Plumbing - Avoid Doing This! What Was I Thinking?

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Plumbing you've gotta think outside the box but there is a fine line between that and cutting corners! In this week day in the life of a plumber we are installing a cylinder but when we come to fit it we have to make a judgement call on the job which in hindsight i wouldn't recommended or do again myself. We have a direct cylinder to replace that has split, unfortunately for customer they called us after getting an emergency plumber in to remove, which cost the near enough the same price as the replacement! We also got a top tip from the customer on how to isolate the horstmann clock that was in that we didn't know, every days a school day in plumbing!
Lastly we will show you the results from the system clean, we replaced a main heat exchanger in the last episode and in this one and left some cleaner in, i asked if you wanted to see it and decided the include it on this one so hope that helps
Thanks again for all your support

Started filling the system and forgot to close the rad vents in a couple of rooms last week. Such a schoolboy error. I was so embarrassed 😞

On my maganacleanse I had not checked the how tight the hose clips were for a while and halfway through the clean one popped off and flooded the kitchen! I had the unit sitting over the hob so that got soaked aswell. I always tighten them each time or at least check if tight! Customer was fine and helped me clean up :)

When first starting out after finishing my apprenticeship and thinking was was amazing and qualified… drained down boiler to change a flow turbine, didn’t turn the mains off… customer comes downstairs to a flooded kitchen me soaked and a very wet and dead boiler. Turns out I didn’t have a clue… 🤦‍♂️ no idea why I thought I’d need to drain the boiler to this day.

I've watched several of your videos, and these's a common theme that seems to be running through them. Mistakes! Some of them are painful to watch. I do hope you get better, as you seem to be a genuine guy with a lot of bad luck.

Yeah mate straight forward plumbing no one watches or finds interesting plus half the stuff you see happens to everyone, just want my channel to show the situations you can put yourself in or be found in, I can easily edit the videos to show no mistakes but no one is learning from that. Most of my work is straight forward and goes absolutely fine but doesn’t make good content

Thanks for sharing your mistake with the hole saw and spade bit scenario, with me building up my tools this will save me having to payout twice. Nice one for sharing the information about how you do a magna-cleanse, I was a bit baffled when it requested to partially fill the rads in the instructions. Continue to keep it real as you do bud much appreciated, I am almost at the point where I will be able to make donations to your channel and will get there even quicker with you advising what not to try as well as showing best practice. Great Video.

Great video, thanks! I think the best cutters for sheet metal are Q-Max punches, but these do need access to both sides of hole. Especially good if you need to cut a hole in a stainless sink- they give a very clean, burr free, cut.

We use the Starrett holesaws at work Luke. Don't last too long on steel beams or concrete fireboard but for plaster, wood and thin metal they're ok. 👍
