I moved from studio one to pro tools because I needed pro midi and pro video. I bought perpetual studio and it’s simply great. Brainworx is great but if you’re doing a classical sound it colors the sound too much.. fabfilter are essential.

UAD spark and Eventide are the two subscriptions I went with. The eventide FX are just godly and super inspiring. the UAD stuff sounds amazing and has basically every tool you need. For everything else I just use the fabfilter bundle. I'm running a $4,000 m1 macbook pro so cpu isn't an issue. I could see the uad stuff sucking up alot of cpu on some systems.

The only audio-related subscription I have is PA, I subscripted their plans for 3 years now, and never regret it one bit. like you said, Barry, it's all about value. Most of their plugins are great and get used very often and I get the cash voucher every year. It's a no-brainer. I wish more companies would do it like PA. I subscript to Mix and Master bundle but I definitely will switch to Mega XXL the next year.

We have a few bundles for mixing, this would give a us great bundled subscription for writing or drum/instrument replacement.

@@perhoier2881 But for all of us who spent nearly $10k on their plugins MOST are developed by SofTube (avail at Plugin Boutique) and Brainworx (available at Plugin Alliance). UA is refusing to include those in Spark right now. The reason is because they know they can't compete with Plugin Alliance. So they're only releasing UA exclusive plug-ins in Spark. For all of us who spent insane amounts we only get a very small percentage of our plugins to use natively via Spark. I'm tired of lugging around an interface and it's power adapter when I don't need it. What's the use in owning my ridiculously expensive MacBook Pro laptop if I have to be chained to a power outlet or a WI-FI connection? At the VERY least they should offer us Apollo owners the ability to run our plugins via iLok. I think they'r just milking the hardware sales by holding most of their plugins "hostage" to them. If they suddenly put everything on Spark their entire Apollo line would stop selling.

@@lovemusic942 ...Slate is what a lot of people start with because the price is right for them. A few of their plugins are good (the reverb, especially) but a lot of it falls short to my ears. That doesn't mean you can't make good music with their stuff, I just think there have been better options out there for those who could afford them. I know Acustica's reputation is great but I've really never delved into their offerings so I can't really weigh in on those. The Softube stuff is excellent, especially the Chandler and the Weiss offerings. I rank those very high. They're pricey though. If you exercise patience, however, they do run sales. I was able to pick up the Curve Bender for $99 last year (I wanted to replace the UAD version from my mastering chain because it made sessions load slowly). Their sales are a bit different though in that they don't put everything on sale at the same time. So you may be waiting a while before a certain plugin you might want shows up on sale. I gave up and bailed. If you want to know what PA is really like send an email to support and see a cut and paste response days later and try posting issues on the facebook page. Your comment will be deleted. Have a very careful think about it before using this service. Plugin windows are not resizable, M1 compatibility is miles behind, the installer sucks and they become defensive when criticized.
