I'd wager we'll have to resurrect either the beast or piety.

2:36 Looking closer, the boat looks like it has a Waypoint on it. It's likely that, much like the Ardura Caravan in the Act 2 gameplay showcase, the boat will itself be a Town and be used to travel to different locations within a region. The different islands of the Karui Archipelago, maybe?

Getting the gang hyped for POE2

The seed seems to have a very Ghorr, the Grasping Maw of Scourge, aesthetic on that caravan so I bet it was originally connected to Viridi but then corrupted by Ghorr to act as a link like Beidat tried to do with Divinia/Lycia.

I think that the lost city of Keth option in that menu isn't a dialogue option, It's an option of where you want to travel. Because just after that screenshot in the gameplay they select the mastodon badlands, and then the caravan proceeds to drop them off there.

Excellent work. I wonder (hope) if GGG might release more lore-heavy trailers leading up to PoE2. League trailers are usually only small snippets of lore info meant to communicate the league content, but a cutscene with actual dialogue between in-game characters, lore reveals, a story, rather than just "this is whats happening over the next few months" would really help us to get geared up for PoE2.

In Lake of Kalandra, the inscriptions suggest that Sin came to Kalandra looking for a solution that might banish the gods, and what Kalandra gave him resulted in the Beast. I thought that she simply gave him the means to make the Beast... but Sin is the Thief of Virtue; his divine power is to steal the essences of other gods. What if Kalandra gave him a special vessel, say an Orb or a Seed, and told him to trap Viridi's essence within it and plant it in the earth. It grew and became the Beast, a corrupted reflection of Viridi's natural abundance. The Beast would then be the making of three architects: Viridi's boundless growth, Sin's thievery of virtue, and Kalandra's darkened reflections. So it grew and glutted itself on the gods' powers, and spat out corruption and virtue gems as by-products. And in the PoE2 logo, we see that the Seed of Corruption-which, if I am correct, is the dark reflection of Viridi-corrupts a Mirror of Kalandra. Doubtless, such a step is part of Kalandra's plan of escape.

While this was lightly brushed against, it should be important to mention that the current Atlas endgame story in PoE 1 "Siege of the Atlas" has officially pinned itself as happening 1 year after Kitava's defeat - i.e. 19 years before PoE 2. So what happens to Kirac and the Citizen Vanguard in the time gap between the two games? And what implications does this have for the kind of endgame PoE 2 will have? Sorta related question, which batches of League content will become part of the "historical canon" within that time gap? And will that have an impact on PoE 2's main story, or its side stories? Lots of questions.

I am super psyched about going to Exilecon again! I can't wait to see more of the story revealed. I also trust that if Noodle gets to stream the beta live, she will indeed talk to all NPCs and read all flavor text for future extrapolations! I know I'm going to play whatever new acts they have as many times as I can.

So Viridi is the slumbering Avatar, and everything went wrong when the fire came lol No but great video, and lots of solid points. For a second there I thought The Hooded One could be Viridi, but that would be too easy. I'm now even more hyped for what's to come. I can't wait to see what they've got planned. Personally I would love to visit the One Realm where The Shade of Venarius was successful in his defence against the demon horde - The one The Last To Die told us about. Mostly because I want to see a reinvented Synthesis League, but then again that could also be a Boat League. I imagine sailing to places like you would build paths in the Nexus.

This is interesting. I haven't really thought much about the poe lore, but thought id throw in my thoughts as someone who hasn't drowned themselves in lore, might spark some new theories. The great fire just screams meteor to me, not big enough to cause a worldwide extinction event, but big enough to raise enough dust and ash into the sky to start the winter of the world. I am also not quite sure i agree with the assumption that (unless there is more lore than found on the wiki) that viridi was sealed by solaris and lunaris, The flavour text from prismatic edge sounds more like viridi was trapped by the earth, Solaris searing and contorting the surface in an attempt to release her, Lunaris despairing at her sister being trapped.

what if ggg took inspiration from the roman pompeii story / incident aka a big volcano eruption that deeply influenced the mythology of rome? that would fit very nice without needing a meteor from outer space.

Still, how does it connect to PoE 1 tho? I mean in PoE 1, the endgame is already on the space fighting against other deities like Maven. Then 20 years later, Exiles somehow get hang again? Then restart the journey of Wraeclast? It doesn't seem to connect to the Atlas at all...

im almost certain the character we see in the Ngamakanui trailer is Lani. im not too sure who the guy is in the Aggorat trailer tho hmm..

I’m surprised no one is talking about the potential of character customization. Or the editing at least of models, in the reveal videos of the two locations both of those characters don’t look like any we’ve seen so far. The monk definitely isn’t and the female caster doesn’t have the small frame of the witch we’re used to seeing.

Iirc from what they said a while back, they are unifying the animations, so they'll be able to make different models for each class without needing exponentially more work (because currently they'd have to remake all the animations for any new character model.) So potentially customization/new full body skins down the road, though it's probably just 7 new models for poe2 release.

I hope they improve the storytelling from poe 1. Im all for filling the world with tons of small lorebits but I want to know the players reason to be there and motivation to do things. Sure, we are exiles but why are we even exploring the world of Wraeclast? I hope its more than just meeting random npcs with quests.

I'm not exacly attracted to H&S games, but for instance I appreciated (and had fun) with Diablo 2 and its storytelling (I still remember the cgi videos, also dubbed really well in italian).. So, with that in mind, do you think I could enjoy PoE the same way? (starting with the first). TY

My theory is that Zana ONCE again locked us into the atlas[back stabbing hussy] and instead of last time where we turned into the conquerers[sirus] We found our way back... but we didn't find it back to oriath/wraeclast but a whole other place and time. Multiversal stuff is tricky

My theory is for the game to truly feel new, especially to new players (unlike how right now its so overwhelming) they're going to have to get rid of ALL league mechanics /expansions that don't feel truly core. Like strongboxes and exiles are technically league mechanics (weird, ikr?) I can imagine those staying, but like... everything else goes poof. Which begs the question... are all sirus/elder/shaper/maven/Searing Eater uniques going to go poof too(at least drop disabled) Or how exactly will they handle that content?

​@@adorbstotesadorbs.9371with the atlas being mixed, I think we'll have some way to bring those back, especially with the atlas tree we'll probably have a way to get them back later (maybe socketable encounters, like you could put a war of the atlas stone to get shaper vs elder, or a conqueror stone for the conquerors, or an otherworldly stone to get eow and the other dude ...)
