PMP Knives Alpha Beast proto - the knife you use to cut other knives in half
Ойын-сауық
The PMP Knives Alpha Beast prototype: Yes, it’s ridiculous. Yes, it’s insanely over the top. BUT it holds a couple of surprises that honestly… lesser “overbuilt” knives can’t usually compete with. While it’s definitely one of those conversation starter knives, and likely not very practical for anyone… it’s definitely worth owning if you want something radical and cool. Just have realistic expectations for its performance based on the crazy-thick blade.

Thicker than a Snicker and completely impractical. I love it! And if you're traveling, you can put it in front of your hotel door to keep people from breaking in!

I’d just take the knife off the door and get myself a new blade
The ability to do something stupid is not impressive. The ability to do something stupid so well that it becomes beautiful in spite of that most certainly is.

There is nothing done well about this knife design. Why is everyone acting like there is?

Like a kid in a candy store! This is why I love Jim Skelton reviewing a knife. It sounds exactly like what my friends and I would say. Bravo!
the shortest 27 minutes Review i ever seen! And the craziest knife ever seen! Thanks 🙏🏻 for this video Jim! Well done
Been following PMP knives for a long time now. Glad they are finally getting more recognition.
It's truly a beautiful foldable wood splitter
I love everything overbuilt! Thanks for the review.
Can it cut paper? Well, maybe if it's still in tree form.
I miss the days when overbuilt knives were super popular. Great video. Please do more!

I don't lol, Medford and Strider sucks! Espada XL and Spyderco is the way to go.
I ordered one and I won't ever regret it!!!!!!!......I live for super thick bladed knives.......I have a Reese Weiland with a .51 thick blade!!!!!!!!!!!!
Pre-ordered. Looking forward to the day it arrives. Thanks for bringing it to our attention Jim.

Anthony Griffin custom knives and Phillip Harvey have both made some incredibly thick and smooth knives. This is much more mainstream and thank you for bringing builds like this into the purview of more people.

Absolutely magnificent 💯 love beefy blades
I am a huge fan of big ass stocky knives. The second I saw this, I knew I needed it. I just put in my preorder for the alpha beast in black pvd. Got the last one in stock. Can not wait to whip this out when somebody thinks they have a big knife, lol
Great vid !
The fact I’m listening to your pros on the knife made this double ridiculous lol. Hope there giving you a huge kick back for that. That would also make a great car Chuck or door stop. A lot of fun thank you 😊
Yep I need one . Preordered . I’d like to see pictures up against the skike rogue shark which is my favorite

We need all the help we can get LOL
Great video and awsome knife thanks. My 4 Max Scout from Cold Steel has been humbled in comparison to the beefy blade on this Alpha Beast. Frame lock is probably fine but if it had the tri-ad back lock I would be more confident when I smash it through a steel hood of a car.
Its a good thing they relieved the inside of the frame to allow access to the frame lock. I could barely get the fat of my thumb in there otherwise.
I had a Anthony Griffen Monster (old video of it on my channel) it was a half inch thick and the blade was 6.1/2 in long. That thing was INSANE
I want one lol. That's awesome

Love your videos man, we’re you or your father ever in sales? Or marketing? You sell products with your words. God bless you, keep doing what you do bro, keeps us knife finatics broke af but still happy 🖖🏼
0.4" (4 tenths) I guess that saying it that way increases ambiguity but also attention to detail... 0.00004🤷♂️ Great presentation JS🤙 What a piece PMP👍
I like it
Hey Jim sell me an invicta watch for old times sake huh ! Keep up the cool work man
hey jimmy . Happy to see you again. a long time ago. I'm going to follow you again. i love you YT Channel. This knife is so much better than a Medfotd. also the price. PMP Knives They show that it can be done for less money. without complications. You get a lot of knife for a fair price
Oh my goodness gracious.. 😳
That would make a great door stop 😅. Seriously though its oddly cool in an esoteric way. Not for me or a lot of people but I enjoyed seeing something so different and outlandish. ( as i flick my 4max on the couch 😜 )
Its like my Hoffner Beast E.R.T knife, but in a folder. I'se got'st to have it! Right now, I carry a Cold Steel SR1 Tanto folder, & I love it. But that Alpha Beast would make it look like a baby brother...🙊
Reminds me of the Reese Weiland Fatty Slash, aways wanted one. I might have to preoder this.

Loving this thing even though it puts my thing to shame
Would like to see a side by side comparison with “ Crusader Forge” Apex models.
In a western movie you hear a cowboy walk into a bar ,hearing the gun being set on the bar but it's this knife.
Beast is an understatement! Have you got your hands on a Half Breeds Blade Large Bush folder??
wow. That's ridiculous. I'm getting one for sure!
I gotta have 1. I hope Medford makes them.

Yup,who else needs a sharpened anchor🤯
Already have an anchor for the boat.
Wow the deagle of knives. I might just have to buy one. My 4max and my extrema ratio RAO look minute now
its 16.432 oz. so over a lb. I noticed you had left the scale on fl. oz. which 1 fl. oz. = 1.04 oz. Just in case anyone else noticed and wanted to know. Anyone who wants to say "close enough" yes it is, but its a lot cooler to say its over a pound than just under a pound.

Okay Jim, just have to say yes, I jumped before watching the whole vid checked out the knife and commented. Now generally I hate this but I feel this had to be said. Dude, I love you content but you have a long history of showing the dreams of the knife world for many people and seeing this I thought, "holy shit, that thing has to be like a grand" dude color me surprised. Killer price for that behemoth. I remember you saying in the knifenut live from Thanksgiving showing some more attainable, commend you on that. Sorry for the rant and keep on keeping on man.
Been Looking For Rugged Door Stop
I love it. Now I won't have to carry a knife and a hammer. So good lookin
is that a knife in your pocket? let's go brandon.
What an absolute unit of a knife. Hey MC, here’s a knife you could actually pry open a car door with 😂 reminds me of the Phil Harvey Piecemaker you reviewed a while back. El Gigante.
Looks like it would be a good defensive tool. Just plunge it into any body part to do some real damage. It looks unstoppable.
This would be perfect for some over the top movie villian.
I'm surprised no one mentioned Phil Harvey's work haha
That’s the coolest paperweight I’ve seen so far!
Would you choose this over the Gladius? Also, which of the two feels more badass? I love them both!
@JimSkeltonKnives
2 жыл бұрын
Budget plays heavily into that comparison. $500 vs $1200+ is a make or break proposition for most.
Damn! And I thought MEDFORD'S WERE OVER BUILT🙄, been a big fan Jim just subscribed
Is that blade not hollow ground in its current form? The way it reflects and the intersection with the front grind tells me it's a hollow. Maybe just a very large radius.
I’d carry that every day.
That is one impressive knife 🔪 looks very well made
Is that beast bigger then the monster that Richmade knives makes? It's awesome regardless and I'd love it in my collection sitting all so gracefully on a shelf 😉
I started cracking up when you weighed the hammer for comparison.
Chunky approves !!
If you ride a Boss Hoss this is the EDC you need!
How does it compare to your Gladius? Also, you should get your hands on a RichMade Knives Zombie Killer for review.
The one thing most commonly overlooked on over built folders is the pivot and hardware. Why such a big knife and such little screws??
@rileyallison3907
2 жыл бұрын
Usually when they do make the screws bigger they leave the thread and sexbolt the same size so you're screw will shear just as easy, usually making the head of the screws bigger doesn't do much other than looks , then there is some with finer thread and thicker, durable but since they look the same from a average knife dudes perspective they usually don't care to put them in unless they are really trying to hit all the boxes
@rileyallison3907
2 жыл бұрын
Ive never seen anyone have problems because they're screw heads are too small other than snapped screws but I've also seen a lot of bigger head screws with the same thread snapping just as frequently when used hard or cranked on
@person86422

Why would they use a weak and inferior frame lock on such a heavy knife?
@budsblades7211
2 жыл бұрын
@@rileyallison3907 I was referring to something like the Spider Monkey from Southern Grind. If You've taken one apart you'll see that thing is beefy.

@@budsblades7211 I think the most durable pivot system is probably the bushing style they use with high quality balisongs basically you can make it to where when u crank the screw down your washers will hold about .00005 away from your blade making your blade rock solid and not leaving any room for the blade to play, most bushings sit in a 1/4 hole in the blade, I've had my brs replicant for about 4 years and having it literally hit concrete and get abused more than anything I think most knife guys will ever do to a 400$ knife , had to repofile the blade and sand the chips out of the g10 but the bushing pivot system is rock solid, stupid good blade centering and it feels smother than when I got it because it's broken in well
"excuse me, while I whip this out". Cleavon little aka bart
this looks like the perfect knife for nick shabazz
How will it hold up to batoning? Now if the blade was in something other than tanto. Looking at that I could imagine a folding froe.
And I think I would trust it to be bulletproof more than I do those Tesla windows!
Definitely one of those who love big folders
I would love to buy this, but I am afraid to see the price tag.
I choose option #1 & #3 😆
I'm guessing they're not going with Stedemon/Maxace anymore? I think bestech was the one they went with for their most recent model, and I haven't handled one yet, but all their other models were made by Maxace and are amazing.

Hi no it is reate, but others i work with Maxace kubey and tuya☺️
It's like the Smith & Wesson 500 of folders.
I remember watching this guy on shop NBC selling watches back in the day. No shit!
I love the lanyard hole on a knife like this. What are you going to attach to it? A leather belt? lmao
Interested! 👋👋👋
You could use that thing as a wood splitting wedge.
What watch is that? And could you do a review on the CRKT RITUAL??
You can Stab Robots with it ..
Now we know that Reate will make this.
I don't know man... I think it needs an external over travel disk, and the thumb studs should function as blade stops lol
It's immensely entertaining the phallic language used to describe the Alpha Best. 17:13 "Enormous ****** hammer in your pants, and pull it out in front of somebody." really got me.
This so stupid but so well done that now i want one
How about the cold steel spartan? Is that a big knife?
Hilarious- so big a brick with a blade. Fun to watch
How did u get it so early? Or is this the original
