The PlutoX Aerial Robotics Kit is a unique new drone that is built especially for experimenters and hobbyists. Unlike standard quadcopters, the PlutoX can be modified by writing your own software and adding your own hardware.
In fact, the PlutoX doesn’t even need to be configured as a quadcopter! Some users have reconfigured their PlutoX kits to become a rover, a “hybrid drone” that both flies and drives on wheels, and even a lighter than air dirigible! You are limited only by your own imagination (and by the payload capacity of 15 grams).
In this introductory video, I'll show you the components of the PlutoX and explain its architecture. We will then look at the Cygnus IDE, a development environment that runs on Windows, Linux, and Mac OS X that you’ll use to write code for the PlutoX. The code is written in C++ and its structure will be easily grasped by anyone who has ever worked with the Arduino (although the PlutoX is not an Arduino compatible device).
Here is what I’ll cover in this video:
00:00 - Introduction
03:15 - PlutoX Components
07:13 - PlutoX Drone Architecture
10:01 - PlutoX Controller Setup
16:12 - Programming the PlutoX
19:20 - Cygnus IDE Walkthrough
21:04 - PlutoX Code Demo
30:36 - PlutoX Flight Demo (with a bad pilot!)
I was provided an advanced copy of the PlutoX drone by its manufacturer, Drona Aviation.

WOW!! thank you for making a video of this. I had no idea such a drone existed. I want to try to make a drone with Arduino, and it will be fun to compare that drone with this one. You are a great teacher and I rely on most of your videos for my Arduino projects :)
An excellent video and product introduction. Like you, I am very interested in this drone, and I look forward to all follow on videos. Just subscribed.
Thanks for sharing, love the way you tech please keep doing videos &i would like to see how to program this drone to go from one place to another. Hope to see you soon!
Awesome video. I love the Canadian tire drawers you have above your bench haha. They don't take long to fill.
That camera following objects is interesting
I have been testing Tello and Parrot Mambo drones for teaching coding. These are very stable in flight due to the use of optical sensors (camera). I hope your future videos show the PlutoX in action - not just doing moth impersonations. By the way battery life is an issue with drones but it looks like the PlutoX uses a standard battery I can buy elsewhere.
you are a wonderful teacher.....

Well thank you, I appreciate the compliment.
really complete explanation.
Really like your teaching. Think you might make a video on how to make an arduino drone?
Please give us more on PlutoX drone video. I bought one!
Just wondering if you will be doing a video on programming an uno with a gyro and accelerometer ? Love the videos
Wish this was still available in 2020.
Would like to follow this project by building it myself, but am not familiar with crowdfunding concept. I would have preferred just to order one. Anyhow, great video and have learned lots from you!

Hey, I noticed the esp8266 the moment I started watching and they can be bought for pennys. If it was a real interest to you, you can find the parts but I dont see a advantage over a naze32. Yea crowd funding is always expensiver.
Very good drona aviation... Good channel to demo your product and good for reach more. Try to approach great Scott and afrotechmods , may be electroboom to further reach. Wish you all the best and wants to try your product for my students. I am not sure i am affordable to buy and do experiments. Thank you @Dronebot workshop.. all your videos are excellent and in detail... Kudos for your work.
I want to learn how to make a drone. How to program for stable flight. Were you trying to get it to hover at the end or is this product not able to hover stable? Ty for a great channel.
Could you upload tutorial on GSM/GPRS SIM800A and ECG...
I really like your videos! (: Could you do another robot video where you are using gyroscope and accelerometer to control position etc? (:
Hey are you still working on the point cloud lidar projekt?
Hello Bill, How are you? I'm a big fan of your videos, I've never watched a youtube vid all the way until now, keep up the great work! I see this video is about 3 years old, is the pluto x still the best value for arduino building? Thank you for your time Peter
please sir can you teach us how to stabilize a drone using PID control technique...
HI sir, i would be pleased if we get to see a video of integrating the pluto X with the raspberry PI so we could use them for our projects.
Subscribed to the newsletter! Anything that means I get a bit more content, I'm all for :P I'm wondering (and I'm sure I'm not the only one) if this can be programmed in the Arduino IDE and run Arduino sketches? I'm sure it won't be long before someone "hacks" this and makes a library if it doesn't currently support Arduino :P

The theme music is consistent and invokes feelings of new knowledge every time I hear it now. Bill is one pf the best educators I have ever experienced, in person or video.
Solo così spiegato in 2 parole ti apre mile porte verso l'evoluzione del intelligenza artificiale..
Can you do this with arduino 101?
Made in India ❤️😍
Hi Bill. Love your videos! And your Website. I've already learned quite a bit from you about servo motors, the PCA9685, stepper motors, and I've built your robot car and have modified it extensively. I wasn't really thinking about getting into flying drones, but this PlutoX looks promising. I have to say though that your footage of the Pluto in flight was not very impressive as it doesn't appear to be very stable. What I would like to see are programs for this PlutoX that will allow it to basically fly itself responding only to commands I give it on where to go and how high to fly etc. I don't want to need to pilot it myself. And I would like if it could hover in one place with dependable stability. Also, I would prefer if I can control the PlutoX from my laptop computer instead of having to use an android device or ipad or iphone since I don't have those devices. Can I write programs on my PC to control the PlutoX. I can write programs in C# and/or Python. I prefer to use C# since C# has a really nice Windows GUI interface. Anyway, thanks for making these superb videos! You're one of the best teachers on KZread to be sure!

Hi, the drone that bill is flying has a barometer. Thus it can stabilize itself in height. For stability in XY, it needs an optic flow sensor. This module is currently in development by our team. This should be ready by Dec2018. Post optic flow, the drone will be able to stand in one position. You can command the drone using ROS of PC. Our wiki page regarding that should be up shortly. You can also command it using Matlab simulink, this is done earlier, but not published yet.
They've changed domains from the one you link to in your notes. I wanted to price one but I've never seen the symbol for the currency they use. Google will help me haha
Thanks for elegant session.I want to use Arduino UNO as flight controller in plutoX as flight controller. What are the factors which i need to look into if i do so ? Please share other possibilities with plutoX.

contact Drona Aviation Team at support@dronaaviation.com we are working on it.
I would like to see a drone based on the nRF24L01 with long antenna. They are supposed to have a range of 1400 feet. Has anyone done a (external antenna)range test with the esp32s module(the one from the esp32-cam) board. I also heard of drones built with a Rasp-pi and a SIM card receiver.. (Does anyone know how high above the ground cell signals reach?) I seen videos where someone has a plane doing waypoint navigation. That's where you plot out a course for the device to follow on a map, and it goes off on a programmed flight path..
Can you please make a video on how to make adruino drone from scratch

You know the magnet suspended through another base magnet? Ok If this suspended magnet coated it with a protected conductor wire (the same thread to create a transformer) Then we put a spherical chamber in the same way coated as the first suspended sphere. This creates energy, just watch a couple of videos on you tube. In a nutshell, the closer this suspended sphere comes,
The video is well done but a very expansive kit.
I'd like to make a done that is capable of picking up an egg
How much does it cost? $$$

Add supersonics and LiDar Xray high zoom Cameras lol
So what happened?
Those motor need a upgrade straight away
it is really expensive!!!
Wow flies terrible, seems to be unable to hover... :-(
WAY OVER PRICED.
You are really a bad pilot :) Thanks for the good video :)
Why do you HIDE the PRICE. What is the mystery?.... The first think I want to know about anything cool is the PRICE!!!!!!!!.............. get it? I don't want to waste my time listening to bs if the item is too expensive... but you MUST KNOW THAT :) right? so WHAT IS THE MYSTERY?
you made this video en 2018!... and you still have not RECEIVED it? Ha Ha.... You should DELETE this video then.
