Awesome! The best suggestions I have seen on the topic. I plan to read Willpower: Rediscovering the Greatest Human Strength, ironically after I finish, Willpower Doesn't Work, which is a fantastic book. The author suggests we shape our environment, so we don’t have to rely on willpower. I think we need to do both because you cannot control everything in your situation. KEEP producing the great content.

I am all in nutrition, exercise, sleep and meditation! The biggest idea for me today is the pre-commitment. I use it regularly because although I have good intentions about creating things, unless I "pre-decide it", as I say it, I usually do not do it. I find excuses not to do it. When I "pre-decide" it, I organize my environment in such a way that I have no choice other than what I already decided it to do! My best way to create habits that serve me.

Great video! The 4th point, bright lines, reminded me of one of your older videos - 99% is a bitch. 100% is a breeze. Also a Star Wars quote popped into my mind, "Do or do not, there is no try". This bright lines idea is something I'm practicing, especially with goal setting. Instead of saying I want to do more of that and less of this I, for example, decided that I'm going to read one hour every morning (controlling my AM/PM).

Hi Brian. Thanks for this one. I think I should buy the book. You said this is one of your favorites.. but don't you say that about almost every one? Hee Hee!! This one really resonated with me since I have really poor willpower and need to strengthen those muscles. I have created a big mess in the small Brooklyn apartment I share with my lifetime partner and it's making her nuts and me too. I grew up in clutter and ickiness. In any case, I am trying to get rid of some of my art supplies.. that's a majority of my clutter stuff, but am struggling since I have ideas of making things out of everything I own. So, about "Tidy Up". I always feel better in an organized environment, but I remember a book and I just found it on Amazon, and it's called, "A Perfect Mess: The Hidden Benefits of Disorder - How Crammed Closets, Cluttered Offices, and on-the-Fly Planning Make the World a Better Place" which was written by a Columbia professor back in 2007. Do you remember when this book came out? I do because it made me feel a little better about myself.. he basically said that being completely feng shui and organized impedes on productivity.. I remember back around the same time I was in Berlin and speaking with a German photo curator and I went into his office. I was in total shock.. piles of disorganized papers covered every service in his office and they were piled high and very messy. And this guy is highly effective, responsible and has a really good reputation in fine art photo. I wonder what you think of this. Take care and many blessing to you and your family. Thanks. :)

Juliana Beasley I think it's (almost) always a "yes, and!" We need to experiment with what works. Personally, I LOVE to keep my office organized but during the day it can get a little less tidy. My practice is to always get it back to a "ready state"--it's a little thing that keeps me in charge. :)

Nate Herbas I cannot, Nate! Altho I read reasonably quickly, I've never found the idea of speed reading to be appealing. I feel like I'm hanging out with an extraordinary human being, taking in their deepest wisdom when I read. I love hanging out so much and I'm afraid I'd miss gems if I rushed thru it!
