Plugin Alliance Console Series - EPISODE 1
In this video we will cover every aspect of these plugins. Even if you are a complete beginner, this video will get you to PRO.
We'll cover the Filters, Compressor, Expander, EQ, Dynamic Side-Chain, TMT, and all of the other controls. We even dive in to how compression works, how EQ works, how TMT works etc... So no matter your level of experience, this video is for you.
In fact, most of the concepts in this video are applicable to all channel strip plugins, compression plugins, EQ plugins, gate plugins, and more. Once you learn how these things work, you can apply that knowledge to every other plugin - even plugins from other companies! (i.e. Waves, iZotope, etc...)
We'll also go into some techniques and tricks you can do with these plugins, like auto Ducking, De-essing, or giving movement to a static track with the Key input.
EVERYTHING is covered in this video.
Inject some analog goodness into your tracks with the Brainworx SSL 4000 E and SSL 4000 G.

Just to reiterate previous comments: this is a spine crackingly brilliant video which explains some potentially difficult audio concepts in a clear, concise and pragmatic way suitable for both novice and seasoned veteran alike. I learned more about producing professional standard audio content in these 2 hours that I have in the previous 2 years. Kudos are due

Thank you very much. The content es excellent. I came just beacuse I wanted to learn how to use the SSL but I just about to watch a masterclass in compression, filters, eq & more. Congratulation! Very well explained, super usefull info, direct and clear. At the end of the video you talked about where should be placed the SSL on the track, in what order put it in. By nature, in the analog world this would be the scenario: The source of the sound is a human voice or someone playing an instrument. Once played, that signal travel across the wire directly to the console SSL. In the case of the instruments, for example a guitar, once played the signal go first to the amp, and then maybe some pedals with others effects. And now, go to the console SSL. At that point now we have the signal living in the SSL, now we can manipulate it. Then start the chain of process; Add your EQ, sculp, compress & more effects, until finish with the last one, the limiter. So, If we want the workflow sound of the hardware-analog-real-world, this is the way.

I think it’s worth mentioning that if you don’t have the EQ active then you don’t get any variable THD - odd harmonics are generated in the EQ block. Also, the compressor section generates second harmonic distortion when engaged but the level of this isn’t effected by the THD knob. If neither the compressor or eq is engaged then the channel doesn’t generate any harmonics. Great plugin.

Tommaso Canazza yes. They have. I’ve seen another channel do a null test on all the brainworx ssl consoles including the 9000J.

I’m not sure a null test between different channels would be that enlightening. What I did was test with white noise and Voxengo Span to see how the TMT changes the eq frequency, q and gain. Having slight differences between left and right eq on a stereo channel produces some subtle width enhancement.

Do you like the long, in-depth format? It seems most folk prefer really short videos today, 3 mins and under.

Thank you very much for this video. It really helped me understand the features of the channel strips a lot better. I have 5 of their channel strips (everything but the Focusrite) and I'll be referencing this video a lot in case I get lost 😂
