The PlutoX Aerial Robotics Kit is a unique new drone that is built especially for experimenters and hobbyists. Unlike standard quadcopters, the PlutoX can be modified by writing your own software and adding your own hardware.
In fact, the PlutoX doesn’t even need to be configured as a quadcopter! Some users have reconfigured their PlutoX kits to become a rover, a “hybrid drone” that both flies and drives on wheels, and even a lighter than air dirigible! You are limited only by your own imagination (and by the payload capacity of 15 grams).
In this introductory video, I'll show you the components of the PlutoX and explain its architecture. We will then look at the Cygnus IDE, a development environment that runs on Windows, Linux, and Mac OS X that you’ll use to write code for the PlutoX. The code is written in C++ and its structure will be easily grasped by anyone who has ever worked with the Arduino (although the PlutoX is not an Arduino compatible device).
Here is what I’ll cover in this video:
00:00 - Introduction
03:15 - PlutoX Components
07:13 - PlutoX Drone Architecture
10:01 - PlutoX Controller Setup
16:12 - Programming the PlutoX
19:20 - Cygnus IDE Walkthrough
21:04 - PlutoX Code Demo
30:36 - PlutoX Flight Demo (with a bad pilot!)
I was provided an advanced copy of the PlutoX drone by its manufacturer, Drona Aviation.

WOW!! thank you for making a video of this. I had no idea such a drone existed. I want to try to make a drone with Arduino, and it will be fun to compare that drone with this one. You are a great teacher and I rely on most of your videos for my Arduino projects :)

I have been testing Tello and Parrot Mambo drones for teaching coding. These are very stable in flight due to the use of optical sensors (camera). I hope your future videos show the PlutoX in action - not just doing moth impersonations. By the way battery life is an issue with drones but it looks like the PlutoX uses a standard battery I can buy elsewhere.

Hey, I noticed the esp8266 the moment I started watching and they can be bought for pennys. If it was a real interest to you, you can find the parts but I dont see a advantage over a naze32. Yea crowd funding is always expensiver.

Wish you all the best and wants to try your product for my students. I am not sure i am affordable to buy and do experiments. Thank you @Dronebot workshop.. all your videos are excellent and in detail... Kudos for your work.

Subscribed to the newsletter! Anything that means I get a bit more content, I'm all for :P I'm wondering (and I'm sure I'm not the only one) if this can be programmed in the Arduino IDE and run Arduino sketches? I'm sure it won't be long before someone "hacks" this and makes a library if it doesn't currently support Arduino :P

Solo così spiegato in 2 parole ti apre mile porte verso l'evoluzione del intelligenza artificiale..

Hi Bill. Love your videos! And your Website. I've already learned quite a bit from you about servo motors, the PCA9685, stepper motors, and I've built your robot car and have modified it extensively. I wasn't really thinking about getting into flying drones, but this PlutoX looks promising. I have to say though that your footage of the Pluto in flight was not very impressive as it doesn't appear to be very stable. What I would like to see are programs for this PlutoX that will allow it to basically fly itself responding only to commands I give it on where to go and how high to fly etc. I don't want to need to pilot it myself. And I would like if it could hover in one place with dependable stability. Also, I would prefer if I can control the PlutoX from my laptop computer instead of having to use an android device or ipad or iphone since I don't have those devices. Can I write programs on my PC to control the PlutoX. I can write programs in C# and/or Python. I prefer to use C# since C# has a really nice Windows GUI interface. Anyway, thanks for making these superb videos! You're one of the best teachers on KZread to be sure!

Hi, the drone that bill is flying has a barometer. Thus it can stabilize itself in height. For stability in XY, it needs an optic flow sensor. This module is currently in development by our team. This should be ready by Dec2018. Post optic flow, the drone will be able to stand in one position. You can command the drone using ROS of PC. Our wiki page regarding that should be up shortly. You can also command it using Matlab simulink, this is done earlier, but not published yet.

I would like to see a drone based on the nRF24L01 with long antenna. They are supposed to have a range of 1400 feet. Has anyone done a (external antenna)range test with the esp32s module(the one from the esp32-cam) board. I also heard of drones built with a Rasp-pi and a SIM card receiver.. (Does anyone know how high above the ground cell signals reach?) I seen videos where someone has a plane doing waypoint navigation. That's where you plot out a course for the device to follow on a map, and it goes off on a programmed flight path..

You know the magnet suspended through another base magnet? Ok If this suspended magnet coated it with a protected conductor wire (the same thread to create a transformer) Then we put a spherical chamber in the same way coated as the first suspended sphere. This creates energy, just watch a couple of videos on you tube. In a nutshell, the closer this suspended sphere comes,
