PMDG 737-700 for MSFS - Tutorial 15: Shutdown and Secure Procedure

Ойындар

Hi all, I'm a PMDG tech team member and real life 737 pilot. Here is my next video in the 737 tutorial series.
In this tutorial we will shut down the engines and either prepare the aircraft for another flight or run the secure checks to park it overnight.
The video has been taken using a pre-release beta version of the product, so you can expect to see some issues that will be fixed before release. There's no need to point those out as the team will be aware and working on them already. For example the trim sound is not working 100%.
If you like my videos please consider a small donation as it's taking a lot of time and effort to create these.

These tutorials are not designed as absolute beginner tutorials. It is expected that the viewer already has basic experience with airliners and knows the basics how to operate an aircraft.
Instead these tutorials will focus on the 737NG as an aircraft and the particularities of how to operate it.
I'll be closing this introduction by saying that I'm not a professional KZreadr or Streamer quite yet and these videos are my very first that actually get more than a hundret clicks. I have never before created such content so bear with me for doing beginner mistakes.
I record straight from the sim without any fancy stuff going on in the background.

Really appreciate you doing these. As a non-pilot, complete novice, I'm sure it will take many times to sink in. I wrote down ten (10!) pages of notes, haha. My only advice would be to re-order your tutorial playlist so that things are in order. Right now they're all jumbled together. Even though they're numbered, KZread with all its money and AI has still not figured out that its recommendation section should offer the next video in a series. Thanks again, and I'm sure I'll be back for more in-depth videos when I inevitably screw up and want to learn why!

Thank you so much for the effort you put into this, it is very much appreciated. I just rewatched every single of your tutorial videos and noted down every action item, checklist item, briefing and callout. Tomorrow I will put my new "737NG Drivers Handbook" to the test! Thanks again for all the professional and entertaining content!

I just want to say your tutorial videos on the B737 are great. They are so detailed that I feel like I am going through a type rating class. I am looking forward to moving on with the remainder of the tutorial and full flight videos. Thank you.

Once again, an outstanding tutorial series. Lots of new (to me) information expertly explained and easily understood. Am looking forward to put the theory into practice. Thank you for time and effort in producing this series! (Not sure how you got so much time off to produce these much needed videos.

Hi Emanuel, thank you for your videos. Have you made also the preflight setup tutorial? I mean the part after the FMC setup and before the briefings. I couldn't find it among the videos.

Thank you again for this tutorial. I’m a bit bummed that you mentioned the shutdown checklist but completely skipped over it (I think). I know there are tons on google but I have no idea which one is real and one you’d follow. Could you maybe give the steps in the shutdown checklist?

I was in the meantime informed that it is no longer wanted to show the checklists on my videos. Initially I had approval to use them, but apparently things changed. Thus I could no longer show them. Sorry.

@@A330Driver i’m sorry you can’t do that anymore. I read something about missing documentation in the PMDG package that had to do with some rights from Boeing. I think I already figured it out with help from a couple of your live streams though.

How do you start up again from the first part you did? Where the last part was turning off the anti collission lights? I tried to do a second flight without turning off fuel pumps...but i had to shut everything down to start up again...

My 737 always shows jetway inhibit even if I'm perfectly parked. I have jetway selected in the settings not stairs. Nothing else is in the way. I can use the msfs to connect the jetway (via ATC) but not the aircraft itself? any ideas?

I had a question about the transit shutdown procedure, why didn't you turn on the APU bleed as part of the procedure while staying on APU power?

  • @A330Driver

    @A330Driver

    2 жыл бұрын

It uses extra fuel and usually air conditioning is not required if the tempratures are below 20°. The recirc fans do a good job ventilating the cabin so that the quality of the air stays good enough without a bleed air source. It also significantly increases the environmental noise when air is sucked through the ducts which makes it uncomfortable for passengers if they have to walk by the airplane towards the terminal or bus.

Once everything else except for the battery is done: Shut down the APU, wait at least 60 seconds until after you've turned the APU switch OFF in order for the APU inlet door to close completly, then turn off the battery.
