    You are still my fav knitting podcaster! Why? 1. You get right to the point (not too much off topic chatter) 2. You have excellent notes and links below (some podcasters have nothing and I can’t make out what the name of the project is nor the designer) 3. You are smart and explain well 4. Your knits are beautiful and just the right amount challenging 5. I think you said that you can’t wear too itchy of things…same with me! Rock on!

    Thanks for the video. I feel your pain for knitting silk! I knitted Cumulus tee in Knitting for Olive pure silk earlier this summer and thought I'd never knit pure silk ever again. But looking at the end result I'm almost tempted to knit the same tee in the same yarn in another colour😅

    I did the cumulus tee in tynn line by sandnes garn and it works very well. I had issues with the slip on metal needles, and changes to wooden needles. After a progress of like 10 cm i could change too metal again (my metal needles are more pointy what was easier for the increases). Worked well with the yarn

    Always love your honesty about patterns ! Your knitted things always look so good, with good info about the pattern. Agree with a comment below about getting to the point ; never have to fast forward your podcasts. Attention span short circuits with too much info from other podcasts I watch. Thank you !

    The arm edges on the cami no.5 took years off my life 😂 Think I spent 2-3 weeks doing them and I'm so glad I chose to do them in the middle of my project (especially since I'm doing it as a dress) because if that had to be my last step, I'm pretty sure I'd end up semi-abandoning it 😅

    I’m currently working on the cumulus tee and I’m doing it in the second recommended yarn, Tynn Line by Sandnes Garn. And I absolutely HATE the flat part I’m currently at, every purl side is a pain in my soul, but the knit side is always so so smooth and nice, and the finished fabric feels so nice to the touch) so overall, partially I want to scream and partially I’m so excited by the project and enjoy it, but yeah, be ready that the flat part is kinda…interesting in terms of emotions😂

    I share your opinion on the pure silk! I really didn't enjoy knitting with it at times, but the blocked fabric is just sooo lovely. I'm still not sure if I would buy it again, as I want to enjoy the process of knitting as well as the finished garment, especialy when it is on 3mm and takes forever...

    Love your channel! I just finished the vegas top a few weeks ago and it was a super fun knit - however the arm holes ended up being quite tight on me even after blocking. I went with my suggested size from the pattern (M) but could have definitely benefitted from adding a few additional stitches when joining in the round for more breathable arm holes. :)

    There are these silicon band tubes to put on needle tip and transfer easy. I never did a provisional cast on yet, bu it looks like this type of povksional cast on would have ninda worked with that? So that the transfer to the needle would be much easier?

    I love the look of your Lanikai tee so far and am looking forward to hearing your thoughts on the pattern. Are the increases easy. I’ve not got a lot of experience with circular yokes.

  • @neknits

    @neknits

    11 ай бұрын

    I find circular yokes to be quite straightforward! In this pattern, the increases are only on stockinette rounds and are evenly spaced. The pattern so far has been easy for me to follow!

    I loooove the drape of the Cumulus Tee. The fabric turned out beautifully, the colour looks lovely on you! A thought: The fit of the raglan looks off to my eye, I wonder if a narrow shoulder alteration (eg reducing stitches at the back neck) would make for a better fit? Or maybe it’s just the yoke depth? Thank you for sharing your beautiful work with us!!

  • @neknits

    @neknits

    11 ай бұрын

    The raglan seems to sit at the back instead of the front of the shoulders, which might be intentional since the pattern photos show it laying like that as well. It's different but I kind of like the look, I think it looks more polished from the front. Wearing it, it feels like it fits great!

  • @jolande52

    Thanks for the i-cord tip for the Cumulus Tee! I will definitely use it when I knit another Cumulus Tee. And did you reduce the stitches for the sleeves? My experience is that the sleeves were a bit wide on the Cumulus Tee thatI knitted before.

  • @neknits

    @neknits

    I followed the pattern for the sleeve stitches as written and I think they fit well! Not sure if they will stretch wider with wear though.

    I love my Chiagoos and use them for most yarns. However, I have found that slick yarns (your pure silk would be in that category) are better worked on wood or bamboo as my hands don't have to work so hard to stop the slipping/sliding -- especially in finer gauge yarns. You used wood for the Lanikai, why not the Cumulus?

  • @neknits

    @neknits

    Good point! I just don't own a pair of wooden needles in the size for the cumulus tee. But I would consider getting some!

    I have found a few local yarn stores that carry it, including one near me, but there aren't many. knittingforolive.com/pages/retailers has a list of their US retailers! I have also ordered directly from the knitting for olive website.
