I was just thinking I would try an Arc Archmage again or maybe a Crack Lance. But you make a good point for Balls

I feel like setup with multiple "stubborn student" on clusters + aegis aurora + some more armour and block would result in a really comfy build

Thank you for anti-hyping Cloak of Defiance, because I hope prices will spread among many body armours instead of just being ridiculously big for the Cloak (It's kinda trash in terms of DPS and Defence, but I like it for better sustain if I eff up my DPS rotation / positioning / get poisoned)

What about Glorious Vanity with Corrupted Soul? MoM doesnt do anything while the incoming damage only targets your ES. A Cloak of Defiance enables that or maybe you could just use a Burden of Truth later in the game

Would this do well on Sims? Trying to clear waves 25+ as first goal in league start wondering if this would be able to do it damage wise / defensively

i doubt it will be able to be honest, simu farming usually needs a tanky build that is able to get a good amount of rewards. You are probably tired of hearing this but DD should be good enough for that goal but if you are able to get multiple divs early any meta build should be able to

why not using thunderstruck? BL knocking back on crit is pretty insane, you do all the damage posible with every ball even not having very big aoe. Also, it solves the problem on a CoC set up, because knocking back enemies you will do all damage. is it not good enough for any reason?

I can't decide wether I like it or not honestly. You forget that it can knock things to the side as well, it's really inconsistant

Why do not using Wrath with Eternal blessing and arrogance both? It'll let you use clarity on mana, am i wrong?

Eternal blessing makes it so there is no reservation cost

not sure if this interaction works, but on the high end build where you use immutable force, is changing the caster mastery from the cast speed per instant cast for the 25% more if you've been stunned at all worth, or is it too situational and clunky to have it up consistently

I’m confused to on it I’ve been playing around with it I think it has to do with the slower they move the more the balls proc the aoe dmg I think I’m not entirely sure though

If you switch to Mjolner I think lighting conduit of the heavens looks nutty.

Is it worth getting the 4 intensity caster mastery with pinpoint?

Without another source of extra proj this would give you a ball lightning with 0 proj at max intensity.

I know its incredibly expensive but wouldn't ivory tower + divine flesh be the ultimate endgame goal for archmage builds?

Divine Flesh: All Damage taken bypasses Energy Shield. 50% of Elemental Damage taken as Chaos Damage. +5% to maximum Chaos Resistance. What about physical? What about the other half of elemental damage? How you recover lost mana? It just doesn't work.

I still don't buy that going self cast is better than mjolnir + indigon or that impulsa is any better than a full energy shield setup

mjolnir + indigon setup would cost half of mageblood. Indigon probably from uber so not getting before day3-4 at best

Ball Lightning and Cyclone can work with enough generic AoE, but it's fiddly. PoB actually does a "you're at melee range" calculation if you do Ball Lightning max bolts in range while it's triggered by Cyclone. It assumes you've got the enemy somewhere a bit over half of Cyclone's radius away, too, so it's not fake damage from perfect max-range circles. Getting 10 hits with PoB assumptions is pretty doable, but it involves more -proj speed and thus worse clear per trigger. All up, wouldn't be surprised if Ball Lightning was the best Mjolner setup, but it'll be a fairly different build and playstyle to the selfcast version and I respect not wanting to spread your guide too thin.

If you're scaling a bunch of aoe, storm call with awakened spell cascade gets a bunch of overlap and the numbers get pretty crazy when you're looking at up to 5 hits per

Thoughts on BL of orbiting? Even without slower proj it can hit large targets way more than 13 times.

​​@@Palsteronorbiting's faster cast speed means it only deals 3% less damage if you are spamming a skill though right? Assuming it doesn't affect mana sustain and you probably lose a little more damage with smaller shocks etc. etc. I get if you are triggering it since you lose 20% of the damage but if you believe mjolner ball lightning loses 40% of it's damage and you thought ball lightning of orbiting lost 0% it would be the higher damage skill there as well. No idea if that is true in practice but orbiting wants you to be super close to the boss
